Brent88 06-28-2006, 01:34 PM HA HA HA...LMAO!!!!!!! i wonder how long before she finds out the real truth abt her marriage too... they are showing the View right now and Barbara stated that the network was not going to renew her contract for this fall for MANY reasons...Star was well aware of what was going on. True, but they were going to give her a sendoff later this week. Instead, she decided to just announce it during the middle of the show(they weren't even discussing it when she just brings it up out of the blue). I never liked her anyway, but I think this show is SO over. Rosie is replacing Meredith. :barf: TVFactFan 06-28-2006, 01:42 PM I hope they fired her because she is NOT EASY ON THE EYES. She needs to be behind the scenes 80sTrivia 06-28-2006, 02:39 PM I'm not surprised, as I knew there was no way she was going to stay on the show with Rosie O'Donnell joining the panel in the Fall!!! Brian Damage 06-28-2006, 02:57 PM Does anybody have this on tape? I need to see this soap opera. lol Rene 06-28-2006, 02:57 PM i cant wait to see rosie make elizabeth cry, i cant stand her Pavan 06-28-2006, 03:41 PM Statement from ABC: Yesterday on “The View” Star Jones unexpectedly announced that she would be leaving the show. Please see below the transcript from today’s show with Barbara Walters response to yesterday’s announcement: BARBARA WALTERS: THIS IS, TRUTHFULLY, A VERY DIFFICULT DAY FOR US, AND IT IS A SAD DAY FOR US. IF YOU WERE WATCHING THE PROGRAM YESTERDAY, YOU WOULD HAVE HEARD STAR ANNOUNCE THAT SHE'S LEAVING "THE VIEW" AND WILL NOT BE ON THE PROGRAM NEXT FALL. WE DIDN'T EXPECT HER TO MAKE THIS STATEMENT YESTERDAY. SHE GAVE US NO WARNING. AND WE WERE TAKEN BY SURPRISE. BUT THE TRUTH IS THAT STAR HAS KNOWN FOR MONTHS THAT ABC DID NOT WANT TO RENEW HER CONTRACT AND THAT SHE WOULD NOT BE ASKED BACK IN THE FALL. THE NETWORK MADE THIS DECISION BASED ON A VARIETY OF REASONS WHICH I WON'T GO INTO NOW. BUT WE WERE NEVER GOING TO SAY THIS. WE WANTED TO PROTECT STAR. AND SO WE TOLD HER THAT SHE COULD SAY WHATEVER SHE WANTED ABOUT WHY SHE WAS LEAVING AND THAT WE WOULD BACK HER UP. WE WORKED CLOSELY WITH HER REPRESENTATIVES AND WE GAVE HER TIME TO LOOK FOR ANOTHER JOB AND WE HOPED THEN SHE WOULD ANNOUNCE IT HERE ON THE PROGRAM AND LEAVE WITH DIGNITY. BUT STAR MADE ANOTHER CHOICE. AND SINCE HER ANNOUNCEMENT YESTERDAY, SHE HAS MADE FURTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS THAT HAVE SURPRISED US. SO IT IS BECOMING UNCOMFORTABLE FOR US TO PRETEND THAT EVERYTHING IS THE SAME AT THIS TABLE. AND, THEREFORE, REGRETTABLY STAR WILL NO LONGER BE ON THIS PROGRAM, EXCEPT FOR SOME SHOWS THAT HAVE BEEN PRERECORDED. "THE VIEW" HELPED MAKE STAR A STAR AND STAR HELPED MAKE "THE VIEW" THE SUCCESS THAT IT IS. WE WILL NEVER FORGET THAT. WE WISH HER WELL IN THIS NEW CHAPTER OF HER LIFE AS WE BEGIN A NEW CHAPTER ON "THE VIEW." AND WHEN WE COME BACK, WE WILL DO WHAT WE DO BEST, OR WORST, HOT TOPICS. Pavan 06-28-2006, 03:45 PM Great stuff...this is like better than any daytime soap, lol! Brent88 06-28-2006, 03:50 PM Great stuff...this is like better than any daytime soap, lol! LOL! I was thinking the same thing. :p ABC has a poll up for a possible replacement, no one is winning overwhelmingly but ANN COULTER(ANN COULTER?!) is in the lead among actual replacements. :barf: and Paris Hilton? :barf: :barf: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/ Pavan 06-28-2006, 03:52 PM I bet Patricia Heaton, if her proposed talk show doesn't make it. Pavan 06-28-2006, 03:55 PM It would have been interesting to see Rosie and Star together. They hate each other. Rosie is better I think, though. Ireneparalegal 06-28-2006, 03:58 PM Does anybody have this on tape? I need to see this soap opera. lol I wish I had seen yesterday's episode, but I very very rarely ever watch daytime t.v. I only tuned in this morning to see what ELSE was gonna happen. It was only Babs talking to the camera...She was very serious. When she stopped speaking the camera did a pan of the three at the table and went to a commercial, with the audience applauding (on cue of course)...but it kinda was weird seeing the show start out this way. Pavan 06-28-2006, 