View Full Version : Have you ever wanted something and discovered that it was sold out or discontinued?
Brian Damage 03-19-2006, 06:36 PM I just discovered that they made Christmas ornaments of Heckle and Jeckle in 2004. My tree every year has nothing but cartoon character ornaments on it. I was searching various online stores and saw it was completely sold out everywhere. Apparently, it is a rare item. I am so pissed off now. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
EmoJoe 03-19-2006, 06:37 PM yeah i wanted a blue iPod mini but now ipod minies are discontinued. i got a nano though and still love it
gilligan fanatic 03-19-2006, 06:39 PM a bunch of books I want are out of print. Many of them have been out of print for over thirty years.
Brian Damage 03-19-2006, 06:46 PM I also wanted this last year, but Sun Coast who distributed them, stop selling them. I found them on ebay, but they were selling for outrageous prices.
staypuftman2004 03-19-2006, 06:58 PM I wanted to get my wife the Pink limited edition DS but they discontinued them and on ebay they want like over $1,000 for it
~LadyJess~ 03-19-2006, 07:05 PM Doesn't really apply because it's out in DVD now, but the year before that happened, I wanted the Back to the Future trilogy so bad. It was the top thing on my Christmas list and I was bummed when my mom told me it was discontinued. Yay for them releasing all of them in a box set on DVD the next year.
TheHappyBurgerMeister 03-19-2006, 11:59 PM Yeah, I was looking for marshmallow alphabits cereal for like a year until I realized it was discontinued. I still miss it!!
moeee 03-20-2006, 01:31 AM Blue Raspberry Pepsi! Unlike others, i really enjoyed it! :D
Disney Guru 03-20-2006, 01:56 AM The Friends 10 Season Pack that was released, i wanted to buy it when it was released but didn't, now it's oop and much to expensive for my budget.
Janice 03-20-2006, 12:24 PM Many times. Lipstick, a style of bra I wore for years, Tylenol gel caps...many foods in the grocery store. It's frustrating.
Brian Damage 03-20-2006, 12:41 PM Does your tree have characters like the ones below? This picture is a picture from my 8th grade yearbook. The yearbook staff took the picture in December 1993. When I read this post it made me think of this picture. We had a door decorating contest and this was one of the doors. I scanned the picture from the yearbook.
My tree has characters like Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Woody Woodpecker, Mr Peanut, SpongeBob, Gumby, The Chipmunks, Popeye, Jimmy Neutron, The Fairly Oddparents, Mr. Bill, School House Rock, Ronald Mcdonald, Dexter's Labratory, etc.
Janice 03-20-2006, 12:50 PM I usually call or e:mail the company to find out if a product has been discontinued (if they're still in business). Often times, a store may stop carrying an item, and it's not discontinued at all.
James"Thunder"Early 03-20-2006, 01:40 PM A lot of Disney movies before they were rereleased
I was looking for a small vhs tape rewinder at all the stores in our town & nobody had them. But I was able to find some online and I ordered 3 of them.
I hate when stores don't carry items that you'd bought there before.
catlover79 03-26-2007, 10:44 PM YES!! I've been trying to find a (cheap) CD of the Bee Gees' Main Course. I thought it was one of their most popular albums, but it must be out of print here in the US. It is available on Amazon as an import, and the people selling it USED are selling it are charging more than the import price!! I'll keep hunting, though...

I also miss Dash and Bold laundry detergents.
Heck, I miss Breeze laundry detergent (from the '70s)--every box had a new bath towel or a set of washcloths!

OH Nuts! 06-05-2008, 11:19 PM Yes, I wanted to get a DVD or VHS version of High School USA and I can't seem to find it anyplace.
There was also a low calorie soft drink I liked that got discontinued roughly 15-20 yrs ago called Diet Apple Slice - it tasted almost identical to Martinelli's cider with a lot less calories and much cheaper too.
Chelsea 06-05-2008, 11:49 PM Pepsi Vanilla
Here's the bizarre thing: I still occasionally see this one on a very, VERY infrequent basis. It's not common at all, but there must be a select group of bottlers that still make the product - probably in areas it sold REALLY well. Reminds me of what happened to Mello Yello in the 90s.
I couldn't find Cookies and Cream Pop Tarts for few months so I thought they were discontinued, but I saw them tonight and I was happy. :D

I liked that stuff...I didn't realize they quit making it. :(
dawsongirl 06-06-2008, 10:43 PM I have a hard time finding Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Pop Tarts WITHOUT frosting. I hate the frosting, but pretty much every store only sells the frosted ones.
