View Full Version : How many of you would have rather been broke and hungry and living on the street
TVFactFan 04-15-2006, 11:37 AM instead of going back to work for someone who falsely accused you of stealing and fired you for it? Another low point for Mabel to go back to a job after they fired her for something she didn't do. I would have just had to do without until another job comes along. I bet you Florida Evans would have never went back-lol
Brian Damage 04-15-2006, 11:54 AM Mabel couldn't do until another job came along, she had a family to take care of.

She still had a Tue, thurs, and Sat job,. She should have just not went back and found something else.

I wouldn't have went back either, because they proved that when something is missing, she would have been the first to get blamed. That couple didn't seem like good bosses to work for anyway. In other words, they didn't trust her.
Why compare Florida and Mabel? Mabel had more weight to pull(no pun intented) Florida had James and J.J.
Ireneparalegal 04-15-2006, 06:07 PM Yeah, I wouldn't want to work for them either. Then again, Mabel had them by their you-know whats when she asked for more $$$$. To each their own.

Like Dee said she should have held out for $40-lol Mabel only went up $5.00

It was still more money and I seriously doubt that they were going to accuse her of stealing again.
CindyRoxiesLair2006 04-15-2006, 08:38 PM No WAY, Jose...
There is no way in hell that I'd go back to work for anybody who falsely accuses me of ANYTHING! You don't do that to people and expect for them to trust you like that again.
I don't care who it is.

I agree 100% Cindy
Brieannas21 04-15-2006, 09:16 PM I would have gone back, I would've stuck with it until I found something else. When you own a house you have to pay your mortgage, electricity, water, gas and you have to put food on the table. When you have to pay all of those bills every month, then you have to make as much money as you can.

I would rather be hungry-lol

I would rather feed my kids and pay my bills then worry about my pride getting hurt.
CindyRoxiesLair2006 04-16-2006, 10:34 AM That being true enough, Briennas, about the "immediate need" of feeding kids and tending to their important needs, etc. There's no doubt about that being true... and yeah, I agree with that... :happyface ;)
But then again, there's such a thing as saving up as much money as you honestly can, just in case something awful comes along (such as what happened to Mama Thomas, in her being falsely accused of stealing) as far as a being on a job goes.
And if that ever happened to me, at least I could say that I've got enough to get by with, and look for another opportunity UNTIL much better comes along. I would NOT go back to work for somebody like that. Ever...
And it's just like I always say: "To each his/her own, to each his/her own..."

Amen to that! You and I see things differently because we have families to take care of. Mabel might not have wanted to go back there, but she knew that at least for the time being she needed to.

Understood.
And I have empathy for all of that. :talk:

You took the words right out of my mouth. It's easy for single people with no kids to say "I wouldn't go back." But when you have kids and bills, you need all the money you can get. And Mabel was a hard working woman barely making it, So she needed that job.
nerrad 04-17-2006, 01:40 PM What was even more stupid was that Mr. whathisname fired her to cover his ass from gambling. LOL
jayjay814 07-31-2006, 03:31 AM As you recall, her character was out every day trying to find another job. They were barely making ends meet with BOTH jobs, so now one job was going to put them in the poor house. So to answer you question, no, I would not let my CHILDREN be homeless or hungry just because someone hurt my feelings. When you're a single mother strugglin to provide for you family, you don't have time for dumb pride.

I hear what you are saying but it's just no way I could have continued working for someone who FIRED me because they thought I stole something and it turned out they were wrong. I would just have to move on

Yes you could, You like to eat too much, and when your kids start asking you what's for dinner and you have nothing to eat, You'll would run back to Mrs. Turner. If you have mouths to feed you can't worry about your pride. You suck it up and move on until you find something better, then you tell Mrs. Turner off.

But Mabel was already in the process of moving on until RAJ went to Mrs. Turner and had them give her a call. So Mabel had some type of plan
