What TV shows have you questioning whether a complete run actually exists. I've read about My Living Doll and how only 6 (some say 9) episodes exist. What about a show like Turnabout; is it possible that it has been lost forever?

I would bet Turnabout exists, based on the time it was done ('70s) and the fact that it was a filmed sitcom. I remember watching it when it aired - I was one among a very few, which is why it got cancelled - it got terrible ratings. I think it's been more lack of public interest than anything else that's kept that show off the radar.

I have started two threads on this topic in the past (read them here (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=167602) and here (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=114015)). I am still slowly working on a "master" list of television shows with episodes missing and presumed lost. I can tell you, however, that at least nine episodes of My Living Doll and one episode of Turnabout exist. I used to think that only one episode of The New People was still around but thankfully the entire series is archived at UCLA's Film & Television collection. And every episode of Coronet Blue exists at the Library of Congress (including the two unaired episodes).

Complete runs of Coronet Blue are also in the hands of collectors and it is just beginning to make the rounds.

I have a complete run of Coronet Blue, assembled from different sources, but it's not in a condition to trade yet (some episodes are on tape).

I've run searches at the UCLA Film Library web site, and the search only returns 1 episode of New People.

Funny, my search results returned the entire series.

Someday when I win the lottery I'm going to go down to UCLA and bribe an archivist to record all the lost treasures I've been wanting for years.

Hmm, maybe I'm mixing it up with That's Life, another show I'd love to track down that I haven't seen on anyone's list.

UCLA does have the full run of Hot L Baltimore, which I was greatly relieved to see. I'd hate to think of that series having been wiped. I wonder if it really is as good as i remember it being, though.

I would really like to know if episodes exist of the following shows I have been trying to find:

SHIRLEY (Oct 26,1979-Jan.25,1980) NBC -with Shirley Jones Peter Barton, Patrick Wayne, Rosanna Arquette, Tracey Gold
I have been trying now since 1984 to find episodes of this series and none seem to exist...someone must have recorded it from original airings (you would think)..the closest I have come is a Christmas compilation movie , but the quality is not great at all. Has this ever been syndicated? Where are all the episodes?

THE PRUITTS OF SOUTHAMPTON (1967) Phyliss Diller
Another tough show to find..even a complete episode guide has been difficult although I understand an old back issue of TV COLLECTOR featured a detailed episode guide (would love to get a copy of this). To the best of my knowledge no more than 4 or 5 episodes of this series seem to exist.

PAUL LYNDE SHOW (1972-73)
everyone seems to be looking for these same 3 episodes :
02 Whiz Kid Sizzles As Quiz Fizzles - aired Sept 20, 1972
03 No Nudes is Good Nudes - aired October 11, 1972
23 Barbara Goes Home to Mother - aired Feb 28, 1973
Do they exist?

Does anyone have any info on these three shows?

Thanks.

It would be great if Hot L Baltimore was released some day. I only have small memories of it even though I watched it every week.

In regards to THAT'S LIFE, I don't know if it's the same show you're referring to, but a series by that title has been airing recently on HDNet. You might want to check their website, just to make sure it's not the one you're after.

Well, I wrote a request e-mail to S'More Entertainment, which is working with the UCLA Archive on some projects (like Mr. Peepers) asking them to consider releasing both Coronet Blue and Hot L Baltimore. It would be great if they could put together a set with commentary by Norman Lear and James Cromwell while we still have them!

GF - I've seen episodes of Professional Father listed on various people's lists.

Fandor - Thanks for the head's up - alas, that is a series from the 1990s - I'm looking for a musical comedy series from the late '60s - I think it might have been broadcast live. Or videotape - definitely not film.

I wonder if "A New Kind of Family" from 1979 is out there anywhere along with some of the other 1979 TV Shows

Working Stiffs
California Fever

Working Stiffs most certainly exists I remember when it was available to be checked out at Hollywood and Blockbuster Video during the very late 80's.
It was released on both beta and vhs I think 4 episodes.

As for New Kind of Family that is with Rob Lowe right? ABC contacted me a few years back for episodes because they did not have any, I have ABC promos somewhere but it took me too long to find them and they needed to show the footage ASAP for a Primetime Live special with Rob Lowe because he had a career revival at the time with West Wing. It's one of those cases where I wish I could have pulled thru for them (ABC).

I've seen at least one episode of California Fever on lists, didnt an episode air on TV Land once when they aired quirky shows from time to time.

I have probably every CBS promo for the series and might even have a partial episode but that is it.

Well How can you be taken seriously if you say you have something after just admitting that you couldn't find what ABC needed? So all your-"I think I have 3 or 4 eps of This posts can be looked at as a joke right since you don't know where none of these shows are?????-lol

Wow. I have in the neighborhood of 6,000 videotapes in my collection, and in some cases, the spine labels are so old (28 years in some cases) the ink has faded to nothing. Even with my database, it can take me days to find a single episode of a single show recorded in the early '80s because I simply do not have the space to stack tapes one row to a shelf - I have 2 and 3 rows, stuff piled on top, etc., to maximize space. Which is why I refuse to do any custom converting from my collection any longer. It's not at all uncommon in old collections to know you have something, but not be able to put your hands on it immediately.

Nice try, but I'm drug free.

I still find it amusing when the one lunatic claims that everyone else is crazy. Some comedy never dies.

Solomon,

I've had both ABC and VHI contact me on a Friday and say "hey we need the Rob Lowe or Solid Gold episodes by Monday at the latest". Now this isnt the
4th or 5th time they have contacted me it's the very FIRST time that they request this, I told ABC sorry I cannot find a specific ABC promo in that short period of time and then Fed Ex the clip to you. However, I ended up helping VHI because my friend lives in NYC and he hand delivered copies of the show to a person in production so that all worked out fine.

In hindsight I SHOULD have looked at ANYTHING ABC I had from the short time period Lowe's show was on the air in 1979 and that would have enhanced my chances in finding the show. But I panicked because at the time I thought no way could I find this show in that short period of time.

Live and Learn....this was a few years ago. I'd like to think I wouldnt make the same mistake again but who knows!

Well that's definitely disappointing! Thanks though. However, I have actually managed to locate about half a dozen people who have in fact taped every episode of The Wonder Years off of ABC when they originally aired; unfortunately though, none of them are tape-traders, so it looks like their priceless collections will stay with them and them alone.

Hello again! Does anyone happen to know how to get in contact with a former user here whose user name was Samsgirl xo? She apparently had the full series of The Wonder Years from its original ABC airings, but she has been inactive and I can't seem to get into contact with her. Check out this link:

Most of the posts in this thread are moronic. The only shows that have the possibility of not existing are those done on videotape. Filmed shows, only if they were done by independents are also possible, such as The Barbara Stanwyck show, where William Morris threw out the 35mm prints and negatives. But anything owned by a major studio is safely tucked away in the vaults. Wonder Years doesn't exist? One of the most idiotic things I've ever read. Yeah, Fox went back to the 35mm negatives are threw them in the dumpster. Morons.

Agreed - people need to see the difference between what exists and what exists in the hands of collectors.

Sure there are the odd independent shows who have episodes missing - such as MY LIVING DOLL - they only have 11 out of the 26 - and there's a 12th known to exist in the hands of a well-known film collector who won't part with it. - But everything from the majors all exists safe and sound in their vaults.

This includes UNIVERSAL who didn't lose masters - just working prints - from that fire a few years ago.
