View Full Version : TVLAND LAST MINUTES CHANGES
judgestone 06-12-2006, 12:57 PM Tvland made change effective today June 12th now Night Court only air at 130pm eastern 1230 central. I wont be able to watch during the day becasue I work during the day the only day I can watch it Friday after 11am.
So Im through with tvland enough is enough becasue they change their mind sooo many times. I hope that Night Court will air another network in the evening time slot & leave it alone in the future. I only have two more epsoide I havent taped yet. Hopefully dvd will release in the future. I will stop by this message board.
Now offiical TBS and Lifetime viewers. No longer tvland viewer anymore I just has enough is enough.
Kevmath 06-12-2006, 01:16 PM Which episodes are you missing?
Kevin...
judgestone 06-12-2006, 01:39 PM The one tvland hasnt aired it becasue of preempt
1) is on 8th season that Christine was upset about her divorce
2) on 9th season About Chrstines was writing children book and Harry learn how to become a professor for law student.
I dont know if tvland will have the ordered this month beasue of tvland changes for 8th & 9th season. I dont know if Tv guide online will have that in ordered I bet they are fed up with tvland too.
I wish TBS would take over N.C. eveing timeslot I hope so in the future.
nitcrt1 06-12-2006, 05:51 PM Geez a loo, it seems that even in syndication "Night Court" doesn't get any respect! I think Oprah needs to reunite this cast. Maybe then the show and cast would be appreciated.
judgestone 06-12-2006, 07:50 PM As long as Oprah is not on tvland network. Night Court is not alone having trouble with tvland they just keep on changing all the time tvland viewers left becasue they just fed up with tvland as they just simply wont leave the schedule alone they keep changing it every other 2 or 3 week so viewers was fed up and left never came back.
I would'nt be surprise if newspaper tv section or tv guide online wont change it they knew tvland change their mind every 2 to 3 weeks they are saying OH GREAT here we go again I bet you they are not going to touch it this time that my predications for tvland going down the tube.
I dont know about their sister station Nick at Nite on how they are doing.
It's going to get even worse....starting July 3rd, NC will be gone from the lineup entirely!
judgestone 06-13-2006, 12:36 PM Oh well that tvland. I will wait til 3 to 4 week they change their mind or wait til in the fall. In the meantime I wont able watch any of tvland that they are airing in July. I cant watch Cheer without Night Court. So anyone going on vacation this summer?
big bertha 06-13-2006, 11:28 PM What is Tvland thinking? They stink. Nightcourt rocks!! And what is with them sneaking in more and more commercials now? I wish Warner Brothers would get on the stick and just release Nightcourt on dvd in season sets. I mean does Tvland really think 227 will be more popular than Nightcourt? I am betting 227 is cheaper. I am just glad I have dvds of my favorite shows now and will no longer be a Tvland viewer. Anybody else upset?
ClassicTVGal 06-13-2006, 11:46 PM It's going to get even worse....starting July 3rd, NC will be gone from the lineup entirely!
No Way! They *just* started the show.. well last Summer! They *can't* take it away now!! I still have a few eps to tape! Mainly due to TVLand skipping them... argh....:(
judgestone 06-14-2006, 12:06 AM According to sitcom message news Night Court just simply going on Hitatus mean they are taking a vacation becasue tvland does not have enough room to put on their lines up in July & possbile in August which they are taking too much spaces like Sanford & Son Good Times all the show they are showing that are on twice or 3 time a day plus marathon at midnight til 4am. N.C has few more years contract left with tvland. N.C will be back soon in 3 to 4 week (tvland has bad habit change their mind alot) or in September.:(

I was gonna say... I thought they had a contract for some years with the show. I forgot about that when I posted last...

They can make room. They can take off some of those godawful repeats such as Bonanza and Gunsmoke (they get a marathon every weekend) and during the week, they load us up on Good Times and Sanford and Son.
nitcrt1 06-14-2006, 12:24 PM Amen to that post GSU2004! I think someone here hit the nail on the head though. I think that it has to be cheaper to air some of the other shows over and over again. "Night Court" has to be a little expensive because it is not as old as some of the other programs. I am sick of seeing the same marathons over and over again. Additionally, can't they give "Night Court" a better time slot. I mean...come on. Do they really want to get rid of it by putting it on in times where virtually no one can see it. Give me a break TV Land.
Pavan 06-14-2006, 01:21 PM Cheaper has nothing to do with it, because they already bought each show they are airing. Ratings is the issue. The westerns do VERY well for them.

