View Full Version : Is Sony planning on releasing many more TV on dvd sets?
Robert 13 08-31-2006, 12:41 PM I noticed that the coming weeks only shows a sprinkle or 2 of dvd sets from Sony with not many new announcements. Are they gearing up for some dvd news? There are still a whole lot of tv dvds they haven't released like continuing with "What's Happening Now". We still haven't seen another "All in the Family" release or the second season of "Archie Bunker's Place". However, I am happy about the quick-moving on "The Facts Of Life". I can see this will be their big seller like "Golden Girls" has been for Disney. :)
Pavan 08-31-2006, 01:05 PM Expect an announcement this Monday (Labor Day) regarding more sitcom(s) on DVD.
TV DVD Fan 08-31-2006, 02:00 PM That's great, Pav. Thanks for the heads up. Just Sony shows?
Pat
Pavan 08-31-2006, 02:01 PM Yes, Sony. I think Nov. 14 is the street for this.
TV DVD Fan 08-31-2006, 02:12 PM Call me psychic but I think I know what show one of them is. I'm thinking a 90's sitcom?
Robert 13 08-31-2006, 03:29 PM Yes, thanks for the advance notice. I'm looking forward to finding out what will be announced. I hope we get announcements on more "Archie Bunker's Place" or "All in the Family" soon. The next season of AITF has the classic birth of the baby episode. :)
BuddyHinton 09-03-2006, 10:59 PM If they don't release Starsky and Hutch Season 4 as promised........ there may BE NO MORE SONY!!!!!!!!! **KABOOM!!**
Pavan 09-03-2006, 11:23 PM Starsky & Hutch S4 was already announced. It is coming Oct. 17.
BuddyHinton 09-04-2006, 02:12 AM Like I said "as promised". Them announcing it and me watching it hopefully will be one in the same:)
TV DVD Fan 09-04-2006, 10:12 PM What happened to the announcements?
Pat
Adamantium 09-04-2006, 10:41 PM What happened to the announcements?

I know, I'm anxious to hear the news. Especially since Sony is the company that releases my favorite show, NewsRadio. With one season to go, I'm eager to complete the set.
Also from Sony, I want news on Ned & Stacey and some others, though I can't think of them now.
Pavan 09-04-2006, 10:45 PM It'll be tomorrow, as I guess no one is around on Labor Day.
Moonlit_Suburb 09-05-2006, 04:14 AM ::crosses fingers for Silver Spoons and/or Diff'rent Strokes info::
Robert 13 09-05-2006, 11:18 AM They've only posted news about Dallas so far today.
TV DVD Fan 09-05-2006, 12:35 PM Are you sure about the press releases coming this week?
Pat
Pavan 09-05-2006, 12:44 PM The announce date was 9/4. Something must have changed. Will keep everyone updated.
UPDATE: It has been moved to 9/11. So this title(s) will street Nov. 21.
vashti1999 09-05-2006, 12:53 PM I just hope that One Day At A Time is in there somewhere, along with the obvious (Seinfeld).
TV DVD Fan 09-05-2006, 04:20 PM May be a good strategy--- these releases may be shooed away on such a busy street date as November 14th which includes a new edition of KING KONG and FAMILY GUY!
BensonFan 09-05-2006, 04:40 PM I just hope that One Day At A Time is in there somewhere, along with the obvious (Seinfeld).
Very possible, as it was second in the voting behind (I think) the Johnny Cash show (?). Benson was third, so if they release the top 3 vote-getters, I'll be happy. :D

If you're talking about this poll (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=143169), I wouldn't rely on that too much. Neither Facts of Life nor VIP got big numbers in that poll but both have been released, but none of the top three vote-getters. I'd say ODAAT is possible due more to the fact that it's been included in recent previews on other Sony sets. Just waiting for it to finally be announced already.

Yep, that was the poll. If they aren't using the information from the poll, then I'm not sure what the purpose is of it.

That's what a lot of us were wondering when we saw what they finally released. Sony's release patterns can be beyond explanation at times.
troopoleon8897 09-05-2006, 07:10 PM I hoping for NewsRadio & Seinfeld for continued releases (I'd like to see plenty of others that will most likely never happen so I just mention the most likelys)
For New Shows I'd Be happy with What's Happening, Now!!, Benson, Maude, Or One Day At A Time (The Latter two I've never seen but am interested in...)
DLevine2 09-05-2006, 09:16 PM I'd be happy for Sony to release Maude before Christmas or just in time for Christmas. I would buy Maude if its gets release DVD this year or maybe early 2007. What else is getting release to DVD from Sony?
big bertha 09-05-2006, 10:47 PM I will bet that Sony is going to announce the 7th Season of Seinfeld and nothing else. They are very slow to release shows on dvd. So nothing to get excited about.

I WAS SURPRISE THAT THEY RELEASED ARCHIE BUNKER'S PLACE
WHEN THEY HAVE NOT FINISHED ALL IN THE FAMILY SERIES.
applecherry 09-26-2006, 02:25 AM I HEARD ANNOUNCEMENT TO BE MADE IN NOVEMBER TOO FAR OFF

