Hi its Laura , just thought i would mention something .Has anyone noticed in the above mentioned episode that in the scene where david and maddie are looking through the cab logs and the particular part in the evening when maddie finally finds the farethat have been looking for and goes over to where david is sleeping on the couch and she wakes him up ,well if you look closely when david wakes up and goes to grab the log book that maddie is holding up in front of him instead of taking hold of the book he takes hold of maddies hand holding the book and actually moves his hand along to get a really good grip of her hand and maddie doesnt seem uncomfortable by it at all in fact she lets david do this for quite sometime. Now i wonder if that was in the script or was that a bruce and cybill intimate moment.
Now if you watch closely enough nearly all of the episodes even from seasons 4 and 5 have little pockets of touchy feelly moments between bruce and cybill . If any one else has spotted this and has more examples then please add them to this thread. Thanks

Season 2, "Twas the Episode Before Christmas" If you watch the part at the end as B and C are walking out of "the office" to start singing with the staff and crew, they're holding hands. Ok, fine, but they're holding hands with fingers interlaced. (Ya know, like lovers do, not friends.) I can't imagine the script was so detailed as to specify HOW they should hold hands. I think they must have added that themselves.

I just watched that ep a couple of weeks ago and found that very interesting too. I agree, I bet they added it themselves :) And ya know, if it was in the script, it seems odd considering their relationship at that point. I mean, the kiss was under the mistletoe, so that was the built in excuse for that. But, what's the reason for them continuing the lovey-doviness? Hmm...

I swear he "tweaks her butt" in Perfetc. It's the scene in the museum when they are talking to the curator, right before the painting is smashed over their heads.

Also, that scene in "In 'n Outlaws" on the couch sure is interesting.;)
By the way, the woman "hangin' from the ceiling" is wearing orange Reeboks, isn't she?

How about the dance scene in When Girls Collide? I know, I know - it's hard to watch the entire episode, but the dancing between BW and CY sure is EXTREMELY CLOSE.

The scene in Eine Kleine where Maddie and Agnes find David and you-know-who in the room - Cybill ends up on BW's back - he actually rubs his body back and forth with her on his back - the look on her face is priceless when she gets off.

The tender kiss on the cheek in Eine Kleine, and then he says "see ya later", not "see you tomorrow".

This is why I find season 5 better than season 4. It's the "special, interesting moments" that I love.

Another big one:

Father Knows Last

WHEN DOES DAVID ADDISON EVER ASK MADDIE HAYES TO MARRY HIM? That scene was soooooooo believeable that it gave me chills.

Hi its Laura again ,heres another one for you .In the episode Those Lips Those Lies,in the scene where daves brother richie is talking Maddie in to investigating Benny Largo and the particular scene where maddie goes back into her office and sits down and david follows her and sits down next to her and is saying that she is a soft touch etc. He slides himself right up close , so close infact that when Richie walks in and David and Maddie swing round i swear that their legs are intertwined and hes got his hand on her thigh ,now i dont see any reason for that to be in the script do you!

Ooooooh Laura, you and I definitely think alike.

Those Lips Those Lies is one of my favorite Moonlighting episodes. I feel the same way about that particular scene that you do - they were definitely intertwined!!! I love it when he looks directly in her eyes and says "... a sucker".
PLUS check out the dance scene when they play "It's In His Kiss". That is definitely an interesting way to do the Cha Cha. His arm rubs her chest and he actually looks down.
PLUS, check out the end of the dance with Richie (miss you Charlie). Cybill runs her hand ever so slightly down Charlie's arm - BW looks directly at Cybill's face with a strange kind of look - shall I dare say it? of jealousy IMO. Plus that entire dance scene with Charles Rockett always intrigued me - it looks to me like they were dancing and he was positioning her in front of a monitor so when Charlie was supposedly talking about Rita, he was actually having Cybill look at the monitor picture of herself.

I love Those Lips Those Lies.

All of the ML episodes directed by Dennis Dugan were quite interesting.