04:05 PM This news is spoiling the excellent send-off GMA/ABC did to Charles Gibson this morning. Scoobiedoo30 06-28-2006, 05:00 PM I was shocked when my Mom friend told me The News that Star Jones was Leaving The View Brent88 06-28-2006, 05:10 PM This news is spoiling the excellent send-off GMA/ABC did to Charles Gibson this morning. Brent88 06-28-2006, 05:28 PM They said something on Extra and they may say something on Inside Edition Access Hollywood Entertainment Tonight and The Insider I saw an ad for Entertainment Tonight and the story got the most mention. I'd be shocked if Inside Edition, Access Hollywood, and The Insider did NOT cover it. It's a huge story. Brent88 06-28-2006, 05:29 PM I see nothing but doom for The View. LOL, yeah I do too. I do think they will see a spike this week in viewership due to all the attention though. People love scandalous stuff... Pav, do you have any ratings info on how it does vs. TPIR? Pavan 06-28-2006, 05:36 PM The View does decent in the ratings. I think it beats TPIR...I know for a fact it beats it by a lot here in NY. James"Thunder"Early 06-28-2006, 05:37 PM The situation is a mess, Star just up and said she was leaving. She called Ryan Seacrest on his radio show and she claimed Barbara and the producer asked her to stay on until the July 13 because they didn't want to leave the show without a fourth anchor, but she was notified later she wouldn't be back at all. So both sides are telling different stories about this. Ireneparalegal 06-28-2006, 05:41 PM anyone have a link to the video of YESTERDAYS show? Will Do Ireneparalegal 06-29-2006, 01:47 PM She was on Ryan Seacrest's radio show yesterday on KIIS FM in the early morning. She told listeners she would no longer be on the view as of "today" (yesterday) Ryan was shocked. here is the story from ET Online as was shown yesterday on their show: Star's 'View' Days: Over! June 28, 2006 STAR JONES REYNOLDS made it official on "The View" Tuesday, telling the audience that she wouldn't be returning for a tenth season. This morning, Star told RYAN SEACREST in a radio interview on KIIS-FM that following her announcement yesterday, she was asked by the ABC network not to return to the show today (she was scheduled to stay on until July 13). Star revealed that she just wanted to be honest with viewers about the fact that her contract was not renewed for a tenth season: "I simply told what happened," which included her telling People magazine that she felt like she'd been fired. In response to Star's comments, BARBARA WALTERS told The Associated Press that she felt betrayed by Star's words and her surprise announcement on yesterday's broadcast: "I love Star and I was trying to do everything I possibly could ... up until this morning when I was betrayed ... to protect her," she revealed Tuesday. This morning on "The View," Walters, sitting with JOY BEHAR and ELISABETH HASSELBECK, addressed the situation, opening the show with, "And then there were three." Walters explained that it was a "difficult" day for all of them, and that following Star's surprise announcement yesterday, she wouldn't be back. Walters went on to explain that Star knew for months that her contract wouldn't be renewed for a "variety of reasons," and that they wanted to give her the chance to exit the show gracefully. Star released the following statement to ET Tuesday, saying, "I've spent an amazing nine years as a part of 'The View' family, and they have been the most professionally and personally rewarding years of my life. Through it all, I have appreciated the support of my family, my friends and most importantly the viewers, and I am incredibly grateful for all of the love that has been shown to me. 