View Full Version : What celebrities have you all met?
gilligan fanatic 04-08-2006, 08:41 PM I only put this in the tape trading section because I have noticed that Lamont has met a lot of celebrities and he doesn't go to many other boards here so I was just looking to see who everyone here and Lamont has met. I know he said he met Al Lewis, Bob Denver, and Andre the Giant. Anyone else Lamont?-lol
padre 04-08-2006, 09:07 PM The first celeb I ever met was Hulk Hogan (early 80's). He was at the local Denny's in Allentown, PA at around 2am in the morning. They were in town for a local wrestling show. He told me where all the other wrestlers hung out, and I met Lou Albano, George "The Animal" Steele - he was the best! A real goof a character in the ring, but a nice quiet guy outside. Lou was too.
Most recently met Quentin Tarantino and Pam Anderson at the Whiskey Bar in Las Vegas (Green Valley Ranch Resort). They were hanging out together at the bar, said "Hi" but figured I'd be pushing my luck if I went further! Funniest thing was, the day before, we spotted Ex-President Clinton walking through the lobby with his keepers. Thought it was quite a coincidence - Clinton and Anderson in the same hotel...but I'm not implying anything! lol

RedWhine56 04-08-2006, 10:44 PM I also live in an area that is ripe for celebrity encounters (Phoenix). If I see someone at the airport or shopping or eating dinner with friends, I normally hate approaching them. I figure they are people too & may want to just get on with whatever they're doing without being bothered. But the oddest encounter was going to a school fund raising event & seeing Alice Cooper (his kids attended the school), looking very Alice-y playing basketball with all the lawyers & doctors in their polo shirts.
JoshFromKC 04-08-2006, 10:58 PM I saw David Cross (Mr. Show with Bob and David, Arrested Development) while I was on vacation in New Orleans. He was in town doing a stand-up show and I saw him walking around, he was a real nice guy and took a picture with me and my friends.
Mister Ed 04-08-2006, 10:59 PM I saw Tom Selleck once but I didn't say anything, something I now regret.

Xavier Hernandez, from the Houston Astros. He came to my high school and I didn't know who he was either because I'm not into baseball. He was pleasant also and gave us autographs.

jasimon1 04-10-2006, 09:17 AM Vince Vaugn (Sp?) was shooting a movie in Chicago last summer and I literally ran into him. They were filming by my el stop and I was totally not paying attention and walked right into him. He turned around and I started to say I'm sorry and realized it was him and I totally went speechless. He just laughed and said it was ok. I'm not even that big of a fan, it was just the fact that I totally wasn't expecting it to be him.
savageamusement 04-10-2006, 10:31 AM When I was 8, I met MR. T on a Shoot- that my cousin was doing the lighting in.
I recall my cousin putting me on his shoulders to watch the shoot- and after I was eating a sandwhich and Mr. T came over, asking me why I wasn't in school
and I was so scared I thew my sandwhich down and ran to our car and jumped in the back seat.

I don't blame you for being scared. That would scare an 8-year-old ... or a 48-year-old!

He was actually kind of funny. I didn't see him at his restaurant, I saw him at the Smithsonian Folklife festival last year. He showed how to cook some kinds of food and it smelled real good. If I am ever in New Orleans I might have to stop by his restaurant.
lizziandme 04-12-2006, 11:29 PM My most favorite - Elvis Presley!
Then I've met: Angie Dickinson & Burt Bacharach, Dinah Shore, Deborah Walley, Ed Byrnes (Kookie), Stella Stevens, Margaret O'Brien, Mama Cass (she borrowed my binoculars to watch Elvis), Carol Channing, Dick Clark, Wayne Newton, Paul Anka, Tom Jones, ran into "Mannix" at the airport and he asked for directions, Joan Blackman, Bill Bixby, Priscilla Presley, Colonel Parker, Sammy Davis Jr., Sammy Shore (comedian), Dionne Warwick, Redd Foxx, and I've seen lots more, mostly in Vegas when I was there to catch Elvis' shows.

Yeah Bret Hart is my favorite wrestler too. You guys are pretty lucky, some cool celebrity meetings here. I've only met Freeman McNeil, nice guy, he came to my elementary school, he used to play for the New York Jets. Other than that, I've met wrestlers like Mick Foley (a local guy from here in Long Island), Brian Blair, Jushin Liger, Wendi Richter, Bruno Sammartino (the living legend, class act, another great technical wrestler), David Sammartino and briefly met a wrestler whose name I forget, they used to call him The Boogie Woogie man, had kind of a hippie gimmick. I also saw Shari Headly in a local drugstore once, but I'm not a fan of hers, so I didn't bother talking to her. She seemed to be good friends with one of the women that worked in the precriptions area. She was in Coming To America with Eddie Murphy, a few other movies and shows, Marked For Death with Steven Seagal too I think. I think she's from Queens, at least it says so on IMDB.
I've also gotten autographs from Doug Marrone (used to play for the Dolphins) and Budd Harrelson from my dad. My dad is a high school teacher and knew Marrone from when he was a student at the school he taught at at the time and Harrelson's autograph I actually got on a birthday card one year through a friend of my dad's that knew him. He used to play for and manage the Mets.
I once saw Lou Carnesecca at a restaurant I was eating at, but again I didn't approach, because he used to coach St. Johns and I'm not a big college sports fan.

digitalmonkey 07-07-2006, 09:24 AM He was great. He was very nice and seemed more than happy to stop to talk to a bunch of us. It was on the Universal Studios lot and a bunch of us (I was 12) were there on a hockey tournament.
