I think what Michael didn't like was the fact that her parents didn't mind him living with Cindy because he was black and that they thought that Michael would be her personal body guard sort to speak. I don't think her parents being over all the time is what got to him.

Exactly. And besides, if Michael wanted family around, he might as well stay home. Same thing, different family. Having your own apt. means getting away from parents. Remember how Rerun felt when Mabel was over all the time.
