A co-worker sent this to me the other day, and it is quite challenging!! I'm still working on it. Can you do it??? And, note how long it took you to complete it. Here are the instructions that were given to me:

This is an IQ test given to job applicants in Japan:

The following rules apply:

Only 2 individuals on the raft at a time.

The father cannot stay on the shore with any of the daughters, without their mother's presence.

The mother can not stay on the shore with any of the sons, without their father's presence.

The thief (striped shirt) can not stay with any family member, if the policeman is not there.

Only the father, the mother and the policeman know how to operate the raft.

To start, go to the link and click on the big blue circle on the right.

To move the people, click on them.

To move the raft, click on the pole on the opposite side of the river.

There is a way to get around this. My co-worker's eight-year-old nephew actually did it, and he said everyone was dancing at the other end. I guess it just takes some strategic thinking, but it's quite challenging.

Okay, I will give two general hints:

1. The striped thief can stay alone across the river.
2. The thief must stay with the policeman.

If it's still tough, then let me know. I will give away one more closer hint.

it's not impossible. however, I have one person left on the right shore and can't get them across. now this is going to bother me.

It CAN be done. I did it (with a little "help" from Swedeace, hehe!). I e-mailed the link to my mom, and she's going to try.

The thief doesn't HAVE to stay with the Policeman under two circumstances - the thief can stay by himself on the start side of the river, or on the opposite side. It's only the FAMILY he cannot be alone with.
