rjb182 01-23-2006, 09:31 PM I've always loved Looney Tunes. My favorites are Wile E. Coyote, Marvin the Martian, Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, and Speedy Gonzalez.
Probably the flat-out coolest cartoon series ever.

tv star collector 01-24-2006, 09:02 AM Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies cartoon shorts brought a lot of happiness and
hilarious moments to many generations of people. The fact that it has been a
staple of television programming for decades (not to mention the prime-time
ABC series THE BUGS BUNNY SHOW and several seasons on Saturday morning
on both ABC and CBS; and all the prime-time TV specials) is proof that it
deserves a spot on the message boards. Heck, the Looney Tunes gang
practically invented situation-comedy!
TVFactFan 01-24-2006, 01:56 PM Did it make me a weird child that I liked all the bad looney toons?-lol
Slyvester
Yosimite Sam
Wild E Coyote
Daffy Duck
Pepe Lepew
tv star collector 01-24-2006, 08:14 PM Bugs was funniest when he was (in his words) "a stinker."
Jenya 01-24-2006, 10:45 PM I have transfered The Golden Age of Looney Tunes Volume 1-4 Laserdiscs to DVD. Some of those cartoons are pretty controversial like "Herr Meets Hare" and "Bugs Bunny Nips The Nips".

Was the Looney Pepe Lepew Controversial?
Jenya 01-24-2006, 11:30 PM Was the Looney Pepe Lepew Controversial?
I don't know. I have the first cartoon of him, though. In it his name was "Henry" (Not Pepé Le Pew). He was first introduced in a 1945 cartoon called "Oder-Able Kitty". :)
musicradio77 01-25-2006, 12:39 AM I got all 3 volumes. They did a great job on them. Porky is my favorite. You can't dislike Porky.
I have volume 2 of the "Golden Collection" except volume 1 of the "Spotlight Collection". I would get both volumes 1 and 3 of the "Golden Collection" soon.
musicradio77 01-25-2006, 12:45 AM i loved the episode "Duck Dodger's In The 24th In A Half Century" hahahaha porky was hilarious in that one
Yep! That cartoon was from the "Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie" directed by the late Chuck Jones. In 1981, Daffy and Porky returned for the sequel called "Duck Dodgers And The Return Of The 24th In A Half Century". It was not a theatrical short, it was a made-for-TV short as featured on the TV special "Daffy Duck's Thanks For Giving".
Lexx82 01-25-2006, 02:01 AM hey i have a question....i dont really remember a valentine's day or halloween looney tunes short...was there any??
also...remember that one of bugs bunny and that lil "Alien" look a like guy and those 2 are on the airplane...and bugs keeps tripping on the banana peels lol and they both lose control of the airplane and the airplane is crashing down hahaha and both look like thier about to throw up...or was it just bugs?? newayz thats 1 of the best ones..is that on vol 3? becuz i have vol 1 & 2 and it isnt there
tv star collector 01-25-2006, 09:32 AM On Oct. 26, 1977, CBS aired BUGS BUNNY'S HOWL-OWEEN SPECIAL, which was
comprised of "Bedeviled Rabbit" and "Rabbit Every Monday" and clips from eight
other cartoons, incl. "Beep Beep," "Canned Feud" and Trip for Tat." It was
repeated five times on the network.
BUGS BUNNY'S VALENTINE TV special aired on CBS for the first time on Feb. 14,
1979. In the unusual role of "cupid," Elmer Fudd strikes love into the heart
of Bugs Bunny, who experiences the fresh bloom of romance through a series
of classic Warner cartoons, complete and edited, strung together in one
common theme.
In fact, Bugs starred in at least 14 prime-time TV specials in the 1970s and
1980s, on the CBS network. All of these shows combined classic and new
animation (sometimes seamlessly, sometimes not so seamlessly). For
example: in BUGS BUNNY'S MAD WORLD OF TELEVISION, it is pretty obvious
where they substitute (in Porky's dialogue) the words "TV quiz show" for
"radio quiz show."
But, to answer your question, I can't think of a specific theatrical short that
was tied to either holiday.
Brian Damage 02-05-2006, 03:28 PM Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny were my favorites.

I have a "Looney Tunes" video I picked up while on vacation in Las Vegas a few years ago while at a local gift shop at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. I picked up a video containing seven Looney Tunes cartoons including the one you mentioned "Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips" (released 1944) where Bugs attacks Japanese forces and I wasn't offended at all. I thought it was hilarious! I also heard when Turner found out about the 'mistake', the videos I assume were recalled and they were re-released without that specific cartoon.
Could you provide a summary of "Herr Meets Hare", Jenya? Thanks! :)

I don't have any of the DVDs yet, they are kind of expensive. I think around $49! they do need a forum for looney tunes, I would be a regular if they had it. Bugs of course is my favorite character....he is my all-time favorite cartoon character of all time. Nobody could match wits with him. And the looney tunes humor is different like no other humor in cartoons. No other cartoon is on the same level with looney tunes. My worse looney tune character is Foghorn Leghorn. he is annoying, and he bores me just about as much as The Road Runner shorts bore me.
I was watching Bugs Bunny's 1001 rabbit tales earlier today. It just made me realized how much I miss Looney Tunes on tv. I remember Cartoon Network use to show "June Bugs" every June for 48 hours that first weekend. they suck now.

Agreed!
I love Bugs Bunny when he is driving the other characters (i.e. Yosemite Sam, Daffy, etc) crazy and to the edge. There was one I will NEVER forget, where Yosemite Sam has to go like 48 hours WITHOUT losing his temper before he'll get rich and Bugs does everything in the book to push him over the edge. It's a riot-lol

That was one of my favorite episodes, Jeff. LOL What about the one when Yosemite Sam had to marry that Big mean woman to get $1,000,000?! She had a big son that was bigger than her!
JeffRuss1972 03-05-2006, 04:30 PM LOL I don't remember that one, but it sounds HILARIOUS. Not sure why, but Yosemite Sam's temper ALWAYS makes me laugh. U know that character had HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE-lol I remember when he was trying NOT to blow his top, he ran into a closet and "cussed"(a'la cartoon style) up a storm, then came out smiling. Also, when Bugs was taking too long in the bathroom, he was going to charge in the door, but Bugs had cut a hole in the floor and put a rug over it. When Yosemite tripped and went through he fell like 30,000 feet, CUSSING ALL the way DOWN-lol I LMAO

That would be my all tiem favorite and one of the most underrated opnes..Friz Freleng's "From hare to heir" [9/2/60],Sam as a Lord Fauntleroy spoilt brat in medieval Englan d who Bugs is (in the "Daffy's Fnastic Island" 1983 framework, due to Sire Sam's being an heir with a just deceased eccentric rich uncle) monitoring by agreement with Sam to make sure he's calm (at the end, Sam CAN keep his temper.. but...HAS he won the money or blown it--in case it's already on DVD, I'll just let others fill in, I';ve seen it so many times..funny thing is, "What'sOpera" is al;ways cited as funniest yet many Yosemuite Sam shorts of this time are much funnier..)
[PS and it was Sam not BUGS who cut that hole..]

An excerpt from the new book THE MAGIC BEHIND THE VOICES by Tim Lawson &
Alisa Persons (2004): "While [Mel] Blanc was practicing Sam's voice driving down Santa Monica Boulevard, someone cut him off. Blanc immediately retaliated at the top of his lungs and was amused to realize that 'loud and
raucous' was the right attitude for Sam. However, while recording in the studio,
the volume and gruffness left him so hoarse at times that his lines had to be
separated to allow him to rest between takes."
