Sometimes Lamont acted more like the father then Fred did. He also told him to clean the house all the time too.

he made Fred do a lot of work he could easily do. Then again Lamont is in his 30's and still living at home.

He treated Fred more like a maid or his girlfriend than his father.

You all forget that Lamont worked in the field all day, picking up junk and Fred had all the time in the world to keep up the house. He wanted Lamont living with him even if gets married.

I think it's strange for a man in his 30s to be living with his father in the first place. Given that, they did have an arrangement where Lamont would work and Fred would do the house chores, and Fred didn't keep up his end.

Lamont may have expected too much because as Brian said, Fred was old.

Exactly, Fred on the show was at least 65 years old and wasn't getting any younger. I also hated the way Lamont would talk down to Fred at times.

Lamont seemed like a sensibile guy. If he knew Fred was not capable of the work, he wouldn't have been so pissed when Fred failed to do it.

That's not really a valid question. General discussion of shows that one enjoys or has enjoyed is one thing. That's what these boards are all about.

But constantly harping on and nit-picking every little plot and character detail that doesn't make sense is quite another. Again, it's called artistic licence and it happens all the time.

And it *is* just a TV show, plain and simple. :)

It is just a tv show, but I fail to see the problem with discussing it in detail. That's what this message board is for. It would suck just to post stuff like, "Hey, today is Redd Fox's birthday!" or "Desmond Wilson was really good looking!"

Yeah, that part always bothers me. It's not like chicks want Fred for his money. Lamont said that he didn't remember much about his mother so I guess that's not an issue. Everytime I see the episode where Lamont arranges for Fred to have dinner with Donna and the saleslady at the same time, I think "Lamont really needs a life."

Now that should tell you something...;)

as far as your soap opera comment...it's true...I mean, if we just talked abt the episodes in general, there would be no need for these forums, because we wouldn't be able to say anything else...which is why certain people who don't like to analyze shows, talk abt the characters, look for bloopers, etc. need to stay away from these forums...geez:rolleyes:

It is a very valid question. A lot of people like to go deep in their discussions of tv shows and others just like to read them. One of the most fun I had was just reading the Good Times is not a spin-off of Maude threads. Sure they went on and on but they were entertaining. If you don't like a thread then just ignore them but don't spoil it for those of us who like them.

It's always interesting to me to find out that people wonder the same things I do about these shows, or notice things that I figured I was the ONLY ONE who did. Granted, they are just shows, but some of the characters are so lifelike, you can't help but delve into what makes them tick, what might have been if something had been different, or things like that. That's why we're all here-lol

I am on this message board because I am a HUGE fan!! but I dont look at all the situations that Lamont treated Fred in and turn it in something serious. It was all for LAUGHS and JOKES and at the end of the day thats what the show was supposed to be about.

The way you go about saying "Lamount treated Fred so bad" seems irrelevant to anything about Sanford and Son because in way his attitude towards his dad was why Fred was so funny and vice versa.

then leave the rest of us who have been enjoying what we do best on this forum. it's like people who love soap operas...they know those people aren't real but they get into the show...same here...we love to get into the show, talk abt the characters as well as wonder what we each think if a situation were different on an episode, etc.

RJ let's analyze Aunt Esther for a second. In the early seasons she was outright mean and ready to slap the sh*t out of anyone with that purse. But in the later seasons she was less mean and less wild and not as Loud and Violent. What do you think?-lol
