There has been some debate between Irene and I during the last couple of months over the rock band Chicago. The debate has been over which of their songs are good and which are not. Chicago seems to be a band that cuases a great deal of debate. Much of it having to do with the fact that their sound was much different in the 1980's than it had been during the 1970's. And fans seem to pefer one era of the band over the other. So let's see what the popular opnion is. :)

My top 10 favorite Chicago songs:

Basically any music done by Chicago after "No Tell Lover" is nothing I would care to listen to. Chicago from the early 70's and late 70's is when they are at their best.
The brass section and that jazzy sound is something they lost with their 80's ballads aka "hallmark card cheesy poem" stuff.

Chicago is my all time favorite band. No other band touches them as far as I'm concerned!!

Oh yeah, I even bought their 30th anniversary cd when I was 15, back in 1997. Peter Cetera and the rest of the Chicago gang, were pretty much the soundtrack of my life growing up. Love those guys!!!

I like "Chasing the Wind," "You're the Inspiration" "Hard Habit to Break" and
"What Kind of Man Would I Be?" (in that order).

All of the ones mentioned. I also like 'Old Days'. Chicago doesn't have a bad song, in my opinion.

Chicago of the 80's is definitely my favorite, but i do also love some of their 70s material. I just happen to love cheesy love songs, and i pretty much love every song that came out in the 80s. Ironically my mom used to have Chicago posters on her walls. So Chicago is timeless.

Also Question Mark and The Mysterians(96 Tears) played there.
I mean this was very SMALL TOWN stuff!:lol:

I think the majority of people who grew up on Chicago in the early 70's will tend to like their music from that era...and those who grew up listening to Chicago from the 80's will of course go for that style of music. It's not a definite thing, but it's more likely than not, that is the case.

I like several songs thru the 70s. I think I have all but 3 records from the 70s.

Chicago 3,7 and 12 I didnt care for.... And I just got a good copy of Chicago 16 (1982) most of them sound like flattend out thin garbage and none of the 70s ones do!

I thought David Foster did that but apparently its how its mastered as this copy is goregous........ (It was in the dollar bin (I dont know why,nothing wrong it except the sound is more 70s and not 80s trash))
