I realized yesterday that my one friend's myspace wasn't on my top 8 anymore, so I asked her what happened. She said that it was deleted because she was too young, and her age was set to 14. My age is set to 14 also, but I only put that so my profile is set to private, but I dunno what to do now. They could possibly delete her friends that are underage, which includes me. I changed my age to like 89, lol, but now my profile isn't private anymore. Can anyone help?

wow, really? mine's at 14 too. is she really 14 though?

cause if she's not, it'll get deleted if tom finds out. even if you have a comment that says your real age, you'll get deleted. it happened to me, i set my age at 16 (when 16 was the limit) and i got deleted.

i would suggest just not putting your actual age anywhere on your profile.
or just wait til you turn 14
i don't know

i think if you go to your account settings and click on privacy or whatever, you can set it to private

Children have ruined MySpace.

I agree, I can't believe children are even allowed on the web unsupervised! When I have kids it's gonna be 16 and up and even then it will be supervised.

Children have ruined MySpace.
Totally agree!! Our family computer is downstairs and in the living room where everyone is. So if they do anything bad my husband or I will know about it!!

MySpace used to be a nice place until all the kids discovered it.....

Kids have messed up MySpace, not to generalize, but it's true. I think that you should be 18 before you are allowed to get a MySpace. I didn't get mine til I turned 18. I wanted to be mature enough to handle it.

I saw on the news about this college student who had a myspace. When his professors or something asked for his myspace and he gave it to them, when they looked at it they realized he was gay and they kicked him out of school. That was really sad :(

I agree; I get this friend requests over there and the kids are only 14 years old. No way I'm going to be involved in any of that for good or bad. Police are doing a great job at catching online predators through that site and they need not to stop. Are this kids even aware of with whom they are asking to be friends with? I mean, all I have in my profile is a pic of an ostrich.

i don't get the whole "kids have messed up myspace" thing. it's not like a message board where you have to talk to everyone...if you don't like kids then don't add them as friends. simple as that.

Kazza

It's not about liking kids or not.
It's the fact that are they aware of what are they doing and with whom they can be getting involved? Not everyone is as smart as you. ;)

exactly.
i'm getting really damn annoyed hearing about ******** people who tell people exactly who they are and where they live. parents and adminstrators are freaking out thinking that every kid is as dumb as the ones you hear about. just teach them better, dumbasses. it's not their fault you suck as people.

whatever.

and kids aren't ruining myspace. just leave them alone. and if they request for your friendship, deny it. don't **** yourself over it.

I'm really aware of how dangerous myspace can be. It can be as dangerous as any other site where you post stuff about yourself, but I'm trying to make mine more private. I don't put my last name, and I even hid my comments so no one can see what people write to me. I even took out the town I live in and I switched the states. That probably isn't good enough, but at least it's better than nothing.

they should start a myspacejunior.com. then you can graduate to myspace once you turn 18.

Iv'e noticed a bunch of my friends disappearing from the website lately. The ones who disappeared were all over 21 though, so obviously they left for some other reason. Anyway, it just hasn't been the same without them. One friend in particular I really miss. :(

Like anything in life a few bad ones have ruined it for everyone!! I agree that most everyone here is responsible enough to know what they are doing. Unfortunately some newbies who have no idea of what they are doing and how to be safe have made it bad for everyone.

When I was 11, 12, 13, I didn't do ignorant stuff on the internet.

Kids ruined myspace, and I don't even have one.

Children have brought on too much negative attention to the site that it has caused it to evolve into something that it wasn't supposed to be.

MySpace has turned into an online high school with little "I want to be older!!!" middle schoolers joining in. I graduated HS in 2003, but I can just imagine that the kids who don't have a MySpace are considered "uncool" now. Am I right? :o

I don't think they should shut it down. I've had a blast looking up people who I used to know from high school, and even grammar school in some cases. Some who I haven't talked to or seen in years. A couple of shocks too, I might add. But it helps you reconnect with people you haven't talked to a while. I started talking to some buddies of mine I used to know when I was like 10 and it's been nice catching up and seeing what everyone has been up to.

I, like everyone else here, get sick of those news stories about another kid who was "harassed" on myspace by someone older. I know not everyone is going to be that stupid to trust an online predator (but unfortunately a lot are), but those few ruin the fun for the rest of us, especially if they shut it down. I know I'd be pissed. Like I said, I think the age limit should be 18 and have the little kiddies go to some kind of myspacejunior, or better yet something with a different name so they don't associate with myspace anymore.

i read today in our newspaper that MYSPACE hired some sort of group to start monitoring the website and start deleting items, pages, etc. anything they deem offensive, anything that may get a young person in trouble with pedophiles, certain materials, etc. All of this because of all the issues that have come out of the website use, such as perverts, pedophiles, suicide posts, hatred, etc.

no way should they shut it down, there's a few friends I found on here that I had been looking for for years. It's the parents job to get off their butts and watch their kids, parents these days are so damn lazy. I ONLY add people that I actually know, alot of people turn that site into a popularity contest or something.

Ditto. I moved across the state when I graduated from HS three years ago, so I have not seen many of my classmates since our graduation. I've found quite a few classmates I used to go to school with [not many because I hated my school and the ghetto town] and all that junk. A few of my cousins, including one sibling, have myspace. It's awesome, because I don't get to see them very much. Myspace is a nice way for me to keep in touch with them.

I heard about a website that is similar to myspace... www.myyearbook.com.

I'm out of HS too, and even when I was in middle school, freeopendiary.com (now just opendiary) was the cool thing... then it was xanga... and now its myspace. I do agree that the whole using-it-for-popularity thing is rediculous... some people have thousands on their friends list... what is up w/that? you know they dont keep track of all those people, so whats the point in having them on your friends list?
I've had my own computer in my room for years, but I was always taught responsibility and not to give out personal information. Some kids just arent taught responsibility.

 I had a diary on freeopendiary.com too...it was mainly in high school (so about 1999/2000). I stopped updating in 2001, and I guess my diary got deleted afterwards...they have/had a stupid policy that if you don't update your diary on their site for a certain period of time, they would delete it. It was such a lame-o website.

I dont understand why a credit card isn't just required.

Not for cost- just for verification
Liek they do for Ebay- or other sites.

At least then, your parents have to be involved in your choice of the site-
and someone is accountable -
and if someone weird or harassing bothers you
the site has someone to hold accountable.

seems simple to me.

Parents odn't have to know what their kids are posting, they can still have a password

myyearbook pisses me off. "created by two high school students to kick myspace's ass," the ads say. yeah, all it is is a more childish version of myspace. it basically has exactly the same profile layout and features, and furthermore the management and look is just too informal.

i agree. myspace isn't responsible for predation; it in fact has a page of tips for to keep yourself safe from it; and if someone ends up getting hurt from being deceived by a predator, that's their issue and not myspace's, and it should be handled the way it would be had it happened offline; shutting down the place it happened, where the management had no way of knowing about it, is ridiculous. it's the same concept, but on a lower level of that lady's attempt to shut down the internet altogether. it's not our fault there are people who abuse the site with their foolishness. myspacejunior.com, haha i like that; it actually isn't a bad idea.

Same here! Like my best friend from school...I knew where she moved to, but other than that, I never would have found, nor talked to, her if I hadn't found her on myspace.
