Continuing from "Y&R fans?"...

Well, Y&R didn't get any nominations for Lead Actor OR Actress (which is insane!!!!), BUT Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren) got a nomination for supporting actress and Greg Rikaart (Kevin) got one for supporting actor once again. Christel Khalil (Lily) and Camryn Grimes (Cassie) also got nominations for younger actress and Michael Graziadei (Daniel) and Bryton McClure (Devon) got nominations for younger actor. Y&R of course also got a nod for Outstanding Drama Series.

:lol: I think that's what he prefers to go by, but perhaps it's a bit too informal for the Emmy's.

I'm not really counting on Y&R to win, because it seems like the Emmy's rarely like to award it as the Outstanding Drama Series, and it wasn't the greatest year for the show. However, I'm definitely still rooting for it to happen!! What would make me the most happy is if Tracey E. Bregman won. She barely gets any attention these days, so this is great for her. The last (and first) time she was nominated for an Emmy was in 1985.

Do ya'll like the new Lilly so far? I think she's cute. Her name is Davetta Sherwood and she used to play on UPN's tv show Platinum about 3 years ago. It got cancelled after 6 episodes. I got all the episodes on dvd because i really liked the show and i was mad when it was cancelled. She also played in the movie Back In The Day with Ja Rule, Ving Rhames, Pam Grier. She was on a episode of Boston Public also. I like the new Colleen too. I think her and Daniel are gonna hook up and become a couple. Things are heating up between Nick and Phyllis. I wonder what's gonna happen when Sharon finds out LOL. Gloria is starting to get on my nerves always being a pest to John. She better hope nothin happens to John because she'll be on the streets if somethin does happen to him hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Devon asks Lily out for Valentine's Day, and after hesitating, Lily says yes. Victoria tells Nikki that the wedding is off, and wonders if she should reconsider. Brad asks Victoria not to break off the engagement. Victor enters as Brad and Victoria embrace, and warns Victoria to rethink her decision. After getting advice from Victor, Phyllis asks Jack to drop the injunction. Later, Victor tells Jack that his injunction has been denied. As Michael is about to confess to D.A. Bardwell, John and Ashley arrive to retract Ashley's prior statement. Bardwell doesn't believe that John shot Tom, so John demands a lie-detector test. Meanwhile, Paul tells Lauren that they found blood on John's coat, and she wants to stop Michael from confessing to Bardwell. The test results prove that John was telling the truth, but it's not enough evidence for Bardwell. Paul arrives and says he has the evidence that they're looking for.

Did anyone else think that Mac looked like Victoria(the Heather Tom one) when she came back from the pharmacy near the end of the show today?

:lol: Yeah, I had to think twice after first reading that post myself. Maybe he got confused watching the previews from the day before. From the previews, it made it seem like Dru saw them.

Who else thought it was funny at the end of Friday's episode, after the police had carted John and Ashley off to the station and Gloria fell into Jack's arms sobbing, Jack had that "I'd like to bitch-slap and strangle you" look that he always has on his face after any discussion with Victor? :lol:

From seeing the previews last week when Drucilla walked in Gina's restaurant, it did look like she saw Lilly and Daniel kissing but she didn't catch them. Colleen was plotting with Lilly today on how to steal JT away from Mackenzie. Colleen's notes she wrote down on a piece of paper on how to get JT back fell on the floor at the coffee house and Mackenzie saw it when she kneeled down to pick it up hahahahahahahahahahahaha. The Abbotts take in the news that John has been sentenced to seven years. Ashley and Jack discuss putting "Plan B" into motion. Jack and Ashley start to tell John about their "Plan B" - he's leaving the country tonight. Gloria enters as Jack and Ashley prepare to send John to Ireland. When Devon spots Lily and Daniel together at Crimson Lights, Lily quickly tells Daniel to keep his hands off of her. Neil and Dru enter while Daniel and Devon mix things up. Later, Dru pays Daniel a visit and warns him to keep away from Lily. Nick returns home, prepared to tell Sharon the truth about him and Phyllis. So, did anyone see the episode they showed on Soapnet tonight? They showed the ep where Cassie died. If they wanted to entice people to watch Y&R, which is what I presume they were doing since they are going to be showing the daily episodes now, they sure picked a good one. I just came upon it while switching channels, and at first I really didn't want to watch it again, but I kind of forced myself to watch it. And I have to admit, just like before, I teared up especially near the end there. I didn't know if it would affect me like the first time I saw it, but yep it did. A powerful episode.

