View Full Version : Does it make sense for McDonald's to sell HEALTHY FOOD?
TVFactFan 06-25-2006, 06:31 PM I just never understood the point of a FAST FOOD place having SALADS in addition to the Greasy Food they are known for. Wouldn't it make more sense to go to SALAD WORKS if you were in a mood for a salad?-lol I want to know who says-"You know I want to start eating healthy so let me go to McDonald's and get a SALAD"-lol
James"Thunder"Early 06-25-2006, 06:33 PM It makes sense for business reasons, they want to attract more customers. Some people want fast food, but don't go to McDonalds because it's too unhealthy. This way they can draw the health concience in.

But if a person wanted to eat healthy why go into a place where the SMELL of Fast Food when hit you and the SITE of Greasy Fries while standing t the counter?-lol
Brian Damage 06-25-2006, 06:45 PM It does make sense to try and corner every possible market there is. I know a few people who go to places like McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's for salads.
TVFactFan 06-25-2006, 06:56 PM It does make sense to try and corner every possible market there is. I know a few people who go to places like McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's for salads.
But why do they go to those places??-lol Recently I decided to stay away from fried foods so it would be silly for me to go in McDonalds and get a salad and know It's a 85% chance I will get the craving for some fries
Mr. Television 06-25-2006, 07:00 PM I actually went in there a few times just to have their salads when I was on a diet. They're pretty good but I don't think they make much money off it. I was the only one in there eating it.
Brieannas21 06-25-2006, 07:11 PM Yes it makes sense, Not everyone eats burgers and fries. And since it's a fast food business they are trying to accommodate every one and they're trying to make as much money as possible.
Rachel3118 06-25-2006, 07:20 PM It is ironic that they sell healthy things even though most everything they have is unhealthy. I guess it works if there is a group of people together where some of them want healthy foods and some of them want unhealthy foods. It is also good because it is hard to find healthy fast food places.
Dutabi84 06-25-2006, 09:51 PM Not everybody that wants food fast wants something that will clog their arteries, and there aren't many healthy places to get food fast.
gilligan fanatic 06-25-2006, 09:54 PM I work at a Grocery Store and noticed nobody buys low fat or reduced fat or no fat anything. All the natural and organic stuff doesn't sell much either. Maybe when they see McDonalds selling there favorite foods in a healthier format they may buy there groceries like that.
vienna waits 06-25-2006, 11:21 PM because believe it or not some people operate in different ways than you do! and there is no such thing as salad works here.

OK Well a store that sells only HEALTHY FOOD-lol
Ireneparalegal 06-25-2006, 11:26 PM Didn't McDonalds get kinda "pushed" to have to sell healthy items because of all the lawsuits? This way their defense can be, well, we offer healthy items in addition to fast food...

I say why change something that has been working for years?-lol

I know I don't buy a lot of that low fat stuff. It doesn't taste good.

For the life of me, I still don't see how anybody in their right mind can buy that argument from these people.
Nobody shoved those Big Macs down their throat, and nobody tricked them by saying "Hey, McDonald's is HEALTHY, so eat all you want!!"
Yet, they still managed to find a way to blame McDonald's for making THEM fat, and people bought it.
Ireneparalegal 06-26-2006, 12:04 AM Yes, I think it's a good idea for fast food places to have these options...my daughter is diabetic and she can have those options when she visits a fast food place with her friends.
Janice Johnson 06-27-2006, 08:57 AM Burger King really went above the call of duty........ They have VEGGIE Burgers! :) I ate one, and surprisingly, it tasted good and didn't really taste any different from a beef or a chicken burger(of course I had mayo on it):)
TVFactFan 06-27-2006, 09:59 AM I hope Taco Bell never turns to healthy food, if they haven't already-lol
crystals 06-27-2006, 10:45 AM Some of their salads are just as unhealthy as other things on the menu.
Yeah, I forget what is in there exactly, but I think a person is much better off making their own fresh salad at home.
Did anyone ever see the film "Super Size Me"? It was about this guy who ate food from McDonald's for about 30 days. Three doctors monitored his health as he was on his experiment. Needless to say, all the doctors agreed it was really bad for your health. I forget which one, but I think one doctor found out it was worse than he thought.
I think the only safe fast food is Subway. At least in that place, you're actually getting nutrients.

if anyone ate any fast food or unhealthy food for 30 days straight, three times a day, they would be SICK! regardless if it's McDonalds or anything other fast food place. I seen the documentary but it's surreal. It's an idiot eating nothing but junk food...that would make anyone sick regardless.
we are not talking abt replace healthy eating with fast food stuff...merely is adding healthier foods to a fast food menu make sense? I think it does. Especially nowadays.
MsOrange 06-28-2006, 07:40 AM I <3 the apple dippers @ McDonalds.
