View Full Version : New article on Kimberly Pandilios
crystaldawn 03-18-2006, 11:50 AM I came across this recent article that gives a lot of additional info about her case. As most of you probably know David Rademaker was convicted of her murder and was just recently sentenced to life without parole.

synthisislab 03-18-2006, 11:14 PM Thanks for the article. I recall that case and was glad that there was closure to it. What a heartbreaker.
treeman 02-01-2008, 12:31 AM I just saw this segment. Has it also been profiled on Forensic Files? I think i remember seeing it somewhere else.

Yes and no. Yes, Kimberly Pandelios was mentioned a few times in an episode of Forensic Files; no, there was never an episode about the case per se.
Early in the show's run, Forensic Files did an episode about the 1995 murder of Linda Sobek. The name of the episode is "Photo Finish." Because of speculation that Kimberly's murder was connected to Linda's murder (as both women were models), the former was mentioned in the episode. However, the murder of Kimberly Pandelios was an unsolved case when "Photo Finish" originally aired.
supersally1974 02-01-2008, 10:01 AM I'm relieved that they caught the guy.
In the segment, a witness named Brad Leon claimed that there was 3 individuals when he had his chance encounter with a woman he's convinced was Kimberly. According to this article, this incident was unrelated to the case.

This case is so depressing. Adds another chapter to the big book of cautionary tales.
Truly depressing.
What did the article say? It's no longer active.
So the incident that UM re-enacted was no related? It sounds too close, the 3 men, the blond. That is so bizarre if it was un-related. How would they know?
That pig-faced guy (from the composite) gave me nightmares! I couldn't get up and go to bathroom alone...my husband thought it was funny!

Jury Hears Secretly Taped Conversations With Model's Alleged Killer
Burbank Man Could Be Sentenced To Death
POSTED: 6:32 pm PST January 26, 2006
UPDATED: 7:10 pm PST January 26, 2006
LOS ANGELES -- A jury Thursday heard secretly taped conversations in which a Burbank man repeatedly denied that he was responsible for the 1992 sexual assault and drowning death of a 20-year-old Northridge model.
Cindy Haddon, the ex-girlfriend of David Rademaker, confirmed on the witness stand that the voices on the tapes belonged to her and the defendant.
Rademaker, 41, could be sentenced to death by lethal injection if convicted of first-degree murder with one or both special circumstance allegations of kidnapping and sodomy.
The victim, Kimberly Pandelios, disappeared on Feb. 27, 1992. Her remains were found a year later in the Angeles National Forest.
She had moved with her husband, Peter, from Florida to the Southland the year before she disappeared to pursue a modeling career.
In her testimony, Haddon said she agreed to cooperate with sheriff's homicide investigators who were looking at Rademaker as a possible suspect in Pandelios' death.
She said she used a special cellular telephone that taped her conversations with Rademaker onto a data bank accessible to investigators.
"I didn't kill her; that's ridiculous," Rademaker told the woman during one conversation in which she implored him to tell her the truth.
In the same conversation, Rademaker suggested he might kill himself if charged in Pandelios' death.
"I'm not spending the rest of my life in prison," Rademaker said.
Rademaker also said he did not like police officers.
"I don't trust cops; they lie," Rademaker said. "I think they need someone to blame, and they're going to blame me."
In a face-to-face conversation with Haddon at a Lakewood restaurant, Rademaker told the woman, "They've been trying to hang me for this thing for 14 years."
Rademaker also advised Haddon not to talk to investigators.
"When it comes to talking to the cops, don't say anything," Rademaker said.

The prosecution contends that the incident described on the UM segment was unrelated.
Yup. The composite kinda looks like Aileen Wuornos' cousin, which is never reassuring.
wiseguy182 02-01-2008, 07:45 PM I have an update to the UM Linda Sobek case, or at least I did at one time, but neither CD or I can remember seeing the original case. Does anyone recall seeing the Linda Sobek case?

I've seen the Linda Sobek case on an A&E show (it was eirie--showed a pic of her arm sticking out of the sand!), but never on UM. Was it on there?

Yes UM did air it but it seem to have a limited run. One of those I've been searching for. I do have the Linda Sobek update from UM that I believe mentioned they think Charles Rathburn could have been responsible for Kimberly Pandilios' murder as well. Of course they turned out not to be the case.
Hambone2421 05-05-2015, 03:20 PM Was it ever determined if Jeff's eyewitness account of seeing Kim with three men was verified?

"What's your problem, man?"
Seriously one of the creepiest re-enactments UM has ever put together.

He must have just run across some hippies who thought he was getting too close to their lady.
SageSlowdive 05-06-2015, 09:53 PM Unless he is lying, this is by far the oddest coincidence ever.

"Hey man.. What's your problem man?"... Wow it was so scary. I need to see this again!
Hasho 05-16-2015, 08:19 AM Was it confirmed that the "Jeff" sighting was unrelated? It wasn't Kimberly he saw sitting there when the three guys showed up and said "what's your problem man?"
James T 05-16-2015, 11:12 AM How could it have been related? The guy was a registered sex offender who lured a naive & desperate woman to a remote area with the sole intention of raping & murdering her.
This guy said he was there 2 days later-either he is a fantasist who made it up after he saw the reports a year later, or he really was there & came across some potheads who likely thought he was taking too much interest in the female member of the group.

He seemed so believable in the segment. He swore up and down it was Kimberly that he saw. After finding out all of the details, I now think he was yet another one of the "eyewitnesses" that just wanted to be on TV.

Quite probably-we are in a more unique position the last 10-15 years or so to see how desperate people are to be in the spotlight with this cult of 'reality shows' & talentless celebrities that will do or say anything for another headline or television show. Back then people were generally more trusting of peoples motives.
If somebody can con people they were in the twin towers on 9/11 for years & another person can convince people they were a concentration camp survivor for decades & write books on it before being exposed this seems pretty tame in comparison to make up.

Very good points.
TheCars1986 06-08-2016, 06:36 PM Sorry to bump an old thread.
This case is solved, and seems cut and dried. Rademaker lured her to the remote location and murdered her.
But the biggest mystery that remains is whether or not the witness "Jeff" was telling the truth as to what he saw. I believe he was. He saw these people on Saturday, while Kimberly went missing two days prior on Thursday. He also happened to show authorities the site where he went, which coincidentally was 50 yards from where Kimberly was ultimately found. I think this is too much of a coincidence for this to have been "Jeff" not to have seen something that he took the time to actually note and remember. "Jeff" certainly seemed believable, and I can't think of any rational reason as to why he would come forward (not to appear on UM, but to actually contact law enforcement with the information he had) if he were simply lying. He could be charged with a crime if that were the case.
Ultimately, I think "Jeff" got his dates mixed up. I think he witnessed these people prior to Kimberly's death. He saw a girl resembling Kimberly, and the men probably wanted him out of the area because they were doing something they didn't want to draw attention to.

I agree in full.
As I've stated before, the Angeles National Forest is huge. If you go away from popular trails, it'd be an ideal place to be up to no good. I think it's possible that the men Jeff saw were either doing drugs or up to some sort of criminal activity, which is why they were so adamant that he leave.
