last night? Not a Good Sign. First it's moved to Friday from Monday and now it's not on AT ALL

I'm hoping it was an accidental screw-up (I mean, who'd show "Top Gun" twice in a 4 hr span purposely??). But I'm doubtful of that because with TV when these things happen they are almost never accidents.

I'm not either but I am going to tape the episodes I don't have. I can't even do that if they're not airing it at all, so I have to disagree with you there.

An encore? That's amazing to me. Most people, judging by the message boards there, aren't even watching the first airing, let alone an encore. :rolleyes:

When I sat down to watch Benson yesterday, they showed an encore of Top Gun.

Looks like TV land's not a very professionally run outfit to me.They don't even tell DIRECTV and Tivo when they change some thing,they just don't care. My Tivo guide does show Benson to be back on next Friday night. That's if TV land doesn't do any thing stupid at the last moment.

The Benson Matathon will be on TWICE in August. Two Fridays, August 4th, and August 18th

Reminds me of MTV. Totally getting far away from the purpose of the channel in the first place. Keep venturing into all these areas and totally forget your identity and purpose in the first place!

I think Benson has been treated like the red-headed stepchild of TV Land. I'm gathering from the way you phrased this that what has happened is not entirely due to poor ratings on the part of Benson, necessarily, but maybe just a desperate attempt to put in a show they knew would deliver ratings immediately (Three's Company). Is that a fair assessment?

Personally, it doesn't matter to me whether it's TV Land airing it or some other station, as long as I get to see it. :D

Well, the ratings were for sure part of why it was dropped from 11:30pm and moved to Friday late nights. But now ratings I'm sure have nothing to do with Benson being pre-empted crazily. Hopefully it gets better in September when minis are gone and the movies are gone.

Goofy start times are only around 10pm-6am.

ok - TVLand is OFFICIALLY the most annoying station to record episodes off of...

I printed out the entire episode list and figured out that after tonight's eps, I will need only 51 to have all the episodes (there are 158 total). This is pretty good, considering before TV Land aired the marathon, I had only 16.

So, as annoying as TV Land can be, I can't rip them too much considering they are the only station to air Benson since the Screen Gems Network (2001). And before SGN, who knows? :confused:

I'd love for them to show it around the same time they used to when I was a kid in the mid 80s: 5:30pm or 6pm CST. That way I can be home from work in time to catch it. :)

I've heard about ME-TV, but the last time I checked, I didn't get Channel 23 (and I have Comcast, so I don't know if that's a problem or not). I'll have to check again...maybe it's on a different channel for me, or is Channel 23 a universal thing in the entire Chicago area?

starting Monday, September 4, 2006 Benson will be airing on WUPL My 54 weekday's at 12:30 pm.

The last time I saw Benson outside TV Land was on local station in New Mexico during the early '90s (I remember as a kid having trouble pronouncing Robert Guillames's last name I used to call it Guil-lame at first...:lol:! ) and also on BET and WGN as well.

And agmfox8, you are one lucky son of a gun to have Benson locally!!! ;)

I'm confused...I don't see the 18th listings on the TV Land site yet (where did you see them?), and besides that, the 18th is a Monday. They don't show Benson on Mondays.....did you mean the 19th?

megamanj2004: Are you talking about ME-TV? TV Land is not making any changes (at least as of now, you never know with them) on Sept. 18. Benson will continue to air Tuesdays 12-2pm and Fridays 12-4am ET/PT on TV Land.

It's a shame but I think this show was very damaged by its disappearance off the airwaves for what seemed like forever in the late 80s/early 90s. As I recall BET obtained the rights to it and then just shelved it. While shows like Cosby, Jeffersons, etc continued to air, this show just seemed to fall off the face of the Earth. The whole TV-watching audience got a chance to get to know shows that were aired somewhat regularly; if you think about it, you realize that whole new generations became fans of Leave It To Beaver, Andy Griffith, The Honeymooners, etc because they had a chance to get to know those shows and the characters. If they weren't aired, they couldn't remain so popular. What came first, the chicken or the egg?

This is why I worry we may never see Benson on DVD. I though we had a good chance with TV Land, but that station just swept it under the carpet way too soon. I can't recall another show (with the exception of maybe 227) that got worse treatment.

Benson has now been added to WSBT in South Bend, IN, airing weekday mornings after What's Happening!! So, two locals now. A very slow buy for this show.

This is awsome News that WSBT CBS 22 has added Benson to there weekday morning Schedule but what time Slot has WSBT CBS 22 gived Benson.
