{Scene opens in the writers' office. Rob, Buddy and Sally are mulling over
how to proceed with their latest "Alan Brady" script...}

SALLY: Hey, fellas! What this sketch needs is a funny entrance for Alan.
BUDDY: Funny entrance?
SALLY: Yeah...
BUDDY: How 'bout a door with a sign on it that says, "HA-HA"?

{Sally and Rob shake their heads, and try to think harder...}

SALLY: Hey, how about- how about, Alan comes into the saloon with his guns blazing?
ROB: What's funny about that?
SALLY: They're still in the holster!

{Again, a shaking of heads as each of them tries to think HARDER...}

SALLY: No, no..
BUDDY: I GOT IT! I got the joke!! Are you ready? Alan comes in carrying a 'Colt 45'!
SALLY: A gun?
BUDDY: No, a middle-aged horse!

{All three shake their heads as Mel enters...}
