lol me too! they did a really nice job with that episode. good writing, almost a bit complicated between the known vendettas and the hypotheticals with the various characters...for me anyway. i think it will be someone we least expect. i'm still trying to figure out how sheila will evolve out of this:D

I agree... yesterday's episode was the best written/acted/produced episodes in a very long while! clap: I hope the changes with the writing team for the show will bring back the top-knotch storylines that were always prevalent while Bill Bell was still alive! :)

I'm re-watching the episode right now and enjoying seeing Carmen getting b@*ch-slapped again and again! :lol:

Anyone wondering if that girl who works at Newman that Bardwell's assistant brought in to talk to him today, is really Sheila after her surgery?
Or is that stretching it?
She was implicating Michael Baldwin, which is something Sheila would do to try and make Lauren's life hell, and/or to get him out of the way so she can go at Lauren with no obstacles in her path.

yapping about rebecca to corbell? making a mountain out of a mole hill about j.t's job and the fact that she can't comprehend the nature of it and the confidentiality factor? he's kind of weak about setting her straight too though.

Colleen was definitely getting on my nerves yesterday and when she was going on and on about J.T. investigating the professor, it sounded like an old married couple arguing over who takes out the trash... boring!

Eileen Davidson Out in the New Year

It is a decision that will surely have many fans of The Young and the Restless up in arms. However, fans of a rival soap may be sitting quietly with their fingers crossed. In a surprising casting decision, Y&R execs have decided to fire Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott).

Davidson originated the role of Ashley in 1982 and remained a core part of the Y&R cast through 1989. The actress then jumped networks and enjoyed atwo-year run on NBC's Santa Barbara. After the cancellation of Santa Barbara, Davidson remained with the network and set a daytime television record: she appeared simultaneously as five - yes, five - different characters on Days of our Lives. For her work on DAYS, Davidson was nominated for her first Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actress field. Davidson's stint on DAYS lasted from 1993 through 1998.

In 1999, Davidson returned to Genoa City to play a single character on The Young and the Restless. During her absence from the CBS soap, two other actresses had played the role of Ashley - Brenda Doumani from 1988 to 1995 and later Shari Shattuck from 1996 to 1999.

In 2003, Davidson earned her second nomination for the Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmy. It was her first such honor for her work on The Young and the Restless.

As the recent months have gone by, Davidson's Ashley has been more of a background character, and the actress has expressed some of her frustration with her lack of air time in various interviews.

Now, there is word that Days of our Lives might be interested in having at least one of Davidson's former alter egos return to the fold. Which character is obviously still very much up in the air.

A CBS spokesperson would not comment on Davidson's firing; some fans are already speculating about Ashley's possible role in the whodunit death of Carmen Mesta.

Davidson will continue to air through January 11th, 2007.

Although the character of Ashley can be annoying at times, I will really miss Eileen. I think she is a great actress.

boy today's thanksgiving episode just sucked. i hate these slow sappy crappy ones. the best part though was when zippotto (victors mutt) ate the turkey! :lol:

Holiday episodes usually are a bit boring... Zapato eating the turkey reminded me of that scene in A Christmas Story, with all the bloodhounds eating the Christmas turkey! :lol:

I agree. It felt nice to finally watch a great episode. Although I'm not a big fan of Colleen being with professor Korbel...but they do have good chemistry.

Right now, I think they are just saying that her contract is up next Spring, and are speculating whether or not she will re-sign, or leave the show. She better not leave!

I agree. She wasn't happy until she took him away from Mac and then when she finally gets him, she wants Korbel. I never liked Mac's character but it's just the idea that she stole him away from her. I can't stand her character. She's so whiny.

I also agree with what you said about Phyllis' baby. I think it's Jack's--especially after those elevator scenes.