Thanks, but to concur with what was said also, the syndication rights have been paid for. They have contracts for these things on how long they get to air them and times they are allowed to air them. I know with the case of the UPN shows hitting syndication this fall, the shows that are still in production cannot be aired during the week, they can only be aired on the weekends.
I do concur with you about seeing the same marathons over and over again, especially Good Times because when TVLand does it, TVOne has one the following weekend. TVLand is going to rerun the What's Happening marathon again in August for the 30th anniversary which is fine to celebrate a milestone but they always air the What's Happening Now episodes in the middle of the night so people can't see them. For each marathon, the same episodes are aired of Whats Happening Now.
Night Court probably would have did better on Nick at Nite as they air more 80's and 90's programming. I think the addition of NewsRadio and Mad About You were mistakes.
Pavan 06-14-2006, 11:22 PM TV Land is not airing the What's Happening marathon anymore in August. It was not going to be the same one anyway. It was going to be a primetime block only, with just WH episodes, but it is not happening anymore.

I wonder what is going on in the programming department at TVLand. They keep changing their minds on everything. I guess its either heads rolling or they are trying to increase ratings.
judgestone 06-15-2006, 12:17 AM TVLAND LINK SAY that that during dinner blocked hour are good but NOT necassary GREAT for 50's & 60's block I guess the rating is slipping during dinner hour. So Im not sure how well is the evening block is doing we will wait and see. Link say it just a tempoary late mid night marathon in July as least and it has something to do with the business stuff or some kind of test they are doing.
Scoobiedoo30 06-15-2006, 11:05 AM I am sorry to here that TV Land Cancel The Rest TV Land Wedding Week
I think "Night Court" would have been more successful at Nick@Nite. It would be good paired up with "NewsRadio."
big bertha 06-15-2006, 11:23 AM When I posted earlier about 227 being cheaper I didn't understand the syndication deals. Now I do-thank you everyone for clearing that up. I still think tvland could be better. Maybe another cable outlet will spring up for people who like something different than tvland. I think they should bring back retromercials too. That was cool. I have some vhs tapes with them on there. What a hoot!!! If you were programming tvland-what would you air?
Do you think tvland is beginning to be too greedy or is that the norm these days? Adding more commercials-shame on them. Tvland needs a makeover and fast. They will start losing viewers. Maybe they won't-I am constantly amazed at what the masses are buying into these days.
hazlenut 06-17-2006, 07:54 PM No!!!! Hiatus on TV Land is the kiss of death. Once it goes on haitus it won't come back. I had a bad feeling this was going to happen.
I agree with TV Land Fan, a Night Court-Newsradio hour line up would rock..especially since it would include my favorite 80 's show and 90's show!
Well, maybe I can't buy Night Court on DVD (yet) but at least I can buy Newsradio. It's just so sad that they finally bring us Night Court and then take it away while shows that suck remain on the air.
Scoobiedoo30 06-17-2006, 08:00 PM I think That Newsradio and Night Court would do great Back to Back

TV Land actually can't take "Night Court" totally off the air. As was said before on this board, TVLand is under contract to air it for I think a couple of more years. So, unless they made a deal with another syndication network, they have to honor the contract. Also, maybe we're looking at this the wrong way. Maybe they're giving "Night Court" the summer off because viewership is down during the summer. Like the networks, maybe it's just using the summer as a launching point for other new programs before deciding what to do with the schedule. When I looked on TVLand's FAQ link, one of the things mentioned was that they can only air certain episodes of a show in a rotation. They can't repeat too many times. This can also be what's happening here. "Night Court" may fall under this category. They may be trying to save certain episodes for a fresh rotation come fall. Maybe too, like NBC, "Night Court" *is* doing well in viewership and they're trying to play with a time when it is most watched. I know I'm probably being too overly optimistic here, but what the heck somebody has to.
Anyway, I e-mailed the TVLand switchboard to see if I can find out what the story is. If I hear anything from them, I'll pass it along.
Scoobiedoo30 06-18-2006, 10:20 AM I Just have to say when I heard that Night Court was going on Hiatus
I was in shock you should have seen my face when I saw the worlds
Night Court is going on Hiatus
SpunkiiMonkii7078 06-19-2006, 05:18 PM I can't believe TVLand is putting Night Court on hiatus. Lately they keep changing their schedules around and taking off all of the good shows. I don't even know what show is on at what time anymore. I really loved to watch Cheers and Night Court when they were back to back around midnight. Now they have those mini-marathons in the morning from 12-4AM or something like that. Seriously. Who will get up in the middle of the night to watch their favorite show for a few hours? I wouldn't. I really liked the schedule they had last summer and I wish they would stop changing it around. The best of luck for Night Court!
Jessica
GSU2004 06-21-2006, 10:31 AM They could at least move it to the weekends only if it was doing that bad in the ratings. Or they could be holding out until The Jeffersons come and place it with them. Who knows?