That's why I was so excited when BW hired Dennis Dugan to direct one of his movies that he was producing several years ago (maybe "Ace In The Hole"?). The movie fell through, but at the time, I was sooooooooooooo excited that they were going to be working together again.

Plus, several years ago, I swear I read that BW said that he had tried directing during Moonlighting. Which scenes/episodes were directed by him? I dunno. Maybe he did the couch scene?!;)

I forgot to mention why the dance scene with Richie and then David caught my attention so deeply - David/Bruce goes and holds Maddie/Cybill's hand after the dance with Richie - it's only a finger or two but it made me jump up - hey, since when in season 5 do David and Maddie hold hands? They're PALS or business partners or whatever they claimed to be at the time.

That entire episode was filled with stuff that caught my attention.

Yeah your right he is holding her hand. Right heres another one.
In the episode And The Flesh Was Made Word. in the scene nearly at the end when they are confronting "juliet" back at her house , and whenshe pulls out a gun,David and maddie thinking that its to shoot them both duck down to avoid it ,well if you notice david is behind maddie in this scene and so when they do duck down her rear end is literally in his face and he places his hands smack dab on it to keep his balance.I mean its not really a bigy but it is another example of just how relaxed and unphased they were about touching each others bodies ( just like lovers ).We all know that it was only a tv show when it came to the characters david and maddie but it was and still is bruce and cybills relationship that intriged me and those little off camera moments just proved it!
Heres a little after thought too but it dawned on me that cybill named her twin son Zach and David Addisons character in the Dream Sequence was also called Zach too!. I wonder?

They were very natural with each other from the beginning.

A little off the topic but not really: I was watching a TV show the other day. A major actress and actor were kissing (I can't remember the who/what/where about either of them - a small but important point by the way). I had to close my eyes when they were kissing because it was so unbelieveable. This was supposed to be a HOT couple and the kiss seemed so fake to me that I had to close my eyes. When Bruce and Cybill were together, when they walked and talked and bantered and fought, and especially when they kissed, it all seemed like it was SUPPOSED to happen - that their kisses came from their souls, not from some script. She has said more than once that when they first met, it was ELECTRIC, and it was obvious to me.

I love to watch them together - the only time I closed by eyes was when I watched season 5. When it re-aired on Lifetime circa 1990, I could only listen to the season 5 episodes, not watch them. BUT it was then that I HEARD a line that stopped me in my tracks. It was a line said by David/Bruce about Maddie/Cybill.

"...the most drop-dead gorgeous broad I've(I'd?) ever seen in my REAL life."

It was a line in Plastic Fantastic Lovers and it changed the way I looked at all of Moonlighting. That line made me say to myself "Hey, wait a minute! What if...?"

What if?!

I know its a little off the thread here , but.Thats another thing that gets to me is that it is always Cybill that does the talking for both of them. Why is Bruce so cagey about this whole off screen relationship debate i mean he has never said anything not even when Cybills book came out with the revelation of the Lazee-Boy incident, well not to my knowledge
Back to the topic in hand though, im sat here thinking and i remember something about Symthony in a knocked flat . If you look close enough and freeze frame it, in the fight scene at the end when David/Bruce gets knocked out of the ring for the second time `i think?`and when Maddie/Cybill is dragging David/Bruce back up the stairs to the ring and when she lifts/throws him back over the ropes , see where her hand is- RIGHT BETWEEN HIS LEGS ,right by his you know whats!!!

To me he has always seemed uncomfortable with the romantic part of the show. When he talks at all, it's usually about the jokes. Listen to the commentary he did on the Season 2 DVD and see what I mean.

Hi its Laura maybe we should have another thread about this as well-Headed `all the reasons we think on why doesn`t Bruce ever talk about their relationship? And if they did have one then why didn`t it work out .

kismet
01-18-2006, 08:40 PM
As far as I know, Bruce does not discuss his private life PERIOD! He has always been extremely closed about it.

One of the few things I have heard him say is that he does not like to have the ones closest to him touched AT ALL.
He used to say in the late 80's/early 90's that the reason he had bodyguards was to protect others from him, not the other way around.

