View Full Version : Who had the better friends?
Brian Damage 03-26-2006, 02:13 PM Fred or Lamont?
I'll give the slight edge to Lamont because I really enjoyed Rollo and Julio. Even Ah choo wasn't bad.
GARFIELDKOOL 03-26-2006, 03:45 PM Fred, because he had more of them. Melvin, Bubba, Leroy, Skillet, Grady, Hutch and Elroy.
gilligan fanatic 03-26-2006, 04:04 PM Fred had funnier friends, but in real life I would rather have Lamont friends because they didn't seem to get Lamont in as much trouble as Fred's friends got him in.
magellan333 03-26-2006, 04:34 PM Good question! Julio and Achoo seemed like somebody that could be relied on in a pinch. Rollo and Lamont seemed really tight. Fred didn't have that cloeseness with any of his buddies. They seemed more like buddies than friends.
Mr. Television 03-26-2006, 04:57 PM Fred. Grady and Bubba were just great friends to hang around.
Brian Damage 03-26-2006, 09:25 PM I loved the character of Grady, but he was a big troublemaker.
Janice 03-27-2006, 01:59 AM I'll say Fred. I've seen more of his friends, and Grady just kills me.
Skywalker 03-27-2006, 02:13 AM Fred. Though I liked Rollo and Julio was ok, Fred's friends were around a lot more and they were always funny.
dandelion wine 03-27-2006, 02:36 AM Hmmmm, I'm gonna go with Fred.
magellan333 03-27-2006, 11:20 PM If the question here is who had more entertaining friends, definitely Fred. Grady was hilarious. If the question who had better friends, I'd say Lamont.

I agree.
Julio is one of my favorite supporting characters on S & S.
And Rollo was great fodder for Fred.
comedyfreak 03-28-2006, 07:54 AM I'll also go with Fred, his friends were funny.
JeffRuss1972 03-28-2006, 11:37 AM I liked Fred's friends, especially in the episode where Lamont goes to court and in the "A House is Not a Poolroom" episode, where they were eating him out of house and home.
FRED: (Nervous) See them in there eatin' Grady? And I'm SCARED Grady. I'm scared that when they finished, they're gonna start on my furniture.
LOL
nerrad 03-29-2006, 09:18 AM Fred did.

:yeahthat I totally agree. It's a bummer that Rollo and Julio were only in one episode together - there should have been more episodes with the two of them and Lamont having misadventures just like Fred had with Grady, Bubba, Melvin, etc. Plus they should've given Gregory Sierra a lot more airtime!! :eyes:

Not only that, did you know that Esther and Julio never appeared in an episode together?

I know! Wasted opportunities...
Cloud9 Lorraine 09-03-2007, 12:23 AM Not only that, did you know that Esther and Julio never appeared in an episode together?
Why was that?

Maybe it had to do with availability. Esther and Julio were only recurring characters, and I know that Gregory Sierra was appearing on lots of other shows and films at this time. I don't think they had iron-clad contracts on S&S like Redd Foxx and Demond Wilson had. That's what I think, anyway...
