View Full Version : Has UM solved any segments....
skunk ape 05-03-2006, 09:17 PM ....related to Treasure, UFO's, Supernatural, Legend, or Sci-Med?
This is thread #2500. I feel so special now. A celebration is in order.    :guitar: party:
themaninblack 05-03-2006, 10:27 PM the only one i can think of that is even close to being solved is the Elvis last night segment...

The Elvis last night segment? Which segment are you referring to? Is it the one that claims Elvis committed suicide?
wiseguy182 05-05-2006, 05:52 PM :happyface Congratulations on thread #2500 Skunk ape. P.S., your avatar is really cool!
I've never seen any solved cases from the aforementioned categories. I think they were put on there to get a broad mix of segments.
crystaldawn 05-05-2006, 09:08 PM Well I guess you could say the UFO Guardian case was solved as it was found out to be a hoax, right?
Of course we don't need any confirmation that the lady who was cured of cancer by the tiny ufo that circled her bed was a hoax now do we?
greatgarrett2 05-05-2006, 09:24 PM What about Brushy Bill Roberts and Billy the Kid. I believe if Brushy Bill had the same scars as William Boney (sp?) aka Billy the Kid, then what are the odds? Of course, the Governer never gave Brushy Bill the chance to speak for his pardon. Then, Brushy Bill died of an apparent heart attack on a street in Hico, Texas. So, you could say that 'Legend' came close to being solved.
greatgarrett2 05-05-2006, 09:28 PM Another one that comes to mind is Roger Roxas. His team of hunters actually found treasure in the Phillipines (the Golden Buddha) but the Presidents palace guards confiscated it in a short time. So, you could say treasure was found and the mystery of treasure solved despite the fact it was confiscated.
wiseguy182 05-06-2006, 06:00 PM Come to think of it, the Anastasia one in the Strange Legends category turned out to be a hoax, so that one has been solved.
hovaslash 05-08-2006, 11:12 AM the crop circles has since been debunked.
another flyby was made of the face on mars and that was shown to actually
look drastically different a second time around.
Arnold_OldSchool 03-19-2008, 10:19 PM That face on Mars segment horrified me as a youth. Still can hear Stack's detailed breakdown of the face's features
Todd Mueller 03-19-2008, 10:37 PM I thought the crop circles haven't all been proven to be hoaxes... just some?
The treasure that Babe Ness found was somewhat proven thanks to Capt. Orby Swanner.
And chocolate as an aphrodesiac was proven by. . . nevermind.
CanadianUMFan 03-19-2008, 10:42 PM I thought the crop circles haven't all been proven to be hoaxes... just some?
Yes, only some of the crop circles were found to be hoaxed. There is still no explanation for most of them.
There was one I was thinking of...remembr that segment on the singer who sang "I fought the law and the law one"? They mentioned theories about the girl he was with having something to do with his death. That girl called the show and said she had nothing to do with it. Anyone else remember this?

Yes, I remember that segment. The singer's name was Bobby Fuller.
Titan826 03-20-2008, 11:21 AM I don't think the Bobby Fuller case was ever solved. It happened some 40 years ago, it's unlikely it will be solved.

Actually there is an explanation for the rest of the crop circles: They are all man-made hoaxes.
DALLASTEXAN!! 03-20-2008, 01:18 PM believe it or not I still don't ever recall seeing the face on mars episode.
the elvis segment is interesting. I really want to hear those results that will be released in another decade or so.

What were the specifics as to the hoax in the case? how did they find out? Not that I believed it in the first place. Just curious.

Here is a lengthy article about the case:
http://www.virtuallystrange.net/ufo/mufonontario/archive/carp.html
Here's a quote from towards the end of the article:
In conclusion our findings are as follows:
1) The Labaneks, Bobby Charlebois, Pavel Farfara and possibly others were involved in creating a Hoax video and distributing it as a recording of a 'UFO landing'.
2) That Susan Gill's story was used to pad the Carp event, even though her 'event' occurred (if at all) at a different time.
3) Oechsler used his manipulative ability to build a story even though he knew of the circumstances and exactly what was going on and together with Bruce Maccabee, intentionally misled the public, the media and ufology using unethical means, and bad judgement in order to benefit financially and personally.
4) That the Guardian video of a 'UFO landing' has, after analysis, proved inconclusive and likely is either a pick-up truck or (according to the RCMP investigation) a helicopter
joshypiano 03-21-2008, 01:08 PM Thanks crystaldawn....helpful as always. I remember always thinking this was pretty shady. Not just a case of some people who mis-identified something or who were duped....but were themselves the dupers.

I bought this case hook, line and sinker when I was a kid. I even went so far as to write to Bob Oechsler and order a copy of the complete "Guardian" tape. I also talked with him on the phone about it. I didn't have internet access then, so I had no idea about all the shenanigans that were going on behind the scenes. In retrospect, it seems pretty apparent that this was a hoax. I do believe that Oechsler was in it for financial gain. His response to my initial correspondence was to send a catalog outlining other videos he had for sale as well as a detailed resume showing all of his qualifications (even as a kid the latter struck me as odd).
DarkDante 03-21-2008, 03:26 PM ^ Don't feel too bad Justin, I'm a few years older than you and fell for this hoax as well the first time I saw it. Its one of the better produced UM segments and without knowing otherwise I'd wager most people would've bought into this hoax.
Pretty creepy segment too almost as creepy as the old woman up in Canada who used to take pictures of UFO lights from her window...
