Do you have a longtime doctor? I've had a primary care physician for 12 years now. I like her a lot. She's an understanding person who understands that I've been through a lot.

I still hate going to see her though. Exams, tests, all that stuff causes anxiety for me.

Iv'e had a doctor for three days now. He seems pretty cool. Iv'e never had a long term doctor though.

I do not have a primary physician as of right now. My kids go to my wife's cousin who is a pediatrician for a few years now.

This reminds me - I really need to find a primary care physician so I can get a checkup and get my headaches checked. *bites nails*

My late mother had the same doctor for close to 30 years. In fact, they were the same age and went to school together.

I've had a primary care physician every since I was 12 and I'm 25. So she knows me VERY well.

I don't have a longtime doctor. I don't see one very often... I've probably been to one only 4 or 5 times in the last 10 years.
Currently, I am my own doctor. ;)

But my parents have had the same doctor since the mid-'60s... maybe even the early '60s.

See an internist (look under Internal Medicine in the phonebook), not a general practitioner/family physician. They'll have a better chance at figuring out your headaches.

After studying and working around specialists, I've sort of lost faith in GPs.

Oh, I see. Thank you for giving me the heads up, Cathy! I hope the internist will be covered by my work's health insurance. I will have to ask my HR reps. Thanks again. :)

Anyway...I have had my doctor for, oh, 5 years maybe? I don't see him such though because a) haven't had to, and b) I have no insurance. I've had a few other GPs that I didn't like, mostly because I thought their bedside manner was awful. Pardon me, but if I'm there, I'm gonna be nervous because something is wrong with me. So do NOT talk down to me or act like I'm nothing but a hypochondriac. I can't stand doctors who are jerks.

I got a new dermatologist last year. She's nice and her nurse was too. I've had my dentist for a few years now. He's a nice guy too, and young, so I can stay with him for awhile. I had the same pediatric dentist until I was probably 20 and I only lost him because he retired. My current therapist is nice but I'm not wild about my psychiatrist. Fortunately I only see him every 3 months.

Yeah, check it out. Hopefully you can find someone who can help ya! My mom has been to many a doctor who couldn't (or didn't want to) find out the source of her headaches.

I haven't seen a general doctor since I was a peds patient and that was over 4 years ago. Even back then I had no real doctor--just whoever was available in the office. I have no main doctor now. I have no reason for one at the moment.

I was having really bad headaches for like a month, and they got so bad until the side of my face was going numb and when I went to the doc, she told me that I had a chronic sinus infection. So if your having bad headaches you should go.

No I don't have a regular Doctor. I don't hardly ever see one. Two years ago was actually the first time I saw one since I was in HighSchool.

Yeah, I really wanna make the effort of getting it checked out, but I sooooo don't look forward to all the entire procedure of getting a full checkup. I fear it. I don't know anyone who has my patterns of symptoms for these headaches, so I also fear it could be something major. It's scary....

I am anti-health care. I went to the doctors last month. once because I chopped off part of my finger (just the very tip with an Xacto knife) and the second time because I had the flu and needed help. I spent about an hour max both times, and half the time I was waiting around. the first time they gave me some numbing medicine to dull the pain of my finger and a bandage to keep on until new skin was able to cover the wound (it was way too wide for me to get stitches). the second time they said "you have the flu, so stay home, drink liquids, take medicine, blah blah." they didn't even give me anything, so I had to buy the antibiotics myself at the pharmacy. I got my bill a few days ago and the total amounts to $800. for WHAT? and our insurance will only cover $60 and nothing more, no matter how much I'm arguing with them. highway robbery. now I can't pay the bill off and there's no way for me to even get the money. so I was put on a payment plan that I'll be on for the next 36 months. :)

never again. next time, I'm proving my own health care right here at home no matter how sick/injured I get.

That pharmacy bill is ridiculous! Your insurance only covering $60 out of $800 is appalling. I have huge problems with the health-care system too--insurance, medical treatment, the majority of doctor's disinterest with their patients. It's all a huge mess. Your two ordeals are prime examples.