Brad's Nazi Past
Catharine and Jill's Baby-Gate
Jack's Continuing Moral Decline
Carmen's Demise and Aftermath

You left out the Colleen JT storyline which brings me to my question on last thursday jan 4th show Colleen was all ready to break up with JT even after they had great sex and hell even had JT going along with it gonna help her pack etc they have shower sex and On Fridays show there back together tight as ever whats the deal here

Personally, I think Y&R is juggling too many disparate plot lines at the same time to give the show any cohesion:

The Sheila as Phyllis debacle
Brad's Nazi Past
Catharine and Jill's Baby-Gate
Jack's Continuing Moral Decline
Carmen's Demise and Aftermath

As tiresome as the Carmen storyline is, the one that I'm most sick of is Brad's past. I hate what they got themselves into with this one. I wish they would move on.

Well being a Y&R fan for many yrs I've learned something about storylnes and characters When Victor decides to get involved like he has with Brads deal. It will end but Victor will end up being the big hero because the show revolves around him he has the most money power etc and knows how to deal with bad guys its like he's super victor even with epilepsy he's still the man. I wonder why they just dont call it the victor newman show

You also forgot the Lauren can't get out of the house storyline, although I think that one is about to be resolved with drugs.

The Sheila/Phyllis thing is just bad, I mean she breaks the lamp Paul goes in and who didn't see that coming that Sheila would try to hurt him. Did Paul see "Silence of the Lambs????" :lol:

Oh, I know, and it's so sad when you can tell they are real tears. I can't believe how they managed to write a main character's storyline into the ground. It makes no sense at all why they fired the head writer, and got a new one. That's where I'm putting the blame for the current condition of the show. Y&R won 3 Emmy's under the writing of Kay Alden...I doubt that will happen with the new writer. Y&R recently celebrated 18 years of being #1 in the ratings, but I wonder if that will even last now.

Yes, it was definitely a sad moment. It's always sad when a main character leaves. It just seems even worse this time, because it was the show's doing, and not Eileen's. It's awful how they wrote Ashley into the ground. Hopefully she will agree to return to the role someday when they think of something exciting for Ashley again.

Hey guys what did you think of todays episode? I loved it! I knew Sheila/Phyllis would get out one way or another. :crazy: I hope the Detective isn't dead but she shouldn't have been nosing around and spying on Paul. I am kinda tired of the Sheila bit though, they have really worn that character out. I just wish Lauren would kill her and get done with it.

As for Collenn, I am really not liking her right now. She is a nut! And I am also ready to find out who killed Carmen and get that whole thing over with. Time for new story lines. Until next time!

Amber is just a waste of time for me, I don't like watching scenes that she's in... and it's kind of predictable that something's gonna happen between Daniel and her... For the life of me I cannot figure out Victoria Rowell(Dru)career decisions over the yrs since she started on Y&R many yrs ago shes like a yo yo shes on Y&R gets big storlines her character is a big part of the show then she decides I wanna branch out do other things like hmmmmm like being in one of the worst movies ever Ghost Dad with Bill Cosby

then after it flopped she came back stayed awhile then left for night time tv Diagnosis murder which wasnt a bad show but after a few yrs it was cancelled and she came back to Y&R and now after being a major player again on Y&R shes leaving for other acting roles etc.,

Geez Louise make up your mind either stay in daytime as Dru or stay off the show until you get a big role in a popular nightime tv show or blockbuster movie and quit using Y&R as your safety net to go back to if outside of Y&R your acting career fizzles just my opinion

Today's episode was the best in a very long, long time! :clap:

The tribute service to Dru was very touching and appropriate. I loved that Sharon mentioned Dru's goofy hats! :lol:

I enjoyed the powerful scene between Nicki and Victor. I'm so glad she finally let Victor have it and everything she said was 100 % the truth about Victor not seeing her as an equal and about not wanting her to succeed, because he truly doesn't want to be with a woman who has any kind of power of her own... He's so power-hungry, it's sick! :mad:

Michelle Stafford proved... once again... that she is the best actress in all of daytime television. She just blows me away with every scene she is in and today's tearful confessional at the sight of Dru's untimely demise was incredibly emotional. Phyllis was so right when she said that Dru would be loving the fact that she was crying over her and actually saying how sorry she was for her role in her [alleged] death. Just hand Michelle Stafford (another) Emmy! :clap:

I agree. There's been quite a few times over the years where it seems like all of the storylines are ridiculous and are going nowhere, but it always turns around.