PLEASE ANYONE RESPOND.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME
treky 09-28-2006, 02:33 AM try tvshowsondvd.com
treky 09-28-2006, 02:34 AM I just wish Sony, or someone, would release the rest of BARNEY MILLER.
Pavan 09-28-2006, 10:16 AM The next Sony announcement is probably Oct. 9, for a Dec. 19 street date. I hear it will be a sitcom or two.
BensonFan 09-28-2006, 01:13 PM The next Sony announcement is probably Oct. 9, for a Dec. 19 street date. I hear it will be a sitcom or two.
Oh God please let one of them be "Benson"!! I've been such a good girl! :D
Scoobiedoo30 09-28-2006, 02:09 PM I also hope that Benson is one of the show's that is coming out on DVD.
treky 09-28-2006, 04:30 PM here's hoping that it'll be "Barney Miller".
Robert 13 09-29-2006, 10:37 AM I really, really hope they announce "What's Happening Now!!". Otherwise, I'm also hoping for the next season of "All in the Family" and "Archie Bunker's Place". I think ABP didn't do to well on it's first season dvd release but the second season marks a landmark for both shows as the character of Edith has passed away during the season's opener. I hope they continue with the release. I think it would sell better as many people will want to have seen the episode who have never seen it before. It's a sad episode but truly a powerful performance from Carroll O'Connor. :(
TV_Fan 09-29-2006, 11:12 AM I'm hoping it's Silver Spoons, but I know better then to get my hopes up with Sony  .
Scoobiedoo30 09-29-2006, 11:20 AM that would be nice if Silver Spoons would come out on DVD.
BensonFan 09-29-2006, 11:42 AM here's hoping that it'll be "Barney Miller".
According to the Barney Miller message board, it's already released (or do you mean Season 2)?
Ant-Lox 10-01-2006, 02:24 AM yeah, only Season 1 of Barney Miller was released, a few years back...
Robert 13 10-10-2006, 03:35 PM So, it looks like the announcement was for Married With Children. I was hoping for older classic tv shows like What's Happening Now!! or finally the sixth season of All in the Family. Is it just me or does Sony seem to be releasing less tv shows lately? We haven't heard a lot of news for dvd releases on the tv show homefront.
Pavan 10-10-2006, 04:24 PM Looks like they're done for 2006. 2007 better be better for Sony.
vashti1999 10-10-2006, 04:30 PM Looks like they're done for 2006. 2007 better be better for Sony.
Could only get better. Can't get much worse. They had better get One Day At A Time out soon.
Pavan 10-10-2006, 04:36 PM I think we will see ODAAT, Maude and Designing Women (maybe Mary Hartman too) in 2007...maybe the early part. It just seems likely to me.
BensonFan 10-10-2006, 04:53 PM Sony, you SUCK.
BensonFan 10-10-2006, 04:56 PM Could only get better. Can't get much worse. They had better get One Day At A Time out soon.
Yeah, something new, not just the next season of something already released.
bencasey 10-10-2006, 08:08 PM The Sony shows I want the most are:
Occasional Wife
Love on a Rooftop
Nancy
The Good Life
Temperatures Rising
The Paul Lynde Show
The Rookies
Bridget Loves Bernie
Needles and Pins
Camp Runamuck
Second Hundred Years
DLevine2 10-10-2006, 09:47 PM I hope Maude will be a 2007 release. Either Maude has to be release in 2007 or 2008. I bet its a 2007 release.
Scoobiedoo30 10-10-2006, 09:49 PM I would love to see One Day at a Time Maude and Maude come out on DVD.
Kristen 10-10-2006, 10:31 PM I would LOVE to see Designing Women in 2007 (in season sets, of course). Seeing it again on N@N has gotten me hooked all over, hehe.
Edit: How could I have forgotten about The Nanny Season 3? That's one of my fave seasons, so I really hope it comes out soon!
Kristen
ClassicTVGal 10-10-2006, 11:34 PM They still need to release Seasons 2-8 of WTB?
Scoobiedoo30 10-10-2006, 11:40 PM it seems forever since Season 1 of Who The Boss came on on DVD So you are right season 2-8 Of Who's The Boss? needs to come out on DVD.
Robert 13 10-11-2006, 09:58 AM Yeah, something new, not just the next season of something already released.
Though they aren't very good at doing that either.
BensonFan 10-11-2006, 06:29 PM I hope Maude will be a 2007 release. Either Maude has to be release in 2007 or 2008. I bet its a 2007 release.
I'm surprised that one isn't out yet either. Can Sony possibly move any slower?
TVJunkie101 10-12-2006, 05:43 PM Sony's horrible at releasing shows. Facts of Life must have done fantastically well for them as the time between them wasn't long at ALL (five months). Unlike Diff'rent Strokes, which had 18 months between releases. I could understand if a set has a dozen of special features which take time and effort, but none of the Sony sets even give a damn about special features ... so it must be lack of sales, unfortunately. Paramount's in the same boat (with Mork & Mindy, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley) ... which sucks.
BrownEyedGirl523 10-14-2006, 01:51 PM I always get excited whenever I see that Sony is announcing something, because I always hope that it's Who's the Boss...even though I know there's like a 98% chance that it's been abandoned. Still, a girl can dream, right?
TVFactFan 10-14-2006, 05:56 PM I always get excited whenever I see that Sony is announcing something, because I always hope that it's Who's the Boss...even though I know there's like a 98% chance that it's been abandoned. Still, a girl can dream, right?
You can dream but it ain't happening.-lol I thought that WTB would sell well but I was wrong. A Show I didn't expect to sell well was Full House
treky 10-14-2006, 09:46 PM I've given up hoping that Sony (or anyone for that matter) will ever release the rest of BARNEY MILLER. It's like Solomon said; I can dream but it ain't gonna happen.:(
BensonFan 10-26-2006, 09:37 PM Though they aren't very good at doing that either.
Very true. I really don't know what their problem is. I'm sure they have to pay for them to be produced, but I definitely think they will get their money back and then some on probably everything they can put out there.
Robert 13 10-30-2006, 11:41 AM I think they are looking for clear profits from the releases to decide whether to release the next season sooner or later. I have to say Sony is doing an ace job with The Facts Of Life so far. I just wish they would bring follow-ups to All in the Family, Archie Bunker's Place and I Dream of Jeannie and begin What's Happening Now!! I would love that. :happyface
Sony owns the rights to Square Pegs, don't they? I wonder if we'll ever see that on dvd. That could obviously be a good seller alone because of Sarah Jessica Parker in her early years.
Does anyone know when Sony will be announcing releases for early 2007?
Pavan 10-30-2006, 01:55 PM Sony announces titles each Monday. Today they announced Jan. 9, but no TV DVDs are coming on that date. Next Monday they will announce Jan. 16 and a TV DVD sitcom is coming out. It will be a returning set I believe.
roz11 10-30-2006, 02:09 PM Hopefully it will be The King Of Queens or Seinfeld!
Scoobiedoo30 10-30-2006, 03:10 PM I cant wait till next Monday to see what will be coming out on Janurary 16, 2007

Hopefully it's season five of "NewsRadio." I was over at IMDB and someone there said that they just finished recording the commentary tracks. So it is coming. Hopefully then.
vashti1999 10-31-2006, 12:36 AM vashti1999's turn:

TV DVD Fan 10-31-2006, 09:04 AM I guess we'll all have to wait with bated breath until Monday. But Pav, if you have a general idea, do you think you can tell us what decade it's from?
Robert 13 10-31-2006, 11:31 AM I'm hoping for "All in the Family" or "Archie Bunker's Place". Since it's a returning show, then I guess "What's Happening Now!!" is out of the question. I hope they decide to bring this show out at some point. I want to see more of Raj, Dwayne, Dee and Shirley. :)
Robert 13 10-31-2006, 11:32 AM I guess we'll all have to wait with bated breath until Monday. But Pav, if you have a general idea, do you think you can tell us what decade it's from?
Yes, could we have teensy-weensy hint? ;)
jenny974 11-03-2006, 04:18 PM let it be diffrent strokes s3:) :)
Robert 13 11-05-2006, 11:25 AM We find out what it is tomorrow. I can't wait. :happyface
B&W fan 11-05-2006, 10:19 PM My hopes would be for a 3rd Season of THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY. But since I've been disappointed so much in the last several months with new release announcements, I'm not holding out much hope.
B&W "that's the only Sony series I'd be excited about, with the exception of HAZEL, and I know it's not going to be that" Fan
TV DVD Fan 11-06-2006, 09:13 AM Today's the big day... (drumroll, please)
:) Let's hope for a show all of us can agree that deserves it the most.
Robert 13 11-06-2006, 11:56 AM The news was just posted. It's King Of Queens. I'm not a fan but I'm happy for fans of the show. I hope Sony announces All in the Family, Archie Bunker's Place, What's Happening Now!! and I Dream Of Jeannie soon.
BensonFan 11-06-2006, 01:55 PM The news was just posted. It's King Of Queens. I'm not a fan but I'm happy for fans of the show. I hope Sony announces All in the Family, Archie Bunker's Place, What's Happening Now!! and I Dream Of Jeannie soon.
Yeah, I'm happy for fans of that show too....but my God, Sony needs to move faster. They have a ton of stuff that needs to be released. Such a snail's pace is unfathomable to me.
B&W fan 11-06-2006, 02:57 PM This latest announcement from Sony is just one more indicator that "classic" tv on dvd is drying up quick. The only thing the studios are willing to put out are more recent shows. Of course, Sony has an aversion to anything black and white so it's doubly true for them versus some other studios that at least try to put stuff out from the 50's and 60's.
B&W "it's been a year since the last installment of The Partridge Family was released - doesn't look good at this point" Fan
Robert 13 11-06-2006, 04:26 PM This latest announcement from Sony is just one more indicator that "classic" tv on dvd is drying up quick.
I know. It's sad. There's so much great stuff still unavailable on dvd. Sony doesn't seem to have a huge release list in terms of tv-on-dvd or movies in the coming months. Maybe they aren't doing so well for dvd sales in general. Just a thought.
As for the more current shows on dvd... it seems like people wouldn't want to buy these as much since they are currently on the air. It seems more plausible to have the rare stuff that hasn't been seen in years on tv. Either way, right now, there is nothing coming out in the next couple of months that is on my wish list.
TV DVD Fan 11-06-2006, 04:49 PM Big, big disappointment.
comedyfreak 11-06-2006, 04:53 PM They could just colorize the B&W if that's what they're afraid of, that way maybe they will hook the new generation on older shows. That's what they did to a couple of the Three Stooges dvd's, not sure if it worked though.
Robert 13 11-06-2006, 05:12 PM Big, big disappointment.
:D Hey, I hear ya.
Kristen 11-06-2006, 11:45 PM Pav, was this Sony's last announcement for 2006? Do you know of any more coming in the near future?
- Kristen
Pavan 11-06-2006, 11:47 PM Kristen: That was their first TV DVD announcement for 2007. King of Queens will street Jan. 16. As of now, I don't know anything else for them. I'll keep an eye out.

Thanks, Pav. I meant, is Sony going to make any more announcements in the next couple of months, or are they done for the year. I'm a bit disappointed, b/c I was really hoping The Nanny Season 3 would be the announcement.
But anyway, thanks again. :)
Pavan 11-07-2006, 12:57 AM They announce titles every Monday. TV DVDs are usually 2-3 weeks a month.
Scoobiedoo30 11-07-2006, 02:15 AM I hope they Announced that Benson comes out soon

You and me both. I'm about ready to strangle those people. GET MOVING!!
Scoobiedoo30 11-07-2006, 11:10 AM I pray every night that Benson comes out on DVD
JulieSomoski 11-08-2006, 04:45 PM I'm also hoping for Benson, and maybe Season 3 of the Nanny, Season 6 of the Jeffersons, and season 2 of Who's the Boss(not gonna happen.)
In my opinion, if they are going to release one or 2 seasons of ashow and then stop releasing them, why not just sell them to a smaller company who will release them, even if they aren't as great. Who cares! All we want are the episodes.
Pavan 11-11-2006, 03:04 PM Sony has another returning set (a sitcom) coming out Jan. 30. They will announce it a week from this Monday (Nov. 20). I think more people will be happier than the last announcement. Especially if you are an older TV fan.
Let's hope February will bring NEW DVD Sets. I personally am waiting for: What's Happening Now!!, Benson, and One Day at a Time.
Scoobiedoo30 11-11-2006, 03:20 PM I hope one of The Show's is Benson

Will I be happy Pav?-lol
B&W fan 11-11-2006, 03:57 PM Will I be happy Pav?-lol
Hmmm. I was going to ask the same thing, although I'm generally pessimistic about the shows I like being released because they really are "older" sitcoms.
B&W "if the sitcom Pav is referring to is one of the two I've mentioned in the last couple of pages of this thread I'll be shocked" Fan
Adamantium 11-11-2006, 06:24 PM My 3 guesses are:
Hazel: The Complete Second Season
All in the Family: The Complete Sixth Season
The Partridge Family: The Complete Third Season
vashti1999 11-11-2006, 06:36 PM All in the Family: The Complete Sixth Season
It's probably that. Combination of more people will be happy and older TV fan, I think that sounds like the best fit.
Robert 13 11-11-2006, 08:01 PM It's probably that. Combination of more people will be happy and older TV fan, I think that sounds like the best fit.
I hope it's AITF. I'm also hoping What's Happening Now!! gets a release soon. I want to see more of Shirley Hemphill. :)
TVFactFan 11-11-2006, 08:43 PM It's probably that. Combination of more people will be happy and older TV fan, I think that sounds like the best fit.
MAybe it's the Jeffersons Season 6?-lol
JulieSomoski 11-12-2006, 02:03 PM Yeah, here are my 2 guesses:
The Jeffersons: The Complete Sixth Season - IF they have gotten 5 seasons out so far, those have assumably sold well, so a sixth season would be no problem.
All in the Family - Same reason.
The Nanny - it just seems to me that this show will get a third season release.
Here's what I hope it would be:
The Jeffersons, Mad About You(even though it will never happen), or The Nanny.
Scoobiedoo30 11-15-2006, 10:47 AM I also hope it is The Jefferson season 6
JulieSomoski 11-15-2006, 04:32 PM Well we now that surprisingly enough the Complete Third Season of Mad About You is coming in the first part of 2007, so this could be the release they were talking about. Or since Pav said you'd be happy if you were an older fan, The Jeffersons or All in the Family.
Robert 13 11-15-2006, 04:39 PM I was hoping it would be for Season 6 of All in the Family but I think it's going to be for Season 3 of I Dream Of Jeannie. There are rumors circulating that this info came from a reliable source. I'm looking forward to the episode, My Master, the Ghostbreaker and the 4-parter where Jeannie gets locked in the safe.
Scoobiedoo30 11-15-2006, 04:40 PM it still might be season 6 of All In The Family
Robert 13 11-17-2006, 03:58 PM So it looks like the official announcement on Monday is not about All in the Family but Season 6 is just around the corner according to TVshowsondvd.com. The official release date hasn't been announced just yet but they say it is coming in Feb./March 2007. This means Monday's announcement must be something else...I Dream Of Jeannie??? Can't wait to find out.
I'm hoping we also see What's Happening Now!! and Archie Bunker's Place - Season 2 announced for first quarter 2007. And how about Square Pegs?
ikhuri 11-17-2006, 04:02 PM According to Videoeta.com, it IS "I Dream of Jeannie", that's being announced on Nov. 20 for a Jan. 30 release. But, at least we know that "All in the Family Season 6" will be out in the first quarter of 2007.
Imad
So it looks like the official announcement on Monday is not about All in the Family but Season 6 is just around the corner according to TVshowsondvd.com.
B&W fan 11-20-2006, 12:57 PM It's official now, guys. And it will be "I Dream of Jeannie - Season 3." Not a horrible choice, especially for older fans. Just like Pav told us.
B&W "the best, and I do mean best, news that Sony could ever deliver as far as I'm concerned would be that they are releasing the biggest 50's classic in their library - 'Father Knows Best' - but I'm not holding my breath" Fan
Pavan 11-20-2006, 01:17 PM Yep, IDOJ S3!
Barbara Eden & Larry Hagman Uncork the Magic
On DVD January 30
I DREAM OF JEANNIE:
THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON
Slapstick Mayhem and Romantic Chemistry Abounds
in the Four-Disc Set with All 26 Colorful Episodes
Culver City, CA (November 20, 2006) – Back in the blink of an eye are Barbara Eden (TV’s “Harper Valley PTAâ€) as Jeannie and Larry Hagman (TV’s “Dallasâ€) as Major Nelson, with cast mates Bill Daily (TV’s “The Bob Newhart Showâ€) as Major Roger Healey, Hayden Rorke (The Unsinkable Molly Brown) as Dr. Bellows, and Emmaline Henry (Rosemary’s Baby) as Amanda Bellows when Sony Pictures Home Entertainment debuts I Dream of Jeannie: The Complete Third Season on DVD January 30. The four disc box set features all 26 episodes from the colorful third season and will be priced at $39.95 SRP.
Created by best-selling novelist and screenwriter Sidney Sheldon (The Other Side of Midnight, TV’s “Hart to Hartâ€), I Dream of Jeannie debuted on September 18, 1965, and ran for five seasons, cleverly maximizing the romantic chemistry between Eden and Hagman, superb special effects and slapstick comedy moments in every episode. Network censors of the day, ever mindful of keeping Miss Eden’s bellybutton covered, completely overlooked the fact that the show depicted a romantically-involved couple living together outside matrimony.
Third season highlights include three episodes shot on location in Hawaii, the first appearance of Jeannie’s evil sister (Eden in a black wig) and fun guest stars including Bob Denver (TV’s “Gilligan’s Islandâ€), comedian Don Rickles, Milton Berle (TV’s “The Milton Berle Showâ€), Mike Farrell (TV’s “M*A*S*Hâ€), Paul Lynde (TV’s “Bewitchedâ€), David Soul (TV’s “Starsky & Hutchâ€), Hawaiian singer Don Ho, Larry Storch (TV’s “F Troopâ€), Susan Howard (TV’s “Dallasâ€), Ted Cassidy (TV’s “The Addams Familyâ€) and music producer Phil Spector.

I Dream of Jeannie: The Complete Second Season has a run time of approximately 624 minutes and is not rated.
Robert 13 11-20-2006, 03:25 PM I'm surprised that they didn't mention the 4-parter in the write-up. This is the biggest storyline this season when Jeannie gets locked in the safe. Anyhow, I'm very excited by this release. This is where the series got really good. I'm looking forward to picking up my copy. Thanks for posting the Press Release, Pavan! :)
Robert 13 01-05-2007, 01:31 PM Are there any Sony announcements coming in the near future? I think the last release so far would be All in the Family. We haven't heard anything for March or April yet, have we? Just wondering if anyone knows. :)
Pavan 01-05-2007, 01:41 PM There might be some for late March, not sure yet.
Pavan 01-06-2007, 02:32 PM For late March (announcements will start this Monday): Maude, Mary Hartman Mary Hartman and Jeffersons S6. There could be more, but this is all I hear.
Scoobiedoo30 01-06-2007, 02:35 PM I know I will be getting Maude when it comnes out on DVD
For late March (announcements will start this Monday): Maude, Mary Hartman Mary Hartman and Jeffersons S6. There could be more, but this is all I hear.
Thanks Pavan! More Jeffersons! :-) The sixth season features the episodes "Now You See It, Now You Don't- Parts 1 and 2" (the Halloween episode where the killer rabbit attempts to off Louise)... its one of my favorites.
Scoobiedoo30 01-06-2007, 04:48 PM maybe Benson will be one of the other DVD'S that come out in March of 2007
TVJunkie101 01-06-2007, 04:58 PM Wow! Thanks Pav. That's AWESOME news.
I cannot wait for Maude and Mary Hartman Mary Hartman! And it's always good to hear news about The Jeffersons!
Adamantium 01-06-2007, 06:30 PM Now is season six of The Jeffersons, the return of Mike Evans as Lionel? And is that also his final season?
I'll definitely get Maude. Not too sure about Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Hopefully NewsRadio, season five will come out soon. But I know it will come out. Even if it's like Good Times and Sanford and Son - where they have all but the last season out and take forever to release the final year.
Buffyboy323 01-07-2007, 03:13 AM I wish Sony would release more Diff`rent Strokes Seasons. And they really need to hurry and get the finale 3 Seasons of All In The Family released.
I want One Dat At A Time too. There were previews for it on the 1st disc of the first Facts Of Life DVD, but we haven't heard anything in months.
Buffyboy323 01-07-2007, 03:17 AM I've been waiting for Maude for a long time. I can't wait to get it.
canuckkidd 01-07-2007, 12:23 PM I hope they release future seasons of The Facts of Life, I want to own every season. :)
Robert 13 01-08-2007, 11:53 AM Thanks for the info Pavanbadal! You rock!
I might pick Maude up, if the price is right, on the day of release. It's a great set for any classic tv fan to have.
I'm hoping for more Sony annoucements soon. I'm repeating myself but...
What's Happening Now!!
more The Facts Of Life
more Hart to Hart
more Archie Bunker's Place
and Square Pegs
:)
vashti1999 01-08-2007, 11:57 AM Hopefully NewsRadio, season five will come out soon. But I know it will come out. Even if it's like Good Times and Sanford and Son - where they have all but the last season out and take forever to release the final year.
You lucked out, didn't have to wait a whole year.
I want One Dat At A Time too. There were previews for it on the 1st disc of the first Facts Of Life DVD, but we haven't heard anything in months.
I'm hoping that comes out next.
BensonFan 01-08-2007, 12:19 PM maybe Benson will be one of the other DVD'S that come out in March of 2007
We can dream, can't we? :)
Adamantium 01-08-2007, 05:45 PM We can dream, can't we? :)
I'm not a huge Benson fan, but I'd definitely buy it on DVD, if/when it comes out.
Meanwhile, I'm psyched about NewsRadio. No more worries after this season comes out. With it being the final season.
Robert 13 01-21-2007, 02:10 AM Anymore news on what's next for Sony? Pavan, do you have an inside scoop? I'm hoping for an announcement for the next season of "Facts Of Life". And how about "Hazel"? The next season marks the start of the color episodes apart from the one episode in the first season. "What's Happening Now!!" doesn't seem to be doing so well on the poll but, hopefully, that won't matter. I want Season One so we can see more of Shirley Hemphill. :)
And "Hart to Hart" Season 3???
Pavan 01-21-2007, 02:11 AM Nothing in early April. Not sure about mid and late April yet.