Well Nick and Sharon kissed Thursday. I didn't watch it Friday because i forgot to tape it. Can somebody tell me what happened? Colleen told Victoria that she knows about her sleeping with JT. Victoria looked stunned when she got off the phone with her LOL. Colleen really needs to let that go what happened between JT and Victoria because Colleen and JT weren't dating when that happened. Colleen is very jealous of other women that are interested in him. LOL@JT looked like he was gonna smack Daniel when he asked Daniel why did he tell Colleen what happened between him and Vicki. JT said to him, you listen to other people's conversations now and you're a snitch LOL.

Ugh, I know. I was so disappointed to learn we have to deal with her for another week. :lol:

Another plot line that befuddled me is Nikki being shot by the carjacker. It's not like they need to show what a great hero Victor is and that he has Superman-like powers... they've crammed that down our throats for the past several decades. The shooting didn't really heal the rift between Victor and his children in regards to business. Heck, Nikki wasn't even left wheelchair bound for eternity (until a miracle surgery is performed on her, giving her the ability to walk again...) So, it's one of those pointless plot lines, giving me the feeling that the show is now plot driven rather than character driven. The whole useless Sheila and Lauren storyline was proof positive of this, but further storylines are making it undeniable. Bill Bell always made sure all of his storylines had a point, an emotional outcome and payoff, for both the characters in his shows and the loyal viewers. These new writers really need to watch episodes of the shows under Bill's direction... maybe they could learn how to write for the wonderful and rich characters he created for the unforgettable canvas of Y&R...

I might be the only one, but I actually like the holiday ones. It's a nice change of pace, and I especially like the ones where they are having pool parties and such. I guess because they remind me of summer, and that is when I first started watching Y&R, when my brother would come home from college and turn it on, so I would watch it with him. Ah, Those lazy days of summers gone by.:)

I actually like them, too. I agree that it's a nice change of pace every now and then. We don't get them very often, but every now and again it's nice to see people actually getting along and avoiding the drama for a day. What I hated was last week when the ENTIRE episode was the Nick/Cassie dream. Now, that was boring.

They pulled that same thing on me a few months ago - saying someone(I forgot who) was leaving the show who'd been on it forever - and so I bought the damn magazine. The "Summer of Brad?" I found this "spoiler" on another board. I'm not even sure if it is a real spoiler, because in a way it sounds completely ridiculous...but this is Y&R. But I thought it was interesting enough to post!

Turns out 20 years ago Victor and John Abbott swindeled some businessman out of his entire fortune, leaving the family totally penniless. Sound familiar? Yes it was the "current" Brad Carlton. Oh he remembers Victor and John very well. Back in the day Victor killed the "real" Brad Carlton, whom was a childhood friend of the Brad Carlton we know now. So the Brad Carlton we know now, assumed the identity of the dead childhood friend, and headed to Genoa City. He has now married into, and slept with just about all the Abbott women, having children with them, and getting a nice lump sum along the way. Brad Carlton has also had his way with Nikki Newman if you'll remember, and of course is now married to Victoria and carved out a really nice chunk for himself at Newman. Well thats not all....he is J.T's biological father! Yep thats right! Good thing he and Colleen have never consumated their affections for one another! The only person whom knows the truth about J.T's paternity is none other than J.T's. biological mother (whom will be played by Genie Francis). She and J.T's were abandonded by the Brad Carlton we know now 20 years ago to come to Genoa City to seek his revenge. Victor knows ALL of this, which is why he is now being so nice to Brad and giving to him so generously.

I'm a big fan of this show I've been watching it since 1992 I rarely miss a day unless my tape doesn't record it but it's nice that Soapnet TV is airing them at night so incase you miss it or can't record it during the day you can see it in the evenings and weekends too! It really does, although some parts of it sound like they could be true. Since they've already pretty much figured out the Brad we know isn't the real Brad Carlton. I'm also suspicious of how detailed it is. Spoilers don't usually give that many specifics, and that much of a story. Y&R is known for its long storylines, so something like that could take months to cover!

I guess I'm glad I missed that.

Christel was on That's so raven while she was still on Y&R...she was just a guest star on that show and she hadn't left Y&R yet...so that's not what she left the show for... I actually havn't seen her in any other show yet...

