I just never understood why people do things like that. In all the jobs I had, i have never brung any of my family members inside or girlfriends. Have you worked with people who done this?

I've done it. My husband would pick me up for lunch, and I'd tell him to come in. The first time was to show him my workplace and to show him off. :D

I've had friends come to my work on occasion, and I've gone to their work. My friend is a floral designer. On Saturdays, she's in the back of the flower shop, making arrangements. If I'm in the area, I stop by and visit her while she works. Her boss doesn't mind. I don't stay long.

I have brought my wife to my job a couple of times. Usually though, it was on New Year's Eve when I was working.

Although I'm in the UK, most of my family is in America (because my mother is American) and we often go over there to visit. My Aunt Sharon, who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina (along with my Aunt Denny, Uncle John, and their four daughters) has, on occasion, taken us down to where she works so we can meet her co-workers. I think we've been down there about three or four times. They've always been very friendly and happy to meet us.

Brian, you're all set and off the hook. Solomon says it's okay.

You can relax now. :D

It all depends what kind of job, business, etc. it is. I have seen it done and I have done it many times. nothing unusual abt it...it would only be unusual if only one person did it and it was against business policy or some security risk, etc.

I've never been to my boyfriend's job, just his work party.

They used to before we moved into our new office. We have to put them on a visitors list now, at the front desk.

Yes, I work at "Zellers" and employees do it all the time. Also, some of them work together. There's a couple (husband & wife) that work together but not in the same area. Then, you have (mother & son) and so forth.

In the past, I've worked somewhere else and it was the same thing.
My boyfriend doesn't agree that people who are dating and/or family members
should work in the same company. I don't have a problem with it unless it
creates a problem for others.

In my office, if your having lunch then it's ok. But if they are just visiting then that's Inappropriate.

Well I guess it all depends on what kind of office you're working in. But in my office, we don't play that

I've brought my little girl to work but I was on vacation and I was just picking up papers.

My boyfriend came to my work once. But it was after 5 and there's no one in the building after 5 on a Friday but me and the illegal alien cleaning crew, so I didn't remotely give a crap.

My dad and I go to my mom's office all the time. It's usually just her, her boss, and another guy who used to bring in his girlfriend all the time.

Wow... so your mom is American? Has she adapted to the UK English? Which English accent do you speak? Or, were you brought up with both? Sorry about all the questions, but languages and dialects always get me interested in learning about how people use them. So I become nosy.

And to answer the question - yes, I have brought over some relatives at my job in the past. It's a community college, so my sister is taking classes as well. My co-workers all know her pretty well, so she is like part of our family. It's kind of a casual setting here in our tech office.

My mother's accent has definitely changed, but she doesn't sound English. It's just that her southern accent isn't so strong any more. I can really tell the difference when we're over in America and I compare the way my grandparents speak with the way my mother speaks.

I have an entirely British accent. I can put on an American accent, but I don't know how good it is. :)

When I use to work at Sears, there was this salesman who only worked weekends, his wife always came up to the job along with their newborn baby. Always. I don't know why she kept doing that, like we all wanted to HER and the baby ALL the time. She came up there so much that she decided to make her way back to the breakroom where all the employees were. Not only that, at times she changed the baby's diaper on the table where people eat! I think the salesman got kind of embarrassed at this, because whenever she came up there, he didn't say much, nor he made much eye contact with the rest of the workers.

Occasionally, people bring family members and relatives to work. I like it, because I get to meet them.
