View Full Version : Did Weezy deserve the insults from Mother Jefferson?

Weezy didn't deserve them, but you have to admit, they were funny. Mother Jefferson insulted Weezy everytime she made in appearance. I always looked forward to seeing Mother Jefferson just so I could hear an insult. LOL

I would say she did not deserve the insults, but they were hilarious tho. Then again Weezy fired right back at her to make it double the fun. :happyface

I can kind of relate to Mother Jefferson now since my Mom is seeing a guy that I feel is not much. So Mother Jefferson basically felt like George could do a lot better than Louise and that's how I feel about my Mom's current situation-lol

Oh Kool, I so agree with you. It was so damn funny. True, those insults were totally uncalled for...but it sure made for some funny moments.

George couldn't do better because it took a great lady to put up with George and his antics, attitude and shortness.

I really liked Mother Jefferson, but she was out of line. It's not like George and Louise were just dating. They were married for years and had a child together.

Yup
So, instead of George being married to a woman who loved him, was faithful to him, put up with him, was committed to him throughhout bad times, poor times and other times, he should have married a woman who was ready to drop him at any moment something better came along???? That is, a MAN WITH $$$$ instead of believing in your man and sticking with him through rough times hoping he will make it big some day....

If that is what you think makes a great lady, I feel sorry for you. So what if Barbara's character was better looking...IT DIDN'T MAKE HER A BETTER WOMAN overall. Louise had character, charm, was devoted, honest and loved him NO MATTER WHAT.

Weezy was devoted to George and wouldn't drop him for anyone. She loved him. The character played by Barbara didn't love him, or she wouldn't have left him for some jive turkey that had "instant money" who later on ended up with nothing.

Gosh, Mother Jefferson treated poor Weezy like poo. Mother Jefferson was worse than the typical mother-in-law. I never understood why she was so mean to Louise. Weezy was with George way before he had any money, so Mother Jefferson should just be glad that her son wasn't mixed up with some gold-digger.

Exactly. Had he ended up with that Barbara McNair character, George wouldn't even be rich.
George even told her when she came around that "none of this would be yours" because HAD HE chosen her over Louise, he would have followed a different path in life and never made it $$$ wise the way he did while married to Louise. He went on and on telling that character how all she wanted was $$$, have fun, etc. Louise gave stability to George.

So Solomon, stop making it seem like beauty and attractiveness is all there is to women. Beauty only goes so far and it fades. Intelligience and graciousness lasts forever, and that is what Louise had, along with many other characteristics.

Ahh, you just reminded me, Louise was also overweight. So was that Barbara McNair character. Not that weight matters, especially in this argument, but it shows that George fell in love with Louise for who she was and would be as a wife, not how long her looks would last or her figure. I found Louise, in the later seasons to be one hot lady!

Ireneparalegal

You think the producers PURPOSELY did that? I think when they casted an actress, they merely chose the best one for the part, I hardly think they said, "Let's choose someone who is prettier"...that is your thinking Solomon. In YOUR EYES, she is prettier. This episode has nothing to do with looks, it was the kind of woman she was when George dated her. He remembered how much fun she was and obviously remembered the good times with her, partying and so forth. You are the only one who referenced her looks.

The producers cast a well known actress to appear in the episode to play a former flame of George's, that's all.

In Mother Jefferson's eyes...NO ONE WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR GEORGE...he was a mama's boy on some levels. She wasn't thinking abt looks... Mother Jefferson showed her "attitude" to Weezy every chance she got. I never had a problem with Louise, I'm just pointing out how Mother Jefferson wanted a smaller woman for her son. Because you state one thing and then another when you put your foot in your mouth. First you state your opinions, then you state it's the producers, then you state it was Mother Jefferson, you can't keep your comments straight. Bottom line, you are inferring that George could have had a better looking woman (other than Louise) because you mentioned the Barbara McNair character and LOOKS IS WHAT YOU ARE MORE CONCERNED WITH when it comes to women.

I see you missed one of my posts. SHE FELT NO WOMAN WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR GEORGE. If she had it her way, she would have chosen a woman for him, that is, if she could find one GOOD ENOUGH. It wasn't a personal thing, it was called being a MAMA'S BOY. I know abt that. My ex-husband's mother was exactly like her. She had seven sons and hated ALL OF US!!!! My ex-father in law told me it's not personal, she just doesn't think there are any good women good enough for her boys.