I'm trying to rack my brain thinking of things that might be of interest but it's so hard because he rarely talks about himself, except when it comes to his acting.

MulberryGal
01-19-2006, 10:14 AM
Kis is quite right, Bruce doesn't talk about his private life whether its past or present. I think its because when he was first famous with ML, there was a huge amount in the tabloid newspapers about his every waking moment, all kinds of stuff got reported, both true and false, he didn't get much privacy and that is still true to some extent. He is quite happy to talk about acting or the films/TV he does, but he is very guarded otherwise, and very protective of his kids most of all. Which is fair enough.

Cybill has always been happy to talk about her life, she's just that kind of person, very open about her personal life it seems. She's spoken about stuff like Elvis and Bruce even before her wonderful book came out! ;)

As far as the wonderful chemistry they shared on ML, part of it is mutual attraction, part of it is darn good acting and writing, and the rest is sheer magic.

I guess I was talking more about the relationship between David and Maddie. I understand why BW wouldn't talk about his private life, but I don't think he even likes talking about the romantic aspect of the show, which was THE thing everyone was watching, of course!! ;)

I wonder if its linked? I remember when I first listening to the commentary of My Fair David, each time the other chap (can't remember which one it was, was it Glenn Caron?) mentioned the wonderful chemistry between them, Bruce didn't comment at all, but he'd comment on how gorgeous Cybill looked, or the way the lighting was done or the jokes etc...

Just a thought!

I just love it, love it, love it.

Hi its laura Who`da thunk it hey talk about letting the cat among the pigeons!
Yeah and your right too about her getting pregnant around that time. Fair enough bruce doesn`t like to discuss his private life ,we`re not asking for every intimate detail .Cybill was and is always saying how sexy and handsome and cute and how attracted she was to him that it would have been nice to hear bruce return some of the compliments.
But having said that i was watching some of the interview clips on the davidandmaddie sight and something caught my attention . It was on Good Morning America and it was the one from the BelAir hotel where they where filming an episode ,anyway the topic like it always did turned to the subject of bruce and cybills off screen relationship and the interviewer asked them if they would ever act on their attraction in real life .Well cybill gave her usual answer of no they woudnt be and then bruce agreed and said "no can`t do that "but then he turns and looks at at Cybill and gives her such a wicked and `knowing`grin . Dont you think so too?

Now you`ve done it Kizmet now im gonna have to talk about that now , right lets analize it , For him to even go round to her apartment ment that he planned to go through with IT So picture the scene they`re both interlocked in this VERY lusty embrace with clothes coming off and everything and things are REALLY getting up to the point of no return but suddenly bruce stops and has second thoughts YEAH RIGHT! when the blood starts to head south of the belt buckle most men are not thinking with their heads (if you know what i mean `wink, wink`

When I watch any video clips on my computer, they come across as a series of individual pics instead of a smooth video. I can hear it perfectly, but I just can't watch them the correct way. Does anyone else have that problem?

Hi Kizmet I think you were looking at the wrong interview ,its the other one with the guy doing the interview and bruce and cybill are dressed in character i think they had been filming Every Daughters Father Is A Virgin to find it you have to go into the big bang discussion section and then click on the bit where it says cast and crew comments on them doing it ,before and after. then click on the top clip for GMA with David Hartman.

Hi kismet, Well my husband is a bit of a computer nut and he`s got all the latest Microsoft graphic hardware and software so yeah on my pc the pictures are quite clear and smooth running ,not tv quality but more like a very watched video tape quality. But you can see him give that famous half smirk alright. And Cybill looks at him and grins back ! And look closely on where Cybill is resting her arm when she`s holding her ear piece in too , the two of them looked very cosy together

kismet

I did notice that she rested her arm on his for most of the interview. I thought it was interesting because he is left-handed and he couldn't use that arm when talking.

Can anyone name a TV show in which the two stars were so physically at ease with each other, another show in which the two stars were literally joined from the shoulders down in almost every scene? I can't remember any. Those two never stopped touching.

CyBr

I remember another scene. It's probably more of a David and Maddie thing than a Bruce and Cybill one. But in "Between a Yuk and a Hard Place", when they find out that the guy killed his wife, David grabs Maddie's hand as they start to get up. But they keep talking to the guy and keep holding hands! I thought that was really cute, especially since it was right after Maddie lost the baby and they had trouble talking about it. I hope I'm remembering this right.

I think someone mentioned this before but i`d like to point it out again for those living on mars and may not have seen it Ha Ha. Its from to Heiress Human again and its the morning after the night before and David and Maddie are lying in bed having just woken up when he pulls her in closer he puts his hand right on her pregnant belly ,sort of cups it in his hand he then goes on to try and nibble at her shoulder before the scene changes to Maddie sitting up in bed.Now i know that the script probably said to hold her in his arms and pull her in but i think it was really sweet and tender in the way that he placed his hand over the twins with his whole hand sorta stretched out ,kinda stroking her belly.Soo sweet!

I remember that one too. It came immediately to my attention that they were holding hands - Cybill seemed a little surprised to be honest. At the end of the balloon scene, they kind of roll around on the ground in a nice cuddle also.

They were always so at ease with each other. This physical freedom seems at odds with the constant "fight and flee" mode that we heard was constantly going on. It surely didn't seem that most of the time that they hated each other. Quite the opposite IMO.

An example of another couple on the TV at the same time would be Diane and Sam in Cheers. You didn't see any of the naturalness between them that you saw between Bruce and Cybill. Sure, they got together for a kiss or two, they were very funny, but they rarely touched or even came within a foot of one another. You certainly didn't feel the passion - I know it was a sitcom, but it didn't come close to what Bruce and Cybill were giving us. The second you saw Maddie meet David, you just knew that those two were meant to be together.

This isn't a touchy-feely example. but it always interested me. In Take My Wife, For Example, they talk about what they don't like about one another:

Maddie says that David kisses too hard.
David says that Maddie doesn't give good (or any) presents.

I always felt that the writers reversed what real life was like:
I think Bruce kisses great.
Cybill gives great presents. Does anyone else here remember what great present Cybill gave Bruce when Moonlighting started?

That definitely caught my attention also. But, do you think she seems a little upset when he touches her belly? or do you think she acted like she liked it? I think she seems a little annoyed (or was it worried?;) ) and he seems like he is thoroughly enjoying himself.

It always interested me that he sings "a double shot of my baby(baby's?) love". You could take that two ways. Two times of fun, or two babies, if you catch my drift. I wonder if Glenn did that to keep the audience guessing.

I was just looking through some of the old magazine articles of bruce and cybill on the web site and im thinking that the two Bruces in Cybill life were similar in the looks department ,they both had the same kinda hair and sorta the same facial bone structure.Maybe the second lesser known Bruce was a substitute for the one she really wanted.
Going back for a minute to our original thread of touchy feelly moments between Bruce and Cybill, Idliked to point out the 2nd lot of bloopers that were put in at the the end of (correct me if im wrong) Shirts & Skins . I liked the blooper from the Colour Of Maddie when Bruce keeps fluffing his line up ,he then starts laughing and then reaches over and gives Cybill a great big hug. Then theres the other one from Plastic Fantastic Lover in which Bruce is trying to say the line "some clown with a dicky face " and he keeps getting tongue tied ,after about the 3rdr 4th attempt they both start to grin and laugh and then Bruce brings his face up close to Cybills as if to kiss her.Now these are all good Bruce and Cybill moments because they have come out of character

Ive just finished watching Perfect again (i had to go back and check with the butt tweaking thing) and OMG YOUR RIGHT he does ,as he comes around behind Maddie to stand next to her, his hand sorta swings out and pinches her bottom,i dont think that was in the script because, A there was no reason for it and B Cybill seemed to jump with surprise. I had to watch that particular scene over a few times just to be sure and its there alright. Maybe Bruce was feeling a bit frisky/horny that day ! Ha Ha. Its amazing what you can miss ,i have watched that episode so many times too . Thanks Kismet.