Felix Na Vi Da 01-21-2007, 09:43 AM I would love if Sony started putting out Season Sets for The Real Ghostbusters. I got so excited last year when a DVD was announced but I think this show dserves better then a best-of. The sad thing is I don't think Sony thinks this will sell and they coulden't be further from the truth.
I would love to see Werewolf and The $treet as well
treky 01-22-2007, 03:26 AM I wish Sony would get their act together and release the remaining seasons of BARNEY MILLER!!!   It's been like 3 or 4 years now since season 1 came out
Robert 13 01-25-2007, 10:55 AM Nothing in early April. Not sure about mid and late April yet.
Thanks Pav! We always appreciate the early scoop from you.
Sony must have something planned for May. They have a lot of unfinished shows on their roster not to mention ones that they haven't even started yet. I hope they continue releasing FOL at a steady pace. They were showing a lot of the later season episode clips when the girls did promos and we are nowhere near seeing those on dvd yet.
JulieSomoski 01-25-2007, 04:18 PM Is there any word at all yet as to when the third season of The Nanny will come out on DVD? I heard the first 2 seasons sold really well, yet we haven't heard a thing from them, and it is going on a year since the second season.
TV DVD Fan 01-25-2007, 05:49 PM Thanks Pav! We always appreciate the early scoop from you.

True, very true Robert... Sony definately moves at a snail's pace when it comes to TFOL, and pretty much everything else too. But here's what you might call a scoop from Sony Music--- Ozzie and Harriett! Check out that board for more details. It's even listed on Amazon for release on May 1st, and it's doubtful that it's a PD release, as it even says "The Nelson Family Presents...". And the studio listed is Sony Music in the release info.
Robert 13 02-06-2007, 10:54 AM Just thought I would post that Sony is probably going to announce "One Day At A Time" soon. I'm not a fan of the show but I thought fans would want to know and I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that will be happy about this news.
Sony hasn't had the avalanche of announcements as of late. I hope we hear something soon about "Hazel", "The Facts Of Life", "What's Happening Now!!", "Hart to Hart" or maybe, dare I say it, "Square Pegs". :)
Robert 13 02-16-2007, 12:31 PM Pavanbadal, any news on what's next for Sony. Since One Day at a Time was just announced, is there going to be a lull in the TV-on-dvd releases or is there more to come? :)
Pavan 02-16-2007, 12:47 PM May 1 is the next King of Queens I think. I don't have details on the rest of May yet.
Robert 13 02-16-2007, 04:58 PM Thanks for the info. I hope there are plans on that bunch that I mentioned earlier. I'm thinking "Facts" must have an announcement soon. Not sure what to make about "What's Happening Now!!" with that Sony poll. Would also love to see Season 2 of "Archie Bunker's Place" but that may be a bit pre-mature since AITF has not completed it's run yet.
Thanks again! :)
mlingerfelt 02-18-2007, 04:57 PM hope The Rookies in there too.
Robert 13 02-28-2007, 11:02 AM Looks like no announcements for anything new this week. :(
applecherry 03-02-2007, 06:33 AM Does Anyone Know How Many Dvd Set Has To Be Sold Before The Studios Consider A Second Or Third Season Etc...........
Or How Much Of A Profit Has To Be Made For The Studios.
MichaelKeith 03-02-2007, 10:23 AM How I wish Sony would release season 2 of Hazel on DVD soon, if they plan to at all. What a great family show. Has anyone heard if they plan to do so? Thanks, Michael:cool:
Robert 13 03-06-2007, 11:13 AM We haven't received a new Sony announcement in a while. They don't seem to have much up their sleeves for tv-on-dvd these days. I thought 2007 would be full with Sony releases. Maybe they're waiting for "Maude", "The Jeffersons" and "One Day at a Time" to come out before they announce anything else. They have so much left to release. Where's "Hart to Hart", the next "Facts Of Life", more "All in the Family", and yes..."Hazel"???
JulieSomoski 03-06-2007, 04:36 PM There are so many unreleased shows left to come from Sony . . . like Benson and What's Happening Now!, plus the others like Who's the Boss? and The Nanny. I just don't understand why Sony has to be the slowest releasing company out there, yet they have the largest library of shows to release.
Eric Paddon 03-06-2007, 05:50 PM Sony is right now moving ahead of Universal in the disgraceful "one and done" category with titles like "Barney Miller" (the most disgraceful handling of any title by a major studio) and "Fantasy Island" now in limbo. Universal at least finally is returning after two years to "Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew" and might also be doing so with "Baa Baa Black Sheep" which is cause for hope on other abandoned titles from that studio. Not so with Sony (though Fox is now on the verge of matching Sony in the disgrace department with their handling of MTM titles)
BensonFan 03-06-2007, 05:55 PM There are so many unreleased shows left to come from Sony . . . like Benson and What's Happening Now!, plus the others like Who's the Boss? and The Nanny. No one understands it. People like me have been waiting a while. I guess they don't want to make $$!!
Scoobiedoo30 03-08-2007, 04:05 PM I just wish that they would release Benson on DVD
Kristen 03-09-2007, 03:30 AM Pav, do you know of any upcoming Sony announcements? I'm still waiting for The Nanny S3, as well as Designing Women S1. Both of which I know I'm not alone in wanting!
- Kristen
mlingerfelt 03-09-2007, 07:48 AM as I said so many times Sony drags there feet so much. they need to release S2 227,Who,s The Boss and SWAT S3 Different Strokes. and THE Rookies and What,s Happenin Now.
Robert 13 03-09-2007, 11:16 AM I think a lot of people would buy What's Happening Now!! and the Sony poll is not a good indication of that. I hope they already intend to release it with or without the votes.
Chain Gang Member 03-12-2007, 04:16 PM I've got the complete series of Grosse Pointe
Pavan 03-14-2007, 01:20 PM Sony only has King of Queens for May. June 5 will be the next date with DVDs coming. Announcements will be March 26.
Robert 13 03-14-2007, 03:22 PM Oh please let it be more Facts Of Life, Hart to Hart, What's Happening Now!! or Hazel. :happyface
JulieSomoski 03-14-2007, 03:55 PM June 5th seems to be the right date for The Facts of Life S4, looking back at the other release dates. Same goes for The Nanny.
mlingerfelt 03-17-2007, 08:58 AM I hope its S3 Different Strokes.
Eric Paddon 03-17-2007, 12:49 PM Why not Season 2 of "Barney Miller?" This is by far the one title ever released by Sony that's gotten the rawest deal.
Sony should also get off their butts regarding "Fantasy Island" and put out a second season of that as well, and shows like "Charlie's Angels" and "Swat" should get their runs finished too.
Robert 13 03-19-2007, 10:08 AM Although I'm hoping for Season 4 of "The Facts of Life", I'm surprised Sony hasn't released more of "Fantasy Island". That show is like guest-star paradise.
TVListinGuy 03-21-2007, 12:05 AM It's looking like Sony will be releasing Seinfeld Season 8 on June 5th, which means we should get the final season in November.
vashti1999 03-25-2007, 08:22 PM Silver Spoons and What's Happening Now in June.