I agree that Y&R is not the show that it once was under the amazingly gifted Bill Bell, but I do still feel compelled to watch. I find it upsetting that the new writers at the show have run rough-shod over once beloved characters and the show at times seems more plot-driven than character-driven. Bill Bell was a genious at creating characters that the audience loved and cared about and writing situations and storylines that brought the viewer into his world, a world he created so lovingly. Unfortunately, the soap world is a different place than it was when the show debuted in the mid-1970s. With eroding viewership and having to battle to keep people's interest, the soaps of today have so much competition from other media sources (cable TV, the Internet, DVDs, iPods, etc.) quality is bound to suffer...

IMO, there is no justification for cheating. And that is basically what Daniel is doing. Once you cross that line from merely being an observer of porn, to actually engaging someone to help you live out your fantasies(which is the natural progression of porn addiction), that's cheating in my opinion.
Daniel could have talked with Lily if he wanted more sex or wanted to spice things up in their lovelife, but I don't recall him ever doing that.
I think Amber kind of got him turned on to the porn thing by sending him those racy pics, and since she was a friend it made him more comfortable and ok with it, and it just ballooned from there.

I guess I wouldn't fit in very well in the soap opera world, would I?!;)

Okay rest easy joshua Morrow i went on Yahoo answers and he is definitely not leaving and neither is sharon case Here is an explanation into his Y&R situation

He has not been let go from the Y&R. He resigned a contract for 5 more years along with Sharon Case for 3! The plane crash was done just in case he wasn't coming back, but he is!!!!

Sorry for the mixup wonder how long it will be before he turns up on the show.

I agree with the person who said Lilly's body is wack. She is very skinny and that's why Daniel has been hooked on porn online. I don't think they're having sex often and maybe that's another reason why Daniel has been looking at porn. I blame Amber for getting him hooked on that because she's the one who told him about the porn website. Adrianne Leon (Colleen) has been let go. She will most likely be recast. I think the actress herself was doing a good job, and recasting her would be ridiculous. Apparently, she didn't even find out she was fired until she ended filming a couple weeks ago.

I am also sad to hear about Colleen. I am not a skinny woman but healthy as well and I really liked Colleen not being skinny like everyone else. She was a good actress as well.

As for the Nick, Sharon, Phyllis thing. I always wanted Nick and Sharon to get back together. I like Nick again since the accident. I hope they can get back together. I like Phyllis but not with Nick. I like her with Jack! And yes, I am very glad that Jack won the election. And as for Nikki, who knows what she is thinking. It has always been that Victor is her one true love and she can't stand to be without him but once she gets him and they are together for awhile, bam, either her or Victor one screws it up and finds someone else.

I would like to see Logan with Kane. I think they would make a good match.

Actually, on a lot of soap boards, the Amber thing seems to be 50/50. I'll admit, the first few months she was on, I got really annoyed by her, but now I actually enjoy her scenes at times. So, no, not everyone hates Amber.

I think it happened after the whole vault kiss with he and Sharon. Nick finally realized that she had moved on and so I think he was finally ready to meet Phyllis halfway about their relationship as well. When he did, he realized all the things that made him fall in love with her in the first place and he couldn't help falling in love with her again.

The "Out of the Ashes" storyline arc is definitely the best one for the show in many years! Kudos to everyone for making this week a "not-to-be-missed" week of shows! The acting has been amazing and great job on constructing such a realistic-looking set. I also have enjoyed how each day has focused on a different set of survivors among the rubble, so I'm betting we'll see Victoria and Professor Korbel today. Thumbs up all around! :clap:

I agree and one thing Ihat I have enjoyed is and it was every smart on their part was not giving next on the young and the restless until the end of thursday's show.

