He is 3 months old and his name is Rex.
I got him about a month ago.
Does anyone else here have a Boston?
What can you tell me about them?
I am learning how to crate train.
Can anyone give me any helpful hints? :)

I'm so happy for you!!! It's always cool getting a new pet. I have had a Pekinese terrier before, but never a Boston Terrier, so I really can't tell you anything about them. Anyway, if you can, please put up a picture of Rex. I'd love to see him!! :)

My family had a Boston Terrier named Jessie in the late '80s and early '90s. He was a neurotic fellow. If we were gone for a few days he would trash the place. He always had a bad case of separation anxiety. You should take really good care of Rex and give him a lot of attention. If you are out of the house often, I recommend you have someone look after him.

My favorite anecdote associated with him was the time my father won pet food from a radio station. When the D.J. asked what the dog's name was, he replied "Buttface." (that was his nickname for him) That got a lot of attention from friends.

Crate training is relatively easy. I have my dog trained to go there at night. I tell him "Go night night" and he walks right in. I give him a treat and tell him good night. He barked alot at first, but is good now. He even sleeps in there sometimes when my daughter is getting too rough with him.

If you need any pointers check out PetSmart's web site. They have lots of good information on there about crate training. The most important thing is to make sure he sees it as his place and try not to use it for punishment unless absolutely necessary...

Boston Terriers are great dogs. They have minimal shedding and they're great with children and other pets. (Other pets only if you socialize while they're still young.) I have a 14 year old Boston that I got when he was six months old. His name is Hooch and still full of life. He used to let me dress him up and put him in baby strollers when I was little, and acted as if he liked wearing the bonnets I put on him. He never destroyed anything and is fantastic in the car- we drove two Missouri and back two times with him.

I have worked in a Pet Store for nearly four years so if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

They really are great dogs. He is such a snuggle bunny. He will crawl into bed with us in the morning and make like this puppy whine so we will hug him. It's so cute. He also loves my little baby boy he will lick his feet.

I've had a boston for 10 years. My dad had one for 17. I love them...they can be really protective, and they tend to snore a lot lol! Mine had a problem with seizures a few years ago, but the vet put her on some meds, and she's been fine ever since.