That was probably it. I didn't watch the whole thing so I don't remember the name of it, but I was doing my usual flipping through the channels when I saw Melody on it. But I only watched the part where some guy passed out from the sickness, and she was trying to keep some other guy from touching him. Then I changed the channel during the commercial and didn't go back.:lol:

I didn't see Lauralee in that other movie you mentioned, but I did see a picture of her for that(I think) in TVGuide.

But just yesterday I did see Jeanne Cooper in an episode of Gunsmoke. Obviously she was much younger at the time, but I did instantly recognize her. Which kind of surprised me, as I know she had some cosmetic work done when she got older, so I was amazed at how it didn't really change her looks much, seeing her before look in that old episode of Gunsmoke. You know some people who have plastic surgery, it just changes their whole "look" and they almost don't even look like the same person(Kenny Rogers comes to mind;) ).

Yeah its Hope he is seeing. And your right it is not the original actress, I was wondering the same thing about them not using the original Hope. Who knows why the original is not back, I guess it could be the same reasoning as when characters disappear without a word as to where they went, just all of a sudden they are gone, i.e. Olivia, where the heck did she go????? I know the Alex storyline should be interesting.

In one of the last few SOD's it said the original Hope was supposed to come back. I guess it was planned and everything, but at the last minute she had another commitment.

I am intrigued by the entire Brad Carlton/False Identity storyline. The fact that Brad's mother is a concentration camp survivor is a bit far-fetched, however. And I strongly believe the loose-cannon plot line of having Brad sleep with Sharon just weeks ago really detracts from this current portrayal of a man who now must protect his family and loved ones from an unknown menace at all costs. The writers are slapping together too many different plot lines at once to make a truly cohesive story line...

I agree! The concentration plot is not only ridiculous, but the woman who is going to play Brad's mother, played Anne Frank, in the movie of "The Diary of Anne Frank," now that is going a little bit too far. And besides if Brad's mother was in a concentration camp, which was during WWII, wouldn't Brad have been born during the late 1940's or 1950's, making him in his 50's. :confused:

I'm a little disappointed with this. More interested in the Dru/Neal/Carmen triangle. Hope they do a better job on this one.

Was I the only one who was emotional when Michael came in to talk about John being released from prison. Did you notice that when Jack went to shake his hand how emotional he got, you could tell he knew that it was the end of the character John Abbott. Very touching. :(

I know I have been watching for signs from the actor's for some real emotion due to him leaving, but I can't say that I've really seen any(although I did miss that part you mentioned).

I have to say I kind of wish he didn't kill that main villain. I think he was a pretty good bad guy, and I would have liked to have seen more of him coming back to torment the residents of Genoa City.:D

A recent SOD said John passes away on the 18th, but it's not the last we'll see of Jerry Douglas. I hate when the show does that. They have someone die and then they come back as a ghost or someone has "visions" of them.

I agree. He's awful. He's even worse than the last Billy, and I didn't think that was possible. He's just so wooden, and shows emotion poorly. I'm not sure why David Tom isn't back, because there were rumors he would return. I'm pretty sure Billy was written out last time, because his re-cast was so unpopular with the viewers.

Well, watching John pass away last week was almost as painful as watching a real-life loved one die... It was fitting that there were so many people there to pay tribute to John, as he really was one of the more decent male characters on the show! It was wonderful to see his daughter Traci making a rare visit to Genoa City, just in time to say her final goodbye. And Katharine and Jill were both very touching... not sure about the new Billy or whether or not he will become a fixture on the show. Maybe he will be like Scotty Grainger and just simply vanish into thin air without an explanation!!! :crazy:

But it was a great build up to the confrontation between Jack and Gloria. There hasn't been this much action on Y&R in a long time, so I enjoyed that part.

It is what made Jack Jack. In the old days, when Terry Lester was the original Jack, this is the way he was, cold manipulative and you love to see what he was going to do next. I'm glad the epilepsy storyline has picked up...and man, Eric Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott have been amazing! I have no idea how long it'll last but I'm firmly on the Nick and Phyllis train until there isn't one. I can't believe how far these two have come in the last 18 months and I can't wait for our baby girl's birth.

Two-time Daytime Emmy nominee Christel Khalil will return to The Young and the Restless in the role of Lily Winters. Khalil's return after an absence of about a year means that newcomer Davetta Sherwood has been let go.


"Christel Khalil is an extremely talented actress and we are thrilled to have her back in the Y&R family," Y&R executive producer Lynn Marie Latham said in a statement.