They did a helluva good job on this one superb acting if this storyline doesnt win the alot of daytime emmys I would be shocked.

I agree and one thing Ihat I have enjoyed is and it was every smart on their part was not giving next on the young and the restless until the end of thursday's show.

The only thing that I didnt like was all these times Jack's Dads Ghost has appeared to him just about at will giving him a hard time except for a few times.

and the one time he needs help from John Abbotts Ghost he wont help him or tell him how to get out of the wreckage even at near death his arch enemy Victor Newman rescues him

Victor always gotta be the big hero UGH!!!

I know... Victor always has to be the one to save the day! The fact that he saved Jack might bring some detente between the two, but not for long, as the rivalry between Jack & Victor is one of the storylines that propels the show forward!

So, has the end finally come for Jack's Senate seat? You would think that Jack would learn from his long list of past mistakes, but he still focuses on all the wrong things. Instead of trying to do what's right, he continues to show his naked aggression for Gloria, regardless what this might cost him. If he were smart, he'd try to make amends, but no, not Jack... can you imagine the scandal it would cause in real life if a senator called his former step-mother and widow of his father a "hooker" before a group of reporters during an ethics committee trial? Preposterous! :eek:

I have to say, I really enjoyed watching Gloria nail Jack to the wall during the ethics trial. Judith Chapman is so amazing in her over-the-top portrayal. Reading John's heart-felt letter to the committee, each word dripped venom from her lips and further tarnished Jack's already brassy reputation. Even Sharon realized through the rocks in her head that Jack would stop at nothing to get what he wanted, including doing harm to people he supposedly loved. Gloria might be an opportunistic gold digger and pathological liar, but she sure brings a great deal of fireworks to Y&R :lol:

And what about Victor brow-beating his estranged wife because he was nosy enough to read a letter in her personal belongings! This man is so abusive and mentally cruel toward women, he's Genoa City's answer to the Marquis de Sade! The show really needs to address his misogynstic relationships with all women, including his own daughter, as it really sends out the wrong kind of message. :eek: And what role, if any, did Victor play in Ji Min's murder?

How much do I love Lauren and Michael? Their relationship is so amazing and they truly are my favorite couple on the show. Perfect together, the chemistry they share is so credible. This is one couple I want to see stay together for the duration of the show! :clap:

The show has improved vastly in the past several months. I was beginning to worry for a while, as the show was really veering way off track. I'm happy the writers are finally getting it together and bringing Y&R back to its rightful position as the best soap on television! :)

I dont think Jack was right in doing his dad like he did but I am still a fan of his and John Abbott never was great at choosing mates and wives. Dina Mergeron wife 1 left him to raise all the kids Jack Ashley Tracy.Wife #2 Jill Foster Everybody knows of all her wickedness had to basically rape sex with John to get pregnant with billy to secure John couldnt divorce her and not get a dime from him.Wife #3 Gloria Fisher A Gold digging liar and murderer who will say anything or do anything to protect her butt to keep ppl from knowing she tampered with the cream that killed a woman in the midwest and brought dire financial problemsto John Abbotts company Jabot.

So Id say John wasnt the best at picking a mate and a wife and as far as all of Gloria being such a caring devoted wife just look at how insecure when john was rehabing at home a beautuful young qualified nurse which everybody evn kevin liked she schemed a plan with kevin to scare the woman out of leaving because of her jealousy of the nurse therapist and her great looks

So Gloria Fisher in my opinion may have won the battle with jack but he will win the war after Jeffrey Bardwell finds out Gloria tampered the cream and caused the death of the midwest woman she will go to prison like she deserves

I don't necessarily agree with what Jack did, but he DID do it for his family and his family name, and he knew that that gold-digger Gloria was no good for either, and he is right about that, IMO.

I don't know if I agree with that either. I haven't really seen much change, of what I have been watching of it.
