HA HA!! There is no way the Skipper could have stayed that fat on just fruits and fish!

Maybe they should have asked the Skipper to lose some weight to make the show more realistic!

That's a good point! There's no "real" answer to your question--mainly because even the scripts didn't agree from episode to episode what foods were available to them. One week they'd be killing a boar to throw a party for Mr. Howell--the next week the Skipper would say that he hadn't had any meat to eat since before the shipwreck. Most of the time they were shown catching fish, but often there would be lines about living off of "bananas and coconuts." Also, as far as I know (and Gilligan Fanatic may correct me on this), there is no mention of citrus fruits until "V is for Vitamins" when suddenly there are lemons, grapefruit, oranges, etc.

I suppose the "real" answer is that they got fattening foods from whoever styled Ginger's hair, imported updated clothing, and got them a generator that only works for movie projectors. ;)

like Bonsai said there was a lot of problems with food from episode to episode. And I think you are right about never mentioning citrus fruits before "V For Vitamins" Some people are just naturally big. One of my friends had surgery on there throat and they way about 250lbs. After there surgery they couldn't eat anything unless it was through a straw. He was like that for three weeks. The next couple weeks he still didn't each much at all. 6 Months after his surgery he still weighed the same amount.

But you couldn't actually make a pie without cream, milk, and/or butter plus where is the closed oven??

Plus the Professor told Kinkaid that there is no wild game on the island but how did they get that boar then??? LOL!

You'd think if they just had some seeds they would have been able to plant wheat because with wheat they could have bread, pie crust, flour, pasta, cereal, etc. etc.

Also, if they had seeds for soybeans then they could make soymilk and have milk and cereal!! LOL!!

There should have been an episode where they found a bunch of seeds to explain more food on the island. And I don't mean those radioactive seeds!!
LOL!

they really didn't have an oven everything seemed steamed on the fire. They were able to make a cake in "It's Magic" and fudge in the first episode. They had pancakes in "Goodbye Island too" those also would need all the things you mentioned.

At least for eggs we know they had duck eggs. Which is something that makes me go hmm because Emiliy the duck seemed like a rarity to them but if they have duck eggs for breakfast they must have a lot of ducks there.

The only thing I can think of for milk is coconut milk but I don't know if that could really work.

I've always wondered the same thing. There were some very noticable discrepancies(sp?) in the show at times.

plus during their ENTIRE time on the island, noones clothes ever got worn out, or got holes in them or anything, and the skipper, the proffesor, Mr. Howell and Gilligan were always perfectly clean-shaven!!!

All these things, though, can be explained with just two things:

it's hollywood
it's a sitcom

that can also explain those ridiculous reunion movies of it!

I know for sure there is one scene where the Skipper shaves.

One thing you could say about worn out clothes is about how in Bang Bang Bang Gilligan's clothes are torn apart and ripped. They are in perfect shape at the tag scene at the end of the episode.

The only eggs people eat are non-fertile eggs. But most of Emily's eggs must have been fertile which means there was a baby duck developing in there!!

There is no way you could eat an egg that was already forming a baby duck!
The eggs we eat have not been made fertile by the male bird so they would not result in a baby duck.

Most eggs on the island would be fertile though I believe so you could not eat them.

What makes more sense? The fact that they probably could not have had eggs?

Since wild bird eggs are usually fertile we cannot eat them.

So, how did they get eggs for pie, cake, pancakes, etc.???? LOL!!

My thought on that has always been that even though the show was on for 3 years, that doesnt mean thats how long they were on the island. The way I looked at it was there was roughly 15 episodes a season so to me they were on the island for approximately 45 days'ish, not 1095 days if you go by 3 years. I think that makes sense haha, so for roughly 45 days yes I see no reason he'd still be that big.

Hopefully that does make some sense, if not well certainly not my first time confusing anyone

^^^There were alot more than 15 episodes a season.Back when Gilligans Island was made most shows had at least 30, even 32-35 episodes a season---unlike modern tv.

Even then if its 30 episodes thats still only 90 days. I mean he'd maybe not be as fat of course but he wouldnt be Gilligan size either I dont think. Eh its only a tv show and that was my take thats all.
