are you using Internet Explorer? Windows XP?

download CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and run it to clear out your cache and all of your temp files (make sure you have ALL windows closed, including IE when you run it)

update your Java installation, by downloading the Windows (Online Installation) (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)

I have Windows XP America Online 9.0. I don't think that I have IE. I've looked and I don't see it listed under programs or add/remove softeware. I went under Control Panel and then under general. I then cleared my temporary internet files. I also enabled "empty temporary internet files after browser is closed". I was hoping that by clearing the cookies and files that my problems with accessing pm's and replying to them would be gone, but I'm still having the same problems. Will CCleaner work if I don't have IE?
It should. I think it does in Firefox.

yes it will work without Internet Explorer, although if you have XP i can pretty much guarantee that you have Internet Explorer

did you try to update your Java? you may want to uninstall any older versions in the Control Panel, then download the Online Installation (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp).

you need to try accessing your PMs in Internet explorer or firefox just to see if this is a browser-specific problem - to open IE, click on the Run command on the Start Menu then type in iexplore and click on OK