Pavan 03-25-2007, 08:24 PM Hmm they announced it before the announce dates, not like TVShowsonDVD at all.
mlingerfelt 03-25-2007, 09:10 PM now bring on S3 of Different Strokes.
Pavan 03-25-2007, 09:12 PM Diff'rent Strokes S3 would go well with Silver Spoons S1...hopefully Sony agrees.
JulieSomoski 03-26-2007, 03:39 PM Wow, it looks like Sony is actually listening to what we havet o say. we have been trying to get these 2 shows on DVD for years, and now they are finally coming, and in the same month too.
Eric Paddon 03-26-2007, 05:24 PM Two titles I have zero interest in, and more anger on my part at how Sony will always keep rolling out other shows while leaving a long broken trail of abandoned titles that deserve more releases first.
mlingerfelt 03-26-2007, 10:46 PM I wish they would release S2 Who,s the Boss and 227.
Pavan 03-27-2007, 12:34 AM Sony has been very good so far in 2007 with new sitcom releases: Maude, One Day at a Time, Mary Hartman, and now What's Happening Now!! and Silver Spoons.
Sony will have a magical year if they release these also this year:
Benson
Dennis the Menace
Designing Women
Father Knows Best
And maybe these, if they have a chance:
Checking In
Fernwood2Night
Fish
Gloria
Grady
Hello, Larry
My Two Dads
One in a Million
Sanford
Sanford Arms
Square Pegs
But Sony's problem is continuing the series...just ask 227, Who's the Boss and Barney Miller.

Wow, Pav! That's some list. You hit upon 3 of the ones I would absolutely buy if released...One in a Million, Gloria and Square Pegs. Incidentally, I'm surprised they haven't released Square Pegs yet considering it stars Sex & The City star Sarah Jessica Parker. This would surely be a successful release for them. I would love a complete dvd set of Gloria. I've never seen One in a Million but I would grab it on the day of release because I love Shirley Hemphill.
Robert 13 03-27-2007, 09:53 AM .
and you can throw in Archie Bunker's Place, The Flying Nun, The Partridge Family, Hazel and a few more I can't remember right now!
I am waiting for more Archie Bunker's Place, The Flying Nun, and Hazel as well as The Facts Of Life and Hart to Hart. I have a feeling we will, at least, see Archie Bunker's Place: Season 2 since it contains the episode explaining the death of Edith. It is a powerful episode and many who have not seen it will probably grab the set out of curiosity. As far as All in the Family, I wish they would hurry up and finish the series on dvd. They have completed Sanford & Son and Good Times ages ago.
GoldenGirlsFan92 03-27-2007, 05:31 PM I hope they will release more Maude Seasons soon.
mlingerfelt 03-27-2007, 09:32 PM I would buy Fish ,Sanford , Grady and Sanford Arms.
Kristen 03-31-2007, 01:20 AM Hey, Pav, someone just posted on the board for The Nanny that Sony isn't planning to release S3. Is that true, or just a rumor? I'd hate to think that yet ANOTHER company was pulling something like this!
Moonlit_Suburb 04-01-2007, 07:03 AM Diff'rent Strokes S3 would go well with Silver Spoons S1...hopefully Sony agrees.
I agree. Either that, or release Diff'rent Strokes S3 with Facts of Life S4. (there are 6 seasons left of each series; if this worked well for them, they could release the rest of the sets of these shows together.)
I'd also like to see Shout! release Punky Brewster S4 (final season) alongside Sony's Silver Spoons S1... but I don't think that'll happen.
As for other Sony shows I'd like to own on DVD, there's also It's Your Move! (I'm really hoping this show gets considered for a Complete Series DVD release if/when Silver Spoons sells well)
Robert 13 04-03-2007, 11:59 AM There were never any official announcements from Sony yesterday. I thought they were going to issue an official press release for What's Happening Now!! - The Complete First Season.
mlingerfelt 04-04-2007, 10:43 PM Sony does not keep there site updated like they used to.

mlingerfelt 04-08-2007, 03:35 PM there is only 1 more show that Sony needs to release The Rookies.
JulieSomoski 04-08-2007, 07:53 PM Pavan, do you know anything on The Nanny yet! There are obviously a lot of diehard fans of the show here on these message boards.
Pavan 04-23-2007, 10:29 AM Sony July:
July 10: Bewitched S5
July 17: The Rookies S1
July 24: Benson S1
Official announcements will be made later.
BensonFan 04-23-2007, 06:30 PM July 24: Benson S1
Please don't kid about this. Mentally I am very fragile. :p
Kristen 04-23-2007, 09:20 PM Pavan, do you know anything on The Nanny yet! There are obviously a lot of diehard fans of the show here on these message boards.
:yeahthat I REALLY hope it's not another victim of "poor sales" as several of my shows have been. Also, Pav, do you have any news on Designing Women? I really want that show, too.

