View Full Version : Even Though I liked the Carl Character, I think he was a LITTLE out of Line in the ep
TVFactFan 08-10-2006, 11:56 AM "My Son, the Father". The argument was between Florida and J.J and I really didn;t see the need for him to step in and say-"Hold it there soldier that's your mother you are talking to" I wish a guy would have came in my mom life's and started telling me how to speak and only was in her life for 15 min. I would have been like-"Do you want to take this outside?-lol That was the only problem i had with Carl, other than that, he was a lot of FUN to watch
MikeLutton 08-10-2006, 12:28 PM i didnt like that episode either i talked it about the other day in my post i didnt like carl charactor at all and i do agree he was way out of line and i dont believe Florida didnt even try go searching for J J after he left and Michael left 2 not sure where thelma went but she schould been more worried about her son then spending time with carl
Wawwie 08-10-2006, 01:12 PM All of the characters talked to J.J. like he was crap and J.J. was nothing but sweet. Florida, James, Michael, Thelma, Wilona, and Carl. I think the only one that spoke nicely to J.J. was Penny.
Oh yeah, Thelma's husband Keith also had a lot of nerve when he blamed J.J. for his injury.
I love J.J.
MikeLutton 08-10-2006, 01:26 PM i didnt see keith in that 1 al though i only saw half the episode so not sure
Brian Damage 08-10-2006, 02:25 PM I despised when Carl talked military talk.

HATED CARL
he was rude and pompous
ugly and gangly (the black LURCH!)
an atheist which florida would NEVER have been ok with
and she started to date him only a few months after James died
EVEN ESTHER ROLLE HATED THE CARL CHARACTER
i did a poll last month, and i think 90+% of the people hate carl too!

LOL. Yeah, you're right. But I felt bad for J.J. because I liked him so much and I liked the way he really grew up and stepped up to take care of his family when James died. J.J. had a lot of talent, too. Whoever did those paintings for Jimmie Walker was/is AWESOME.

Everyone that J.J came in contact with he was always a GOOFBALL

Yep, J.J. was definitely goofy, but I found him so loveable. I see you've got Lionel Jefferson in your avatar. Now Lionel is a hundred times more intelligent than J.J., but I just adore J.J. so much more.
About Carl: I didn't like the way he acted at that restaurant when it was his and Florida's first date. Plus, he was originally going to take her to "The Burger Pit" until the kids told him to take her someplace nice.

JJ was funny. Most of the time that he opened his mouth, I knew I was going to laugh. I liked Lionel but I think he was more funny on AITF. His scenes with Archie were classic.

Well He was getting awful service at the restarunt-lol I was laughing when a couple got their food before Florida and Carl and Carl said-"Now i know we were here before them, those people were in the shower when we ordered our food"-lol

That is true, but Jeez....did he make a scene and he embarassed Florida. I guess she was a tad uptight in that episode.

I guess Carl got home and realized that he really had feelings for Florida. But we both know in real life that a female would never forgive a guy for doing what Carl did-lol

I thought it was cool when they made up with Florida getting Carl all wet at the kitchen sink.

Yeah I can still remember the person in the audience when Florida had the Pot of water about to Pour-"NO SHE NOT"
mstewart 08-12-2006, 11:51 AM That whole relationship with Carl and Florida rubbed me the wrong way. The writers destroyed the show by killing James off and in the same season Florida gets into a serious relationship and get engaged at the end of that same season. I liked the character Ben that Florida met at the bar. I can see them developing a friendship and later down the road, the following season, romance starts blooming. They were much more compatible than her and Carl. Carl was trying to deal with people as though they were in the military.

It wasn't too soon for her to meet someone but to Get married oh Hell YES

That's right. A lot of times in Good Times, you could hear the audience clearly, especially with dramatic scenes involving Penny like when her mother was abusing her or when she stole the necklace from the store at Christmas.
