Do you think they are good or bad? My cousin met a girl on Match.com and now they are getting married. Me personally though, I guess I'm a little old fashioned. I use to like to meet people face to face.

I guess if that's how people want to date, but I wouldn't date someone I met online. That's the thing with computers, someone could say they're someone they're not...

Can't always meet your soulmate where you live. For all you know, your soulmate could live in a totally different state. And I'd rather date someone I met online than go to a bar anyday.

To each his own though.

I don't take dating services seriously. Probably because it's so many profiles, how can you?-lol

I think their ridiculous, you could be talking to a potential ax murderer. Besides, you can't establish a good relationship with someone you can't see.

The chances of that happening though, I think, are just as likely as meeting somebody at a nightclub, then going home with them and suffering the same fate.

I think they are dangerous.

I think they can be pretty cool. Iv'e been a member of a few, infact, I probably still am, and Iv'e had both good and bad experiences. I think alot of it depends on which dating site you choose. Unfortunately with some dating sites, if you sign up for one, they end up automatically signing you up for about 10 others. That's probably the biggest con to joining. I think if someone is going to join, E Harmony is probably your best, and safest bet. Even if it does take 5 hours to fill out those damn personality profiles.

My uncle met his new wife at, I think, E Harmony. I don't know if it'll last. 7 kids in a four bedroom house, now a six bedroom house, plus it's a really small house, but it seems to have worked for a lot of people.

Well, I think these websites are typically used so that you can find people that live near you, so that you can potentially go out with them. My brother has done this a few times.

And you could be talking to an axe murderer here too. o_O

Bah, I have. :)

But whatever floats your boat.

Unless there's anybody like that in your hometown, I think it's a wise idea to RUN to the nearest dating website ASAP!

I think they can be very helpful. I met my husband through one and my brother met his wife through one and neither one of our spouses are ax murders. I think it's one of the best ways to meet people who share your interests. You just have to be very careful.

I think it's a good idea. My husband's best friend met his wife that way five years ago.

I think that if someone really can't find someone in real life, they can try an online dating site. I'll probably be doing that when I'm older.....

like Cathy said, to each his own. I met Jonathan on line (sorta kinda... mutual friends of ours gave me his screen name... i'm a dork)... *SO* i did have the reassurance that he wasn't an ax murderer. But I think they can be good for some people.

The most annoying thing about Internet dating services is when someone sends you a message and they have no phot in their profile. damm I hate that

Well in that case, yeah. You should at least see a person before you decide if you might want to date them or not. Of course they could still put up a pic of their hot best friend, but whatever.

At least then, if you show up and the guy/girl winds up looking like Rocky from the movie "Mask", you can always ditch 'em by the roadside and steal their cell phone to give that hot friend a call.

I think it's a good idea for some people. I personally don't like the idea much, but that's just me. I'm old fashioned I guess, but there's nothing new there...

Would be kinda funny to meet your soulmate on the internet and one day tell your kids when they asked how their parents met that it was on the internet.

Watch, they'll be like, the internet was on the computer?! What's a computer? Cuz the net will be, like, plugged into your brain or something.