Robert 13 04-24-2007, 09:53 AM Pav, I loved your news blog from yesterday about Sony's TV-on-dvd. It's a great recap of Sony's releases past, present and future. You included several of the ones I am yearning for on dvd... "Square Pegs", "One in a Million", "Gloria" and "Archie Bunker's Place". I'm also wondering what has happened with "The Facts Of Life". It hasn't been too long but I wonder if they are planning to release Season 3. Same with "Hart to Hart".
Thanks for the great write-up! :)
Looking forward to "What's Happening Now!!" !!
Anyone know if Sue Thomas FB Eye is going to get an official DVD release?
catlover79 04-24-2007, 02:46 PM What's the word on Bewitched Season 5 (or the complete series on DVD, for that matter)?? Season 4 was released 6 months ago and I haven't heard boo hiss about any further releases. GRRRR...
WAIT...
I take it back! I just fround out some terrific news!!
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7209
mlingerfelt 04-25-2007, 09:41 PM PTL finally they are gonna release The Rookies they need to release S2 of SWAT it would go good with S1 The Rookies.
Robert 13 06-12-2007, 12:20 PM I just picked up What's Happening Now!! Looking forward to seeing it. :)
Pav, any news on other Sony announcements? Late Fall, perhaps? I'm wondering when they will follow-up on The Facts Of Life and Hart to Hart. I would also love to see Square Pegs come out soon.
Pavan 06-12-2007, 01:00 PM All I see for August is 'Til Death on Aug. 21. Possibly something for Aug. 28 but announcement is Monday.
Robert 13 06-12-2007, 01:24 PM Thanks Pav! You're the best! :)
JulieSomoski 06-12-2007, 04:18 PM Sony has gotta be slacking off now more than ever. They give us What's Happening Now! and Silver Spoons, an deventually Benson, but nothing else lately, and I'm talking mostly about there abandoned series.
BensonFan 06-12-2007, 06:41 PM Sony has gotta be slacking off now more than ever. They give us What's Happening Now! and Silver Spoons, an deventually Benson, but nothing else lately, and I'm talking mostly about there abandoned series.
I think they are going to revisit the abandoned series sometime in the near future. The release of the shows you mentioned was probably due to a lot of us fans of those shows making countless requests to Sony and Sony finally deciding to listen to us. We'll see what happens in the next few months.
Robert 13 06-13-2007, 09:42 AM I think they need to start completing some of the series they started. It's time to continue with more seasons of shows they have already released one or more seasons of.
Here is my wish list:
The Facts Of Life: Season 4
Hart to Hart: Season 3
All In The Family: Season 7
Archie Bunker's Place: Season 2
Hazel: Season 2
And I know there are many fans out there awaiting more releases of Diff'rent Strokes and The Jeffersons.
Pavan 06-13-2007, 11:53 AM Rules of Engagement S1 on Sept. 4
Scoobiedoo30 06-13-2007, 12:07 PM How many episodes did Rulees of Engagment have in season 1
angel676 06-13-2007, 12:10 PM I would love to see Sony complete the series, The Nanny, Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes.
mlingerfelt 06-13-2007, 09:41 PM I would love to see Sony complete SWAT,227, Different Strokes,Who,s the Boss and Hart to Hart.
Robert 13 06-14-2007, 09:41 AM YES! :cheer: I want them to complete Hart to Hart and The Facts Of Life.
Cole016 06-14-2007, 06:59 PM Hi everyone, my very first post, even though I have been coming here and reading for awhile. I am anxious for more Facts of Life. Facts is one of my all time absolute favorite shows ever. I really hope Sony can get us some Season 4 information, and then step it up just a bit. I am really looking forward to Season 6 the most. My absolute favorite of the series.
Talk to you all soon,
Cole
mlingerfelt 06-16-2007, 11:45 PM WHN was number 31 DVD from Sony The Rookies will be number 32 in July.
mlingerfelt 07-12-2007, 10:18 PM anybody know what might be coming in October.
Robert 13 07-16-2007, 10:16 AM I think the last announcement we heard about was Married...with Children. I was hoping for more continuations. So far, we don't know anything about October or the end of 2007.
JulieSomoski 07-17-2007, 04:45 PM According to Wikipedia, The Nanny Season 3 will be coming out on December 17th. This is just a rumor, especially coming from Wikipedia, but I don't how real or how fake it is. I'm just hoping it's true.
Scoobiedoo30 07-17-2007, 04:48 PM just in time for Christmas
angel676 07-17-2007, 06:59 PM According to Wikipedia, The Nanny Season 3 will be coming out on December 17th.
Oh please let this be true, I really want to believe this, but I have my doubts about Wikipedia's info.
Robert 13 07-19-2007, 12:51 PM Does anyone know what Sony's plans are for the last 3 months of 2007? Their release schedule shows everything up until Sept. 25th with only a few tv sets sprinkled from now until then.
Pav, any inside scoop on whether Sony will reveal some new announcements before the end of 2007? :)
Pavan 07-19-2007, 02:22 PM No news for October and beyond yet.
ClassicTVGal 07-19-2007, 03:43 PM I am happy that Sony has AGREED to realease ALL 5 Seasons of Silver Spoons! :) {according to a truthful source} Just 2-5 to go...
I know people want WTB?, but nothing on that for a few years.
Hmm... can't think of others right now.
OT: I wish Fox would release more of Mary.
mlingerfelt 07-20-2007, 11:05 PM I believe also Sony has agreed to release all 4 seasons of The Rookies.
JulieSomoski 07-26-2007, 11:32 AM I'm hoping that with Who's the Boss? airing on ION, that will bring more people to want a second season release.
Robert 13 07-27-2007, 09:53 AM I'm very surprised at the lack of tv-on-dvd announcements from Sony lately. We haven't had a "classic tv" announcement in quite a while. I wonder if they are done this year.
Psparks 08-21-2007, 02:07 PM I counted 12 news items for today that popped up on tvshowondvd.com. None of them from Sony. I find that quite sad.
Seems like Sony is going to make us wait until next year with the way things are going.
Scoobiedoo30 08-21-2007, 02:43 PM what are the 12 news items
Pavan 08-21-2007, 02:58 PM Sony announces titles on Mondays. We will see quite a few I hear in November and December, so they are not done for 2007. October is slow for TV DVDs for Sony this year. They announced TNT's The Company yesterday and The Three Stooges Collection: 1934-1936 .
Adamantium 08-21-2007, 03:33 PM The Three Stooges 1934-1936? That's all? Don't get me wrong, I'll pick that set right up, even though I already have all of those on tape and most of those on DVD. I just figured when they did a Stooges volume, it would be, maybe 1934-39, or something like that. 1934 only has four episodes (or "shorts" as they're called.)
Oh well. This is still good news. I mean at least they're doing something for the Stooges.
GoldenGirlsFan92 08-21-2007, 09:45 PM I'm curious if they are going to release any more The nanny dvds.
Kristen 08-21-2007, 10:53 PM I'm curious if they are going to release any more The nanny dvds.
Join the club. Sony seems to drag their feet a lot of the time.

factsoflife 08-22-2007, 12:40 AM does anybody know anything about Facts Of Life Season 4? last year we got 2 FOL DVD's and so far none in 07... i would thinky they'd want to release it by November so it is ripe for the holiday season...
Scoobiedoo30 08-22-2007, 01:03 AM I am counting down until season 2 of Benson comes out
Robert 13 08-22-2007, 10:42 AM Sony announces titles on Mondays. We will see quite a few I hear in November and December, so they are not done for 2007.
When you say we'll see "quite a few" in November and December, do you mean announcements? Does that mean the actual release of new sets will not happen until the start of the year? I'm willing to wait as long as Facts and Hart to Hart are part of their plans. :)
As always, thanks for the inside word, Pav! :)
Pavan 08-22-2007, 11:17 AM Actual releases will be in those months.
angel676 08-22-2007, 04:26 PM I'm curious if they are going to release any more The nanny dvds.
You and me both! Sony is dragging their feet when it comes to The Nanny eps.

