I so agree with you. They knew he would have a career in art. I agreed with JJ when he said that that information would not be useful in life ("is someone gonna say tell me what happened in 1066 or else I'll blow your brains out?") LOL! I think that Flo & James should have asked JJ a question which would be useful in life. Not some stupid history question that probably nobody knows. Damn!

the way JJ was and had been doing things, getting him to change his study habits and do senior year again, is a sure fire way to get him to not have any motivation.

I totally agree with you Brian, that's why there are a lot of illiterate adults today because when they were in High School they were just pushed through. There's no way I would let my children get pushed through in school. And wasn't Florida reading from a test that JJ had just taken? If so, then he should have known what happened in 1066 if he studied.

Just because a person has a talent doesn't mean that they shouldn't work hard when it comes to their education. Your education is a sure thing that you can always fall back on. I'm a college graduate also and I have the peace of mind in knowing that if I want to try something new in my life that I will always have my degree to fall back on.

The thing that made it so strange was Florida and James getting so bent out of shae over one F. It was possible to fail one test and still get a C in the Course for the entire semester-lol

I think the point that James and Flo was trying to make was that they didn't care where JJ was placed in his graduations class. When you graduate you have a rank or number. If you ever get a chance to look at your High School files you will see a number and that's where you placed in your class. So they didn't care if he was at the bottom of his class as long as he graduated the right way. They didn't want JJ handed something that he didn't work for. You can't get through life that way.

and bottom line, why wait so long to intervene? Also, if they really cared, they shouldn't allowed him to make that choice. James SHOULD HAVE MADE HIS ASS GO THRU THE ELEVENTH GRADE AGAIN. simple.

JJ repeating the 11th grade probably would make him learn something he didn't get the first time around, but it wasn't going to make him any more advanced than he already was. If the teaching was that bad that they pushed him thru, then, it could happen again.

I could see if JJ couldn't read or write very well, but he knew the basics. As for Keith, my point abt him was stating the obvious, he is a college grad and even with his great writing skills and other skills, he couldn't get a decent job. James' motto was JJ's art would get him outta the ghetto. If JJ could fill out a job application and read and write well, which obviously he could, then push him to attend junior college after high school and he could take the basic classes again.

Shoot, I would've been happy with all C's:lol: However, I think there are some students who expects to always maintain good grades. True story: High school, two incidents. First we had a test and she made a C. Keep in mind that she has always been an honor student. She made a C on a project and started crying in class. I looked at her and thought, "maybe she thought she was always perfect or something, or maybe her parents put that kind of pressure on her not to accept anything less than a B" That was the first and only time that I know a straight A student to cry because of a C.

Second story involves on of my best friends. During the 80's we were all sitting around playing Atari with his dad. So the dad ask Robert and I what we were doing after school. We both work, etc. Then he proceeds to say about David( my buddy). "Well it's either college or military for David or I'm going to choose onefor him". It seems that dad was in service and he pushed all of his sons to do the same thing. They did, but I can tell you David did not like it. LOL. He did his four years and said the hell with it.

I guess my point is that some parents try to push their kids into doing things the PARENTS want them to do. And look what became of it.

I guess they thought that he was a man and he could make his own decisions and hopefully he would make the right one. But a lot of times when you make a big gamble you lose.
