Don't hold back, Irene - tell us how you really feel. Suppressing your true feelings isn't good for you - you really need to learn how to express yourself.;)
Mr. Television 03-18-2006, 08:15 PM Well this movie just sounds like it's going to be the best movie ever made. I for one am glad at the choices so far. I usually am against tv remakes to the big screen but I can't wait for this one. I wonder who get's to play Ray? I'm hoping Andrew Dice Clay.
James"Thunder"Early 03-18-2006, 09:01 PM This sounds like some sitcom parody, in which case it's suppoe to be bad to be funny. The Jeffersons parody of Dallas was better than this mess sounds.

This could end up being one of those movies that's so bad it's good. Keep on with the bad casting!!! I hope the script and direction are as bad as the casting choices thus far.
Maybe Larry Hagman is suggesting the cast members for the movie as to sabotage it - a trick worthy of ol' J.R. himself!;)

And I was actually looking forward to this movie for a long time. I should have known better. I thought David Jacobs had a hand in this movie?
Can we skip the waiting and just give this movie all the Razzie Awards now?

 All these movie studios care about is casting people who will appeal to the young audience. They don't care about making the movie any good.
MikeLutton 04-11-2006, 07:08 AM i heard Ted Micgenley might be in there 2 as Ray
Lol Jk
Mister Ed 04-21-2006, 01:05 AM Yikes! This Dallas movie gets worse every day.
treky 04-21-2006, 01:36 AM JUST ONE WORD: NOOOOOOOO!!!! First J. LO, and the other HORRIBLE choices, and now this!!!
It sounds like that parody Bob Hope did on a special back in 1981!!!

Yes, but Bob Hope parodies are supposed to be funny!:D
I don't understand why Travolta, who's a fairly credible actor, would do a remake of a TV show, yet won't do a Welcome Back, Kotter reunion. Then again, Travolta pretty much will take any $20 million dollar paycheck that's offered to him, so...
Mikado 04-22-2006, 02:29 PM Ok... it might not be so bad, the part of Lucy, a short, chubby but cute and voluptuous girl played by a tall anorexic w***re and J-lo playing a wasp-ish southern belle.......Who's playing JR; Barry Manillo?? " Hi y'all; ah write the songs!!!"

Yup, this may be one of those so-bad-it's-good remakes that's at least worth a rental. Maybe someone can invent a drinking game to relieve the pain of another pointless remake.:D
Too bad movie theaters don't serve alcohol for special occasions like this...;)
James"Thunder"Early 04-23-2006, 04:54 PM I knew this movie would a wreck from the start. You can't top the original, but I say at least do it justice and come up with something that is entertaining.

I'll probably watch it just to see how bad it is. I have no hope that it'll be any good.
treky 04-24-2006, 01:55 AM I'll PROBABLY watch it, just out of curiosity. But, not in a theater; I'll rent the DVD. That way; I can simply turn it off.
MikeLutton 05-05-2006, 03:44 AM how about David spade as Jrs Long lost son lmao
Dr. Thong 05-06-2006, 06:15 AM how about David spade as Jrs Long lost son lmao
Why the hell not?
treky 05-06-2006, 09:40 PM because, that would be an even worse choice than the other ones they have!!! John Travolta and J. Lo as J.R. & Sue Ellen, Luke Wilson as Bobby, Paris Hilton as Lucy and Shirley McLaine as Miss Elly.
Who's next, Steve Martin as Jock????
And, on top of everything, Larry Hagman APPROVES of Travolta taking the role!!!
Mr. Television 05-06-2006, 09:43 PM how about David spade as Jrs Long lost son lmao
Why not, he ruins everything he's ever on.
MikeLutton 05-10-2006, 02:22 AM yeah im sure david spade and Jr other kids get along just fine and Jr gets tired of him not being the ewing they want him 2 be and throws him out of the family n of southfork never seen r heard from again lol.
and Jim Carrey can be Bobbys son or Jrs new partner in Ewing Oil lol.
MikeLutton 05-10-2006, 02:22 AM who the hell is Luke wilson
Dr. Thong 05-11-2006, 07:28 PM Weird casting choices from members here aside, this movie just shouldn't be made. Period.
There will only ever be one J.R.: Larry Hagman.
Dallas was something of its time - I don't know how it would translate to our times unless they revamped the characters and storyline. I could see it only in a storyline where J.R. (bad, evil oilman) becomes president (Bush). It happened in real life - the difference being that J.R. Ewing is cunning and smart and George W. - well, how the hell he ever got to be president of this country is beyond me. At least J.R., however fictional he may be, has brains.

not in the later years. He let that hillbilly wife of his and his doofus of a son put him in a sanatarium.

as a matter of fact, on Soapnet, this is where the storyline is on Dallas, the sanitarium!!!!
80sTrivia 05-11-2006, 08:02 PM To be truthful, I don't have any high expectations for this film...
MikeLutton 05-12-2006, 04:30 AM it wil end up like Dukes and Honeymooners Movie bad and totally forgotten about by everyone.proably go straight to dvd anyway.
Dr. Thong 05-12-2006, 06:52 PM not in the later years. He let that hillbilly wife of his and his doofus of a son put him in a sanatarium.
Okay, that I'll give you. The later seasons were evidence that Dallas went on for too long after its prime. Those storylines were silly and in retrospect are head-shakers. Even my friend who was a Dallas die-hard said after that silly final episode with Joel Grey as "The Devil" that he was glad it was over. And he liked it still - silly storylines and all - but when they did that weird final episode, that killed it for him.
I also agree with the other poster that this will be a bad movie - however, Travolta movies don't go straight-to-DVD and while Dukes Of Hazzard may not have been a very good movie (didn't see it and don't plan to), it was a #1 box office movie and did make some money.
As long as people continue to see these pointless movie remakes of old shows and movies, Hollywood will continue to pump them out.:(

I had to laugh my ass off at this. "Ah write the songs!" But yeah, I know what you mean. It's scary to think about. ohno: Being from Texas, it's great that so many people have loved this show as much as they do but I always wondered if the stereotypes and drawn conclusions would come into play... and now that we have the possibility of Jennifer Lopez and Paris Hilton of all people, this is bound to be a parody.