'The View' is now moving in a new direction, and I will not be returning this fall -- but, wherever I go, I will carry a lifetime of memories with me. Thank you all so much for your invaluable love and support." ET broke the news several weeks ago that Star was reportedly shopping around a new talk show, shortly after the news broke that ROSIE O'DONNELL would be joining "The View" this fall. MEREDITH VIEIRA has left "The View" and will take KATIE COURIC's place as co-host of "Today" starting in September. Brent88 06-29-2006, 02:12 PM See Star Jones tonight on CNN's Larry King Live. She makes it sound like it was suddenly the night before. She was going to get a GOODBYE show on Thursday...so why not wait til that day to say her "peace"? Me either, I don't know why 2 days would make a difference. I think ABC is just mad because she went out on her and said what she had to say. It's not like she bad mouthed the company or her co-host. I don't see anything wrong with what she said or how she said it. Ireneparalegal 06-29-2006, 09:37 PM Me either, I don't know why 2 days would make a difference. I don't see anything wrong with what she said or how she said it. Tell that to Star. What difference did two days make. Because she and ABC had made a deal to do it on Thursday. That was how it was going to be done. Along with other issues. As a lawyer, she should know you don't go break a deal or contract...and if you do, you suffer the consequences. And she did. She was not to talk to ANYONE regarding her leaving until Thursday. She already had done an interview with PEOPLE and didn't tell anyone abt it. She already had broken the deal by doing the interview. Star is mad because she was let go by ABC that day. Brieannas21 06-29-2006, 09:47 PM Tell that to Star. What difference did two days make. I don't think she broke any deal, they didn't say that she couldn't talk to the press. They said that she could go out anyway she felt was fit, they fact that they told her that she could lie about why she was leaving, that's showing what kind of company it is. They tried to hide behind the true to make them look good. I just heard what she said about the whole Rosie thing, and that was just a slap in the face to her. You don't tell a person that they're fired and then hire her enemy all in the same week. As she's my soror sister I won't put her down about her weight and how she lost it. She was at an unhealthy size, I think she did the right thing in getting gastric bypass surgery. And I don't think that it's anyone's business how she lost her weight as long as she lost it. That's being a hypocrite...she could lie abt her weight loss to a national audience on an ABC SHOW, but she couldn't say whatever she wanted to say on Thursday??? ABC didn't tell her to lie, they told her SHE COULD TELL THE WORLD WHATEVER SHE WANTED and they would BACK HER STORY UP, WHATEVER THAT STORY MAY BE. There is no lying other than her. She and ABC made a deal that she was NOT TO SPEAK TO ANYONE or any ENTITY until after Thursday. ABC was held to the same. They never told her to LIE. They never told her DON'T EVER TALK TO ANYONE OR ANY ENTITY. She's a lawyer...she broke a deal... Pavan 06-30-2006, 04:05 PM Please see below a statement released today from ABC Daytime President, Brian Frons, regarding the departure of Star Jones from “The View:” "This has been one of many changes that have been made over the show's years with our hosts. The decision to end our working relationship with Star was a difficult one and made with great thought. The network and the show's producers attempted to be compassionate towards Star in the timing and handling of this announcement. It is never our practice to initiate public discussions about private business matters but given what happened on air Tuesday and in learning of the PEOPLE magazine interview, we felt we had to. It has been a difficult week for everyone but we don't want any of that to take away from the fact that we greatly value Star's contributions to the show over many years. She is a talented, professional woman and we wish her the best going forward." L&OFan4Eva 06-30-2006, 04:26 PM I was stunned to see CNN repeating the Star interview this morning. Ireneparalegal 07-03-2006, 12:24 PM I may be naive, but what is the "truth" about her husband? he's alleged to be gay, many gay men say he has visited their "clubs" and dated guys...there was an interview with a club member who states that he is a regular at one of those places, and he only married Star so people wouldn't think he was gay. He also went to a gay halloween party dressed as: a male stripper.
