View Full Version : tradder check passionsfan79 08-30-2006, 07:39 PM abblessed316@aol.com has anyone heard of this tradder before? Lamont 08-31-2006, 08:55 PM did u learn anything on the guy?:) passionsfan79 08-31-2006, 09:42 PM just that he was gonna let me know when he was gonna mail the dvds. T-Greg 09-01-2006, 10:35 AM I'm not coming up with anything. It's likely a new email address. savageamusement 09-01-2006, 12:15 PM If the meail doesn't strike any info, remember you can put in the CITY and STATE. Do not put the exact address. If you are supposed to send I am assuming they have shared their address by now, most often a city/stae will ring a bell faster than an email since meails can change far more easily And let us not forget AOL is free now. Just like Hotmail and Yahoo, and Juno. savageamusement 09-01-2006, 10:34 PM Sigh I have reason to believe this is another user on here as well passionsfan79 09-01-2006, 11:09 PM I havent even seen this guy post on here. He also emailed me on another accont to see if I had any episodes of Different Strokes because thats what he emailed me about he claimed that he had the complete set. Once I got the email I was starting to wonder. savageamusement 09-02-2006, 02:07 AM When in doubt, have them send first. If they refuse, make the offer ot have them send to an unbiased party. IN example at times before I have had trader A and trader B both send to me. When both are received, I send both sides out. If nothing is received form the opposite party, the items are returned That way a third party moderates/mediates the situation What you have to ask yourself is if they are not a member here- How did they come across you- Why are they trying to trade OFF a site, when that offers no protection As a last resort- If you click on "see full headers" form their aol email- Send it to me or another modeartor and we can run it against previous troublesome users. Or previous users stating the same items were available. Most often, a user is chased off the Sitcoms site for bad trading or scamming and they create a new account, and use it only to see and check email addresses- they contact peopel off the site, offer to trade, but the perosn has to send first And then nothing arrives If you want to trade this way, be willing to lose what you send. My advice is always the same Get their name/trader name/user name and run a check- Either here, or the yahoo sites or traders report. if nothing comes back, conisder that. Consider their email source. Is it a paid account, is it a free account Consider their items are they rare? Conisder the fact if they are new, and they contacted you, why are you expected to send first. And last but not least- if the trade goes bad- What will yo udo. You have no user name. No trader name- They were not on a site, to be moderated or removed. You have an address, that you sent- which can be anything frm a friend to workplace, to email buddy they asked to received a package. SO you have - really, nothing to forewarn others. I am not saying every new trader has to send first, and I am not saying every new trader is a bad trader. But what I am saying is, take precaution, because this person, you ran a check on, has not just contacted you. 2 others have written me- and they privately told them the same thing- and also asked to send first. So why are they contacting people off Sitcoms, as a non member. If they are obviouslly trying to trade multiple times, with multiple users. Why aren't they trying to build up a reputation. If they really want to trade you, have them send first. They can research you, they know who you are- you are an established trader But my guess, they will have an excuse not to send first. And my other guess is, they have nothing to send anyhow. Its hit or miss for every 5 people they contact ONE will be dumb enough to send first. If you send me the COMPLETE headers for the email they sent you off aol, I think I know who to compare it to- my email is savageamusement@comcast.net savageamusement 09-06-2006, 10:54 PM Well I was contacted by them tonight 3x They contacted me, in request I remove them from the "trade with caution" area of Sitcoms. Stating that since they are not a member here, I can not add them. I disagree, and have as in the past always updated this list to those who are bad sellers bad traders And suspicious behavior. The fact is Their IP does in fact route to NY while their address states Florida They are only asking people to send first They have shows NO one has seen on a list in a decade And no one has any dealings with them No feedback nor can they find a membership for them on any site. And yet, they contacted to date, at least a dozen users- So whiel they told me tonight they are not ON this site They don't mind hwoever using the site to contact members- This site was designed to provide a safe trading harbor for users with modeartors, owners, administrators to help avoid scamming, and manipulative or deceptive behavior The information - such as emails and lists are a privledge to those members, here- to set up safe trades. To contact users, and read the site, without being a member- to try to set up trades offering no security- goes against the very idea of the system we have in place. And therefore I stand my ground and will not remove them from the list. As well they are on 2 Yahoo Scammer Alert lists, as well as 2 private sites I frequent. So why they are selecting this site, makes me wonder as has the rest of their behavior thus far. However, I stand by the fact I feel contacting members on a site you are not registered to, asking them to send first and set up a trade that has no protection, IS SUSPICIOUS. if anyone disagrees with this, please let me know. Lamont 09-06-2006, 11:06 PM they are on scammer lists on other groups????? HELLO??? that is a pretty good indication wouldnt u say???? what is the old saying.... a leopard dont change his spots!!!!!  digitalmonkey 09-06-2006, 11:43 PM Well I was contacted by them tonight 3x They contacted me, in request I remove them from the "trade with caution" area of Sitcoms.
