View Full Version : The Moderator Thread
KristinHerreraFan 02-07-2006, 09:49 PM Yeah um I'm very board  so I just decided to create a random thread :p. This is a thread for the moderators to post what board they moderate and other non-moderators can say, "OMIGOSH I WISH I WAS A MODERATOR!!" :p  ;)
EmoJoe 02-07-2006, 10:08 PM i wanna be a mod kinda but not really

EmoJoe 02-07-2006, 10:25 PM once upon a time there was a boy named joe. he wanted to be a moderator. so he PMed the adminstrator and said "can i be a moderator?". the adminsrator said "no, you are too young." then the stupid little dim-witted little boy wouldnt give up. so he pmed the administrator saying "can i be a moderator?". the admininstrator said "no." so then the idiot boy didnt give up. he said "CAN I BE A MODERATOR??!?!" and the admin said no. then the admin slapped joe with :racist: and sent his butt to greenland to go live with hillbillies. k story time is over bye
the whole thing is true except for the last part
MaydayMalonesGirl 02-07-2006, 10:34 PM I have no desire to be a moderator. Too lazy. Even though I don't think in being a moderator you'd have to do all that much.
EmoJoe 02-07-2006, 10:35 PM I have no desire to be a moderator. Too lazy. Even though I don't think in being a moderator you have to do all that much.yeahhh you dont really. especially if you moderate a dead board. if you mod an active board like CC you have to do a lot though
theshark8777 02-07-2006, 10:38 PM Janice is Queen of the Moderators!
Chad Michael Murray 02-07-2006, 10:39 PM I'd enjoy being a Mod.

Jo_Luvs_Ketchup 02-07-2006, 11:24 PM Yay a thread I can take part in! Moderator for all The Division boards!
Chelsea 02-07-2006, 11:31 PM Once upon a time, there was a boy that visited a message board. He got to be well known at the board, and after about a year, demonstrated the requisite maturity to be a mod, and so was granted moderatordom (word?). Time passes, as it so often does, and the moderator moderated - from time to time. And all was good.
Then one day, this kid got a copy of Ye Olde Photoshoppe. And it all changed. This kid, by then an adult in his late teens, began making graphics for the site. And reviewing DVDs. And occasionally doing other stuff. This kid took on more and more responsibility, until becoming an...Admin a few months later.
A year passes, and all goes well. Other than being a little overbearing at times, it was a good run. Unfortunately, he discovered that the administrator gig doesn't exactly...pay. So he began looking for some place that wanted his presence that was willing to pay him, so that he could buy iPods.
And one day, the kid got hired, due largely to his work on that site he'd started out on just over five years ago, to a Public Relations position. A PAID position. A job he would have never gotten...had he not become a moderator.
But there's one more detail from this tale, you see....that little boy was me.
Today I got hired to do PR work for a new online magazine - and it is most definitely a paid gig. And how did I get that work
PR Work for Mag --> Writing Press Releases for SO --> Being an SO Admin --> Being an SO DVD Reviewer -->Being the SO Graphic Designer --->Becoming a mod at SO
Had I not become a mod here all those years ago, I would probably be working your...usual...job for a college student (retail/restaurant/whatever)
Hollow 02-07-2006, 11:37 PM i wouldn't want to be a moderator; no more are necessary and i have too much of a life now to have enough time for it. as jeff stated a while ago, most people seem to want to be a moderator just for the sake of being one, not because of any reasons why they think the board is in jeopardy and want to help, etc. being one doesn't make you any more superior to anyone else.
Superstar 02-08-2006, 04:20 AM Me = Mod for That's So Raven, Charmed, What I Like About You and TSR Fan Fiction.
gilligan fanatic 02-08-2006, 11:45 AM I have no desire to be a Moderator. All the boards where just TJ moderates that I go to nothing ever bad happens so it would be useless for me to be one.
EmoJoe 02-08-2006, 03:56 PM being one doesn't make you any more superior to anyone else.
apparently, some people dont understand that though...
robyrob 02-08-2006, 03:59 PM apparently, some people dont understand that though...

Stormtracker TF 02-08-2006, 04:34 PM but this is basically a thread for mods to gloat lol
Yeah, it's stupid.
Oh, and I moderate three different boards. :D :D :D
KristinHerreraFan 02-08-2006, 04:53 PM Look, I know this thread is stupid, but as I told you, I was bored and couldn't think of anything to make a thread about.
Johnny S 02-08-2006, 05:14 PM Seth I liked your story... It is so suspensful, and you can't tell where it is going. Awww... Inspiring!
Congrats on all your sucess by the way..
EmoJoe 02-08-2006, 05:18 PM Look, I know this thread is stupid, but as I told you, I was bored and couldn't think of anything to make a thread about.

Stormtracker TF 02-08-2006, 06:16 PM Look, I know this thread is stupid, but as I told you, I was bored and couldn't think of anything to make a thread about.
I was being sarcastic.
An 80s Guy 02-08-2006, 08:41 PM I asked TJ about the GAB forum he hasn't answered yet
ekkostar 02-08-2006, 09:32 PM Actually, I can imagine that Sitcoms Online would be a boring forum to moderate. It's been dead for a year or two without much activity, even on the Current Sitcoms subjects.
If a mod called in sick, then I would gladly fill in.
As long as it isn't during a weekday. I have to work.
Nights are fine, but only until 8 or so.
Weekends aren't good either.
Other than that, I'm there!
;)
