View Full Version : How did you find out about SO, and what are other good sites?
retrochick9 04-27-2006, 01:16 PM I found out about SO from someone on the TVLand board. I had no idea there was a site like this. Are there other TV sites like this? What are some other good sites to go to? Not that I need to spend anymore time online, just curious, lol.

what else? I was doing some research on JOHN AMOS!;) Good Times had just started showing on TVLand this past summer and of course, I had to get some info on my man James. I seen a link that brought me here...AND THE REST IS HISTORY!:D
TVFactFan 04-27-2006, 01:23 PM I was doing some reserach on a Crossover episode between Mork and Mindy/Laverne and Shirley/Happy Days and that's how I arived here. I keep saying to myself-"I know for a fact Mork was in the Cunningahm's living room chasing laverne around the couch"-LOL

LOL!!!!!!! I've tried doing research on John Amos too and I couldn't find a lot. Of course I'm not the greatest online researcher. If you find anything good, let me know on the Good Times board, lol.

I think I remember Mork being on Happy Days too, lol!!!
Brad Russ 04-27-2006, 01:28 PM I was doing a yahoo search on Family Ties, and came across S.O.'s FT board. Iv'e been an S.O. addict ever since. The only other board that even comes close to S.O. IMO, is MySpace. There, you can hear and download alot of great free music, and they have some really cool videos as well. And of course it gives you a chance to get in contact with your schoolmates without having to pay, like that stupid classmates.com site.

Southern Hellraiser 04-27-2006, 01:30 PM I was searching for Roseanne stuff in December 2004 and I came back and registered in February 2005.

I keep hearing about Myspace, but I've never been there. I didn't know it had a classmates-type of thing too, how cool. I'll have to check that one out too! Guess I'll just have to put off cleaning the house to another day again, LOL.
TVFactFan 04-27-2006, 01:32 PM I think I remember Mork being on Happy Days too, lol!!!
Not only was Mork on Happy days, but the Fonz and laverne was on Mork and Mindy

I haven't watched Mork and Mindy since I was a kid, so I don't remember that??? It was neat how they all showed up on all the shows.

Oh yeah, you just go to their search engine thingy, type in your school name and year you graduated, and it'll list everyone from that year who's a member. Iv'e gotten back in contact with people I never thought I'd hear from again, including my best friend from the 6th grade. If you do decide to join, you can even add me as a friend by clicking here (http://www.myspace.com/cuddlyboy24) if you'd like. :)
Another good site I like, is imdb.com. They've got some really good message boards their for virtually every movie ever made, as well as tv shows. Some of the members can get pretty mean at times, but if you have thick skin, it's no big deal. It's not as good as here, but it's still a pretty cool site!!
Brieannas21 04-27-2006, 02:43 PM I was looking for Good Times pictures and I saw a link and I clicked on it and I was on SO.
MsOrange 04-27-2006, 02:45 PM i lurked here many many moons ago, and then I went searching for Gilmore Girl stuff and it came up.. and back I was!

I dodn;t think you posted much on here in 2004 because I don;t remember you back then.

OMG...Cathy's beef with classmates.com: I got a message from someone and it wouldn't let me read it unless I paid. Sigh, fine, I'll buy 3 months. Well, I get my credit card statement for last month and there's another $15 on there. Those jerks renewed me without telling me! :soapbox:
OT, but I had to rant.

Only bad thing I've found is that you can't find classmates who don't list their school and grad year. I happen to come across and guy in my class that didn't have his school's listed, and I never would have found him had it not been for his being a friend on someone else's page.
There's some real jerks at imdb, but some of the threads are pretty funny. And if you're a drama fan, their boards are more active usually.

Oh my gosh, I actually had the same thing happen to me awhile back with a website. I ended up having to pay $30.00 for a website that I didn't even like, just because I didn't let them know I didn't want to renew. The thing that pissed me off about it, was that when I joined, they said absolutely nothing to me about having to tell them if I didn't want to renew. I absolutely hate it when websites pull underhanded crap like that on you!!
Another stupid thing I found about classmates, was that there were only a small handful of people from my graduating year who were even signed up, and most of them wanted absolutely nothing to do with me in school anyway. So it was like, why the hell would I pay $39.00 to talk to any of you assh*les??

Thats the same way with me. I went over there to see who was there ( I was curious) but I wasn't going to pay money to talk to a bunch of jerks I couldn't stand in school.

Yep, exactly. You can find way more of your classmates for free at myspace, and the quality of people you find there is much better too. LOL!!
