Cruise ‘South Park’ Show Censored
By WENN|Thursday, January 19, 2006
HOLLYWOOD - Tom Cruise has reportedly stopped an episode of South Park that mocks him from being aired in Britain.
The show, in which Nicole Kidman and Cruise's fellow Scientologist John Travolta are depicted attempting to coax an animated version of the actor out of a closet, caused controversy when broadcast in the U.S.
The cartoon Kidman tells Cruise, "Don't you think this has gone on long enough? It's time for you to come out of the closet. You're not fooling anyone"—referring to allegations about Cruise's sexuality.
According to TheRegister.co.uk, Paramount has agreed not to show the episode again, after Cruise complained.
A source tells the site, "Tom is famously very litigious and will go to great lengths to protect his reputation. Tom was said not to like the episode and Paramount just didn't dare risk showing it again. It's a shame that UK audiences will never see it because it's very funny."
what a freaking moron!!! it's South Park!!!! who haven't they made fun of? They've done worse with Robert Redford, Mel Gibson, Barbra Streisand, Paris Hilton, Jennifer Lopez, the Queer Eye For The Straight Guy cast, Christina Aguilera, and Michael Jackson and none of those episodes were banned. Yes, Comedy Central did pull the episode that ripped Christopher Reeve from the roster after the man died, but ripping on someone after they die isn't as comical as alive. If MJ died, the "Jeffersons" episode wouldn't be funny.
Of course, Tom couldn't stand to see a TV show actually put his brainwashed cult in the perspective of what 99% of the world sees Scientology as. The more Tom tries to sue over gay rumors only makes him look more gay, didn't Elton John once sue a tabloid for saying he was gay years ago? Just let the rumors be unless you're really hiding something because who in Hollywood hasn't been rumored to be gay at one point?
The "Trapped In The Closet" episode was hysterical, a rip on Scientology, Cruise, Travolta as well as the R. Kelly videos, too bad Tom has too big a stick up his ass to realize it's satire. Did you see Barbra Streisand suing for them to not show her as an evil robot creature intent on destroying the world?
