I was never too crazy about seeing Janet, Jack, and Chrissy's parents on the show. To me it just took somethign away from the show when they came to visit. The parent I hated the most was Reverend Snow. Anyone else would have been happy if the Parents were not in the script?

I didn't mind seeing them. They should have just made one appearance.
Reverend Snow just kept coming back. It could have been worse you know. It could've been Jack's father with that dumb song.

I didn't like the parents being IN THE SCRIPT either, but I did like Reverend Snow, I didn't have a problem with him. But I remember one episode when other parents were IN THE SCRIPT when they thought the roommates were messing around with each other, I wasn't crazy about the parents. So I agree with you, I was happy when the parents were not IN THE SCRIPT

I wouldn't have liked it if they were regulars, but having just one guest appearance would have been fine. Although by introducing the parents, it does create the potential for plot holes later on. For example, if Janet's parents were introduced in one episode, then it makes you wonder why they were not present in the series' finale for such an important even like their own daughter's wedding.

I agree which is why Janet's parents shouldn't have never been in the script-lol

I agree with stella, one time is good to have them there, but more than that would get annoying. I did not mind Chrissy's dad, but her mom was annoying.

Probably because I'm a fan of Dick Shawn (the actor), he was a famous comedian back in the day.

I liked Reverend Snow but I didn't care for the rest of them.

Justin, you are not alone. "Sigh, sow, fly-dittle-dow!" I still sing that to annoy people :).

I seem to notice in almost any sitcom that intro'd a parent, that they are NEVER there for the big wedding episodes. Which to the casual viewer is nothing, but to a continuity guy like me just annoys.

Also re: the wedding. Notice that Philip's best man was the pretentious tennis snob who called the will reading a "grab bag"? haha.

Jack's Dad was pretty funny but I wasn't too thrilled to have him on there. John seemed a little uncomfortable around him...atleast to me he did. I wish they would have atleast had Jack's mom on there once. He only talked to her on the phone.

I think that Janet's parents shouldn't have appeared until the finale. That way Jack & Janet would've gotten together in the end

Jack and Janet were not meant to get together on the show. If they had been than the writers never would have created Vicki and Phillip.

The appearance of Janet's parents at the wedding wouldn't change anything.

Obviously Vicky wasn't either since that show didn't last much!!!

If the writers really wanted Jack and Janet to become a couple it would have been in kept in the script. but it wasn't. No amount of wishing and hoping is going to change it either. The show would have ended whether no matter who Janet and Jack ended up with because they were running out of ideas for episodes.

I agree! Jack leaves for a chef job in NYC, Terri goes to Hawaii, and Janet moves to Palm Springs to run a flower shop!

Yea the final season of TC had about the same ratings as TAC. The show was doomed anyhow because it was opposite The A-Team. If TAC was done today and it had those same ratings it would be considered a hit show.

personally i don't like watching any of their family members...terri's obnoxious parents and her little sister (a prize) or janet's parents or jacks father. i didnt actually mind reverend snow all that much, i dont love his presence by any means...

If they knew they were heading for a no-hit show then they should have just ended TC w/out going on to TAC.

Yea. I think the show would have caught on if it was given another season. It was paired with WTB and WTB didn't become a top 20 hit until its second year and it had about the same ratings as TAC did.. TAC was replaced by Growing Pains and that show ended that season in the top 20. So I think TAC could have caught on. At one time I remember our paper incorrectly saying the show had been renewed so it was very close to being picked up.

I think remember hearing that John Ritter was told that TAC would only be picked up for 13 eps for the 85-86 season and he felt that he was at a point in his career where he wanted a full season committment and decided to do other things.
