if Florida's character would have been killed off, I personally think it would have had a worse affect than James's character. It definitely would have wrapped up after the 4th season in my opinion.

That would have been the true test to see if James could carry the show without Florida.

I'm not sure about that. You may be right, though, depending on the popularity of the J.J. character at the time. (I didn't start watching until the 80s-lol) If they did kill of JJ, they would probably have needed another outlandish/or at least SEMI-over the top character to offset the serious situations in the Evans household. Bookman perhaps?:lol:
