He passed away on January 9th, 1990. He died from Stomach Cancer. Unfortunately, I have no idea how old he was when he died. I do however remembe rthat they did not do a special episode of Sesame Street explaining his death (like they did with Mr. Hooper). Hope this helps!

No... not sure about Mr. Reed, but they made sure to not mention Jim Hensn's death on Sesame Street. His death was addressed in a special that aired shortly after his death, with all the muppets accept for Kermit singing "Rainbow Connection". It was very touching.

I think I can clear that part up. Her husband's name was Kevin Peter Hall and she added the name Hall to hers. When I was little I never remembered seeing her husband on the show. He (just like Alaina)was a regular on 227. They were married on the show and in real life. He died on pneumonia complcations in 1991. He died while playing the loveale monster in "Harry and the Hendersons"

Is it true that Mr. Calloway was mentally ill, or is this a myth? I heard that shortly before his death he was found naked in a field. David was one of the humans that lived on the street. For example, there's Linda, Gordon, Susan, Olivia, Maria, Luis, Bob and others. I know that for a fact because I used to watch it when I was a like 1 and 2.

P.S. I don't care what he was or wasn't guilty of. His decision to stay with a children's show only went to show how well intended he was, not to mention whatever he did to try and take care of himself, and those two things alone is enough to make me forever stay with his beautiful memory.

Surprises me that he was kept after the incident.

I never read the 2008 book "Street Gang, The Complete History of SS'' but before the IMDB page shut down their discussion boards someone posted a piece from it mentioning that he had problems through the 18 years he was on the show.

^^^ Apparently what you saw over at IMDB was a bunch of baloney. If his track record really had been so extensive, them eighteen years on the show never would've happened for him. I have seen some things said about how things were for him just before his leaving the show, but if those things really did happen, I can't help but wonder if Northern was ever once provoked when anything questionable concerning him took place.

In other words, thank you for your help in making sure that he is never forgotten about because in my opinion, he never should've been swept up underneath any rug in the first place.

I think Sesame Street mentioned that David had "moved away" when they did his last episode but I think Mr. Hooper's death was actually the first serious Sesame Street episode and they actually let Mr. Hooper die when Will Lee who played him passed away but it was such a nice way to explain to children what happens when people no longer are living and they should've done something on the show to honor Northern Calloway and that would've been very wonderful

^^^ I could be wrong, but I believe the reason why it was written that Northern's character moved away, it was because Northern was still very much here at that point. His passing came a few months later. If anything more about him ever came later on, I have no idea what episodes the mentions are in.

^^^ To me, what is worse is if there wasn't an acknowledgement of any form after his passing took place. You would think that with him being a part of the show for so long that more would've been done, especially when his character kept alive the memory of the first person that we had to let go of: Mr. H.

P.S. One of my favorite memories of him is when he says to Big Bird, "I'm going to take care of the store. Mr. Hooper left it to me. And I'll make you your milkshakes and we'll all tell you stories and we'll make sure that you're okay."

Perhaps you all need to consider he was fired from the show because of his behavior, and they weren't gonna honor someone because of that reason so let's just drop it and accept the way everything turned out.

I always liked David on the show. Him and Maria would have made a great couple under normal circumstances. I just remember reading in Jet Magazine that something happened concering an iron or something in Tennessee and I was around 7 years old. Pretty rough. Regardless, appreciated him on the show.

^^^ I have to be honest. In my opinion, Northern and Sonia couldn't have looked better together when they first started dating, but just before she and Emilio got together, she and Northern being older by then of course made them both look so different that they just didn't look like the cute couple that they used to be. If anything, they looked mismatched.