That's good to know, Pav. I'll start saying a few prayers. ;) (Hey, it can't hurt, can it?)
Mister Ed 08-23-2007, 12:00 AM You and me both! Sony is dragging their feet when it comes to The Nanny eps.
I'm with you. I finished watching those two sets months and months ago. Hopefully a new season will be out within the coming months. :)
Robert 13 08-23-2007, 01:17 PM Actual releases will be in those months.
Thanks Pav! Can't wait to find out what they are.
So far, it looks like Seinfeld is getting the final season as well as the complete series treatment on November 6th. I'm sure there are many happy Seinfeld fans out there.
I'm hoping the other releases for the remainder of 2007 include The Facts Of Life, Hart to Hart and All in the Family.
Kristen 08-23-2007, 10:36 PM Hey, Pav, can you give us any hints on what shows to expect?
peter may 08-26-2007, 12:49 PM hopefully theyll pull there finger out there ass and release season 3 of just shoot me
Robert 13 08-28-2007, 10:23 AM Well, last week was the big Seinfeld week. I'm sure there were many happy Seinfeld fans. This week, again nothing in the classic tv department. Unless Sony has an announcement next week, I fear that they have no plans for more classic tv anytime soon. Really sad too because they were doing really well earlier this year by starting some of the shows that haven't been seen in a while. It was giving them quite a library of dvd sets on the market. Yet, they're failing in continuing series and bringing them to completion.
gotsmart 08-28-2007, 11:15 AM Where are the second releases for Maude and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman? I know that Maude did very well in sales and I think Mary Hartman did decently as well. And what about One Day at a Time? I'm guessing if these three get 2nd releases it won't be until spring putting each of these shows at 1 set a year.
And while I'm at it where is the rest of Who's the Boss?, Hazel, The Partridge Family, Barney Miller, The Flying Nun, The Nanny, and Archie Bunker's Place? Have these ALL been abandoned?
Why haven't they started releasing the more classic shows? I know they have the rights to The Patty Duke Show but do they also have the rights to Father Knows Best and My Three Sons?
I am happy that they are doing complete sets for Seinfeld and The King of Queens. Even though it is a punch in the stomach for fans supporting the season sets it shows (in the case of King of Queens) that they are willing to produce new bonus features which is one thing that Sony is lazy about.
Psparks 08-28-2007, 11:31 AM Hopefully there will be a flurry of announcements from Sony next month.
Cole016 08-28-2007, 05:02 PM I thought there was supposed to be a big announcement from Sony yesterday 8/27 about TV DVD's for Nov and Dec. What happened? Was I misinformed? I seriously want Facts of Life Season 4 w/ Paris very soon. Why do these things need to take so long? If it's going to be years why can't they just release the Series DVD Set and call it a day already?
Pavan 08-28-2007, 05:49 PM The big announcement was for Seinfeld coming Nov. 6. It was supposed to be announced officially yesterday, but the trades broke the story late last week.
Announcements for Nov. 13 and on are still not announced, so OBVIOUSLY there will be some TV DVD announcements between Nov. 13-Dec. 25, so let's calm down.
Robert 13 09-06-2007, 10:16 AM Monday is rolling around again soon. I wonder if this will be the week of Sony announcements. :)
Psparks 09-19-2007, 02:07 PM do they also have the rights to Father Knows Best and My Three Sons?
I read in another forum where someone emailed Shout Factory about Father Knows Best. Apparently they are working on it and the first season may be released in early part of 2008.
Just thought you would like to know...
TV_Fan 09-21-2007, 10:43 PM Shout Factory stated today that they are not working on it. They only said there is an excellent chance that Shout Factory might release it sometime in the future.
Robert 13 09-23-2007, 05:57 PM It's been a really long time now since Sony has announced more classic TV-on-DVD. Any possible releases would now be timed very close to Christmas. I wonder if they are experimenting with release strategies to capitalize on holiday shopping. Hmmm, could be a good time to release the next season of All in the Family. I wonder what's coming next.
gotsmart 09-23-2007, 06:18 PM I wonder if they are experimenting with release strategies to capitalize on holiday shopping. Hmmm, could be a good time to release the next season of All in the Family. I wonder what's coming next.
I doubt it. The next season of All in the Family is likey to come out in January/Febuary. But I hope I'm wrong. It would be great if we could get 2 releases a year of AITF. Also I would like to get at least 2 releases of Married with Children too.
Sony really is getting on my nerves. They have abandoned SO many series and those that aren't abandoned take forever to come out.
Sony is getting really sickening. Where's Who's the Boss? And what about Hazel? Has that been abandoned too? And what about 227? Barney Miller? Partridge Family? One Day at a Time? They are so slow....hopefully when the 'big' shows they're trying to roll out like Bewitched, All in the Family, I Dream of Jeannie, etc. are done they'll come back to these.
Kristen 10-02-2007, 10:21 PM I know what you mean. I keep hoping every Monday that I'll get an email from TVShowsonDVD.com, and it hasn't happened yet. I'd like at least ONE of my shows (besides Wings, b/c I already know about that) to come out before the year is over!
applecherry 10-02-2007, 10:53 PM Sony is getting really sickening. Where's Who's the Boss? And what about Hazel? Has that been abandoned too? And what about 227? Barney Miller? Partridge Family? YEAH ! I HOPE SO. BEWITCHED, I DREAM OF JEANNIE, & ALL IN THE FAMILY, MY 3 FAVORITES
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SONY
Robert 13 10-03-2007, 10:17 AM I think Sony might be done for the year now. Not sure if any announcements would have a 2007 release date. I think everything that is announced now will be released in 2008.
It's too bad Sony didn't cash in on a lot of shows this year. There were plenty of good sellers that they let fall to the side. A lot of studios are releasing new sets just in time for the holidays. I thought Sony might do the same. They're pretty much banking on King Of Queens and Seinfeld. Maybe next year, they will devote more energy to releasing more seasons of the shows they have already started.
Pavan 10-03-2007, 10:23 AM I think whatever they had scheduled for December TV DVD wise is no longer on the docket. We'll see a lot in January.
Robert 13 10-03-2007, 10:40 AM Pav, is there hope for more seasons of The Facts Of Life?
JulieSomoski 10-03-2007, 03:28 PM Pav, is there hope for more seasons of The Facts Of Life?
That, and the Nanny. Both shows, I thought, were selling quite well, but after 2 releases, we haven't seen another. Then there's The Jeffersons, All in the Family, and Mad About You . . . I'm pretty sure we'll see another release from all 3 shows next year.
A question for you Pavanbadal....I know you can't know for sure, but is there even a glimmer of hope that 227, Barney Miller, or Who's the Boss? will see future releases? It's been three years+ and nothing. Which one of these do you think would be most likely for a future release? They need to do something.
Pavan 10-03-2007, 05:53 PM I am not sure. I think 227 and Who's the Boss could have a shot. In fact 227 was almost scheduled for fall 2006 I think, but never happened obviously.
And Sony will release the returning shows with more than a season already released (Facts of Life, The Nanny, etc)...they are just slow.
Thanks. Hopefully once the big shows are done they'll come back and take care of this unfinished business.
It's quite amusing that That's My Mama is entirely on DVD but shows like I mentioned just have one season.
JulieSomoski 10-03-2007, 07:26 PM I am not sure. I think 227 and Who's the Boss could have a shot. In fact 227 was almost scheduled for fall 2006 I think, but never happened obviously.
And Sony will release the returning shows with more than a season already released (Facts of Life, The Nanny, etc)...they are just slow.
With WTB on ION and doing well, you'd think this would be a good time for Sony to release another season.
It's already been a a year and a half already since season 2 of the Nanny. Usually they release a season a year, which would mean both Facts of Life and The Nanny should be getting a release this year. And Mad About You already got a release this year . . . in February. I heard the third season sold pretty well.
Kristen 10-03-2007, 11:07 PM I am not sure. I think 227 and Who's the Boss could have a shot. In fact 227 was almost scheduled for fall 2006 I think, but never happened obviously.
And Sony will release the returning shows with more than a season already released (Facts of Life, The Nanny, etc)...they are just slow.
You have NO idea how happy this news makes me! :D Season 3 of The Nanny is my absolute fave! Thanks for the heads up, Pav.
