I was at a job for over six years. I liked it, but quit five years ago. I got tired of the corporate environment.

The shortest job stint was two days. I was tending bar part-time, and it was a horror show. Too much heavy lifting...cases of beer, ice, you name it. I just called my boss and told him I wasn't coming back, lol.

* Longest job: It's my current fulltime job, and tomorrow will be my sixth anniversary. It's also the ONLY fulltime job I have ever had. Wow! Time sure flies by!

* Shortest job: My predecessor part-time workstudy job from the above. I worked from mid-August 1999 to late March 2000. Then, I applied for the fulltime job above and am still there. ;)

My longest job is the one I currently have.

My shortest had to be when I was hired at a movie theater. The day I was hired my new boss started shouting about things he expects to be done etc, etc. So I decided not to even show up for my first day of actual work.

shortest: two weeks. worked for a lawyer (man) and i got tired of hearing him bad-mouth the previous paralegal he had; he called her the "B" word, kept telling me all this negative stuff abt her; it really got annoying. The day I told him I couldn't stand it anymore was the day I quit. He was pissed. I know that the next lady he hired he surely must have started bad-mouthing me.

longest: being a paralegal for ten years.

longest real job: BEING A MOM

Longest: 1 month shy of 2 years. I quit because I couldn't work out a college schedule that worked with the work sked.

Shortest: 1 month. I was babysitting a girl every afternoon after school. Then her mom sort of got laid off, so I did too. I was thrilled...I couldn't stand that little girl anymore. She was such a spoiled little brat. Her mom called me a few months later and asked if I wanted my job back...but I had gotten my current one, so I had to decline (yay!!).

Longest: My current one. I've been working on swimming pools pretty much since '98, though it's very seasonal work.

Shortest: About 2 months. I was a sales rep. for Cutco (technically I still am an inactive employee, but I haven't done jack squat since the end of '04)

My longest job is my current one. It was 5 years in Feb.

My shortest job was 3 months when I was 16. I worked part time during the summer at my mom's job, and I quit when school started.

 What kind of job was that? Did you quit or get fired?

Well I've only had one job in my life, and I need to find another one. Anyway so I guess the longest was 3 years. I guess that's not bad for a high schooler/College kid.

why were you tired of the corporate environment?
I was tired of dressing up everyday and tired of the 50 minute commute each way. Tired of meetings, the stupid birthday parties, the memos, the stress, the phony executives who thought they were great. I felt like I was in prison. I could go on all day.

the longest time was when i was a cashier, i worked their 4 years... then ig raduated college and I am currently in my full time job now. I've been here since June.

My shortest was a 2 day stint at McDonalds, I couldn't stand the people there. One woman, who was asked to spend a few minutes training me, roleld her eyes and in front of me said "I can't stand training new people, they are so dumb. I dont' know about you, what's yoru GPA? Maybe you can handle it" I was like (no offense to anyone) "YOU MORON, YOU FLIP BURGERS! I'M 15, I ONLY WANT THIS JOB FOR SPENDING CASH... YOU ARE HERE FOR LIFE, AND I'M THE DUMB ONE?" Ug... i called and was like "This just sin't working out, i'll come and pick up my check" then they had the nerve to tell me I didn' twork long enough for a pay check? WTF? I've received checks for 5 dollars before from buisnesses. So I pitched a fit and they ended up just giving me cash out of the drawer and I signed a piecer of paper (which was actuallyt he back of a receipt) that said I understood this was my pay. It was the most unprofessional and stupidist thing i'd ever witnesses.

longest: 5 years, current.
shortest: 1.5 hours, left on my own. not my type of work. Customers can be too high maintence. Just because you are paying me, does not mean they you own me. I'm an extremely hard worker, friendly, supportive, almost never miss time from work, but don't ask me to work overtime as I am not interested in the least. My biggest pet peeve is companies that expect employees to work overtime with very little notice, my motto is run your company better and overtime should not be necessary.

For my entire working life I have always been a manager level or higher, I am now more of a lower-level management support employee. I enjoy being able to say to heck with the day at 5pm, no more late hours for me.

Shortest job: At a bridal shop near my home in early 1999 for 3 wonderful days. The supervisor said she didn't think it was the job for me and let me go!! The Help wanted sign was still on the door for months afterwards...it may still be there today!!

Longest job: I went right from that to a job as a ticket booth cashier in a movie theater, from March 1999 to September 2005. I made a lot of friends and saw a lot of shows, but when I got my current job as a call center sales associate, I said goodbye to my life in movies with no regrets. :D

WHAT!? How dare you come down with a fever. Walk it off!! :joke:

Seriously, I have real issues with Blockbuster and their hiring methods. I applied for a customer service position with them and was turned down because the computer survey (STUPID questions) said I was not a good worker. This is with no interview with a face to face person, just a computer. At my current sales job, I have gotten many commendations for my treatment of customers. So I say to Blockbuster: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Your loss!!!

OK, I have that all out of my system now. :D

   I know, right? I can't believe I'd do something as horrible as come down with a fever. I should be ashamed.

I really don't like their methods either. I was supposedly under a 'probation period', which means I was being watched for the first month or so, and if I called in then I could technically get fired (which was the reasoning they gave me the day I was let go). Thing is, they neglected to tell me about this probation period when I was hired.

It's no biggie anyway...I hated it there. The managers were always going outside to smoke cigarettes, and sometimes the employees would follow suit and nothing would be said to them. I worked long hours putting tapes and dvds back on the shelf all day (that was literally all I did). They also had inventory once a month where you had to stay in the store 'til 4 in the morning scanning all their movies. It was such a pain.

Longest: 2 years (or 22 months actually) at a deli.

Shortest: 2 months at a food place on my college campus. I didn't quit because I hated it, but rather because I was getting loaded with projects at the end of the semester and I was going to be leaving the school anyway at the end of the semester.

I have had shorter jobs than that, but those were supposed to be short because they were temp jobs like at a 10 day festival or for a a temp agency. I guess I could count those but I was only counting ones that I left on purpose.
