its pretty common in oriental cooking, but I've also had it in restaurants on the west coast - i dont have a problem with it.

I once made myself a bagel with creamcheese that turned out to be an interesting combination - i didnt find out until after I bit into it, that I had used smoked salmon-flavored creamcheese on a blueberry bagel. It was alright.

It doesn't get much more normal than fish and rice. Stuffed peppers with fish and rice is really good!!

That's not weird. Fish and refried beans...now that would suck.

I don't see anything wrong with it. But then again, I'll eat anything. I felt like it was a staple of Asian cuisine in many places. I also suppose it's how you prepare both the fish and the rice.

Well, why not? Fish is good for you....Breaded fish is not. That means no fishsticks with your rice. ;) So if you partook in a dish of fish and whole grain rice, you would be enjoying a healthful meal. :thumbsup:

Actually, yesterday I ate baked salmon served on a bed of saffron rice at Chilli's and it was quite tasty! :)

i still dont see what the big deal is - rice is a staple, it goes with anything; its not like its a weird combination or anything, I could understand it if you had tried say fish and glazed jelly donuts or something - now THAT would be a questionable combination (but I STILL wouldn't pass judgement on it until I tried it, and of course it depends on WHAT flavor jelly donut filling it is)

fish and rice is good together as long as it's the skinless type of fish. A greasy piece from Long John Silvers wouldn't be good in rice at all

I like WHITE RICE but not if I was having anything fish! (I love fish sticks (Havent had them since school lunches though))

Camerones Rancheros ( Ranch style shrimp) is delicious over white rice. It is a Mexican meal .The shrimp is stir fried in tomato ,onion, and other spices. You serve it over the white rice.

But regular dry fish with rice no! Fish goes with fried or baked potato.

When I used to get baked fish at Captain D's it came with rice, it was pretty good

I thought rice was a staple of chinese food so why wouldnt it go with fish

other than the color of the 2 for they are both white , I would easily eat fish and rice. I would put a bit of peas, broccoli on the side.

Sometimes at a chinese buffet some of my sweet and sour sauce gets mixed in with the rice..