Khalil joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in July 2002 as the third actress to play the role of Lily. In 2005, the young actress surprised fans and show execs alike by announcing that she would not be renewing her contract when it expired. At the time, a setside source told soapcentral.com that one of Khalil's reps had given the show the impression that Khalil would be re-signing with Y&R - so when Khalil announced her planned departure everyone was caught by surprise. To accommodate her departure, Khalil agreed to stay beyond the original terms of her contract to help the show tie up the character's storyline


"I don't have a mortgage to pay," Khalil noted when explaining her reasons for quitting. "So it's the right time to be unemployed and really go after my dream, which is to be a movie star."


Sherwood began taping her first Y&R scenes in January, about four months after Khalil last aired as Lily. A newcomer to daytime, Sherwood faced the difficult task of climbing into a role held by a fan and peer favorite.


Sherwood will make her final appearance in a few weeks, though CBS has not yet released a date. Khalil, meanwhile, begins taping on September 28th.

Two-time Daytime Emmy nominee Christel Khalil will return to The Young and the Restless in the role of Lily Winters. Khalil's return after an absence of about a year means that newcomer Davetta Sherwood has been let go.

I mostly feel neutral about the news. I disliked Davetta at first, but eventually began to like her as much as I did Christel. I think it is kind of tacky to let her go just because Christel didn't find the fame she wanted. Some good news would be that David Tom is coming back as Billy. Yeah, I said valley girl because of her vocal inflections. There were times on the show with the way she'd talk that for me were just irritating.

From the very start, I liked Davetta as the replacement. Just this past week, the scene where she's talking to Devon as he's lying in the hospital about how the girls in school talked about how cute Devon was, and she said "I know, that's my brother" I really, really liked her in that scene. That's what I meant earlier when I said she was "natural." It didn't even seem like she was acting to me. She was just really good there and Y&R is losing a good, young, pretty actress in her. I hope she moves on to something even better.

No matter who it is, I think it's awful to ditch the recast just because the original (well, in this case, the original teen Lily) wants to come back.

She's nowhere near Heather Tom's level for me, but I must admit I have gotten used to Amelia Heinle as Victoria. Now that Heather has left OLTL, I wonder if she has any desire to return to Y&R. And if she does, I wonder how fast Amelia will be out the door.

The casting directors over at Y&R really need to do a better job. I've noticed that they seem to have trouble finding suitable actors to replace actors leaving an established role. They also need to do a better job with casting secondary characters added to the canvas of the show temporarily, but to be fair, the writers take most of the blame for this one when they add weak new characters (Carmen, Yolanda, etc.) that don't really add any dimensions to the storyline...

:rofl: :lol: at the Dru/Carmen scene today! Dru had the woman in a choke hold, and she just stood there taking it. She didn't even attempt to get Dru off of her! I was hoping Carmen would be gone by now, but that scene was definitely worth it! I hope she leaves Genoa City VERY soon, though.

I loved Dru's smack down on Carmen, too! Unfortunately, I think Francis Ford Coppola wannabe Noah left his video camera on which caught the whole scene... I so want Carmen out of Genoa City!!

I really hope that Lauren and Micheal don't split because of the whole Jack thing...That kind of stress might lead to Lauren having complications with her pregnancy and she might lose the baby...I really don't want that to happen...that happens a lot on soaps, a married couple deeply in love, get pregnant, lose the baby and then their marriage starts to end little by little...

There's a rumor that the stress will cause Lauren to go into premature labor. Though, it's not confirmed by any Soap magazine/site yet. Months ago there was another rumor saying either Phyllis or Lauren will lose the baby. I'd hate for that to be true.

You are right on with that one. According to a Y&R site, the suspects will be: Dru, Sharon, Jack, Victoria, and Neil.

I agree, though I think it was more of the show's doing than anything else. I don't think they wanted Davetta to begin with. I'm shocked, because I thought Davetta had great chemistry with everyone she worked with. Like someone said it is the show's loss not Davetta. Christel is so weak as Lily.

The interview with Josh Morrow and Michelle Stafford is pretty funny. They must have a lot of fun on the set.

I've visited the Innertube site and I did view the Y&R interview clips, which are a lot of fun! :) It would be nice if they would have entire episodes of the show, like they do for some of their primetime line-up.

They got rid of the wrong character. They should have gotten rid of the character of John Abbott Jr who is a sleazy, amoral and a big mouth jerk.:cool:
