This one dude, I met in fifth grade. He was my best friend at the time. We were like brothers. We did everything together. Ate lunch, partnered up when doing special things, everything. I transferred out of the school and didn't see him until two years later in middle school. We picked up where we left off, but in the middle of that year, he became distant. He started hanging with other people. That's cool, but we WERE tight. Even his cousin asked why we weren't hanging. Came 8th grade, we were in different sections, so we didn't see one another until school was done for the day. When we did meet, it was like, "What's up?" and we hung with other people. Came high school, we were in diferent schools and we seen one another occasionally. Then, when we both graduated from High school, we bumped into each other again, and exchanged numbers. I was excited because I always considered him my best friend of all time. When I called him, he didn't have much to say other than how are things going. Everytime I called, he had limited conversation, and always had to hang up. The final straw was when I called him and he told me he was on a long distance call. I knew he was lying and didn't want to be bothered, so I never called or heard from him in 10 years. I just let things be. We all have to get on with our lives, but I always thought friendship was the most strongest thing behind family.

I had a best friend in grade school. We did everything together. One year, he moved away and I thought that was the end of the friendship. A few months later, he moved back and we resumed the friendship. One day, he said hewanted to have a party and asked me if I could help him invite some people. I did. The day of the party, I asked him for directions to his new house. He rushed me off the phone, saying he had to go that guests were arriving. He hung up on me without giving me the directions to his house. I never heard from him again.

Childhood friendships are always a touchy subject. Things are usually always happening (growing up, shifting from levels of education of elementary, junior high and high school), new schools, levels of interests, etc. There is always a shift of change happening during these years. I heard this is very common, but I do see it can be frustrating at the same time.

Some childhood friendships were probably only meant to be "only" childhood friendships. I have come across a cople of required schooling friends on-and-off. We bump into each other from time to time. We greet each other and catch up on each other's lives. We usually say, "we gotta get together," but it never happens because of our busy lives. Even if we don't contact one another as often, we still remember one another in our hearts. Now, these are childhood/high school friends I am talking about. It seems I take less offense of these friends more so than current/out of school friendships.

Maybe along the line you may bump into each other or contact each other and then pick up from there? It can be possible, but don't be totally dependent on it; otherwise, it can lead to be disappointing.

Ten years ago i had a large group of friends I hung around with on a regular basis. Over the years, some of them got married and settled down, others simply drifted away because of careers or lifestyle change.

I just got word that a friend of mine got engaged over the holidays. This is a person who I used to spend lots of time with when I first moved to New York. But over the years, she got really busy with her job, started travelling alot on business, and she just stopped hanging around with us. I occasionally run into her, but I can't remember the last time that happened.

It's a bit sad, but that's how things turn out sometimes.

I think that happens with a lot of people. I don't know too many adults who still have the same friends that they had in Elementary school. I certainly don't. Lost touch with them mainly because as we grew older our interests began to differ. It would be nice to have had at least one close friend all throughout childhhood that lasted into adulthood but it just didn't happen.

It happens to everybody. I don't have any connection at all with anybody I was friends with as a child or with anybody I went to school with. As I grew older I knew I had developed a whole slew of different interests that would not cater to most small town teens. Even by high school I was pretty much a loner because I could no longer relate to small town life or the kids in my school. I considered them dull so maybe it was my fault a little bit. I drove an hour away to the city and made friends there in clubs and places.

Even as an adult I don't find myself with a lot of friends. Most adults are tied down with work, marriage, and kids.

I've lost all my friends. Because apparently people hate me.

Well okay, not all of them, but most. One who sounds very similar to your friend, Kool.

Wake up and smell the coffee... Most times, friendships will end the way you least expected it. Or did it only happen to me? The closer we were when the friendship begun, the more distant we were when it ended.

My neighbor next door was my best friend from the time we were about 3 years old. We were always together because we lived right next door. I never really grew as close to any other friend as I had to her. But by the time middle school started, it just went all downhill. She...I don't want to say ditched me, maybe just got sick of me. She started to hang out with other people and I guess I just wasn't "cool" enough for her anymore. The official end of the friendship came 3 years ago in 8th grade, because before that it was just all going downhill. It even started to involve our parents, who were (and sort of still are) friends as well. Phone calls and all this ****. I think that's when I started missing school in 8th grade. Probably at least once a week at one point. Hit depression and everything. I can't say it's all from that, but I know losing a huge chunk of my life when she dropped me had some part to do with it.

So I made friends with the only people I knew besides her. One of them I knew in elementary, and she's my best friend now. It's a shame I can't stand her. But these people were all I had to go to. And I thought I liked her, but lately...well, for the past year...I just can't ****ing stand her and her attitude. I'm scared of going through the same war type thing that happened three years ago. But I just don't like to be around this girl anymore.

I love my social life.

I had a best friend that I met in school in the fourth grade. I can't recall how we became so close but we were. We did everything together, confided in each other. We were inseparable. Then, when we graduated from junior high, she was continuing on to private high school. Not me. I had had it with private school and I wanted to be liberated from private school and experience public school. Well, because of that, we distanced ourselves from each other and never saw or spoke again. I did contact her abt six years later and we talked for a little bit and again, poof, nothing. Then, I kept having these dreams abt the fun times we had when we were teens. I decided to call her mom's house and I got in touch with her again and I told her that I really missed our friendship. But I guess we had grown and I had my own friends and she discovered new friends and that was it. I don't think I will pursue that friendship again. It hurts because we had such good times.

Yeah that's pretty much my whole life.

In fourth grade, my best friend's name was Megan. We were inseparable. She came to Florida with us in the summer after 8th grade...Then once high school started, she pretty much forgot I existed. She was a cheerleader and she got new friends and started drinking and whatnot and we weren't friends anymore. We saw each other at church, but that was about it. As of lately, we're becoming a lot closer than before...I don't even know why, but I'm not complaining. She's moving to Florida in August though, so whatever.

Then in 7th grade I became friends with 3 girls and I thought we were all best friends...We did everything together. We went to concerts all the time and had sleepovers and whatnot and I thought we were close....But then like...last year I think it was...it all changed. I don't even know what happened. I still don't. I've asked them to explain it to me, and I get nothing. But for some reason, they decided that I wasn't good enough anymore. The three of them are still best friends, but they completely ignore me now and only give me the time of day when it's necessary. I think about it everyday and it makes me sick to think I lost the three best friends I ever had, but they obviously don't care and have moved on.

Basically, my new years resolution was to let it all go....College is coming up and once I leave, I hope I make new friends and never see any of them ever again.

Sounds like my HS friends. We were tight in HS, but then college came. "J" and I became dorm roommates and we basically started to hate each other. "G" went to a different school and she and I became closer because we were both seriously homesick. "S" stayed in town. Well, "J" and I basically hated each other out of any decent friendship so when I transferred, I didn't see her much. "G" and I transferred to the same school where I developed a serious case of anxiety and depression and apparently that cramped her style and suddenly she stopped talking to me too. And "S" did just because "J" and "G" decided they hated me too.

Apparently they decided they suddenly didn't like my personality, despite the fact that outside of the anxiety/depression, which they didn't care to understand, I was the same girl I was in HS. And to think I tried to help that girl out of her homesickness depression. A lot of good it did me.
