Warner Bros. is producing a prequel to last year's Dukes of Hazzard movie, itself a remake of the early '80s TV series. A prequel makes it an easy way to replace the high-priced triumvirate of Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott and Jessica Simpson. You know, 'cause they're all younger.
Thus this early first look of Jonathan Bennett as Bo, April Scott as Daisy, and Randy Wayne as Luke. The pic has been posted to Warner Home Video's official site for the upcoming direct-to-DVD release entitled Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning.
The site also sheds some light on the plot for the movie. Cousins Bo and Luke are arrested and paroled to life in Hazzard, Georgia under the watchful eye of their Uncle Jesse. (Willie Nelson will be reprising the role from the 2005 film.)
The boys will also meet up with their fellow cousin, the ugly duckling Daisy Duke. Of course, homely Daisy makes the transformation to smokin' hot swan by the end of the movie.
The Dukes will battle Boss Hogg, this time played by Christopher McDonald -- you know, Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore. Sherilyn Finn will play Hogg's life Lulu. Also, in a brilliant bit of casting, Harland Williams will play Roscoe. Rounding out the cast are Trishelle Cannatella (the MTV Real World alum) and Jennifer Hill as the beautiful Handy sisters.
No word on the DVD release yet.
