View Full Version : Marcia Brady...My First TV Crush
Dr. Thong 12-24-2005, 11:21 AM When I was eight years old, I looked at Marcia Brady (Maureen McCormick) a different way. I just knew that I wanted to be with her. No, not in that way - I was still a few years away from the hormones kicking in - but there was something about her that I really liked.
I realize now that Marcia Brady was my first TV crush. Kind of stupid, but it was the first of many. She would later be replaced by Marie Osmond, Charlie's Angels and many others. But you never forget your first TV crush.
Many years later, some punk band came out with a song that had the lyrics "I got my First Boner Watching Marcia Brady On A Black & White TV," so I guess I wasn't the only one. Had I been born two or three years earlier, that probably would have been the case with me as well.:D
MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!
My first TV Crush was Jan Brady. I was about 8 or 9 too. I wonder how many other people had crushes on members of the Brady Bunch?
Merry Christmas Dr. Thong

If I developed my first crush around the time of Free Willy, I would have had a painfully slow developmental process.:D
Redd Foxx 12-27-2005, 09:16 PM My first TV Crush was Kelly Kapowski.
Dr. Thong 12-28-2005, 12:42 PM My first TV Crush was Kelly Kapowski.
And I can see why.:D
Ohio8 06-23-2007, 11:35 PM My first TV crush was Pam Ferdin on "The Odd Couple."
My brother had a crush on Marcia too. I think I'll bring this up the next time I see him. lol!
Mikado 06-24-2007, 05:09 PM I thought Marcia had a weird face, i thought Jan ( Eve Plumb ) was a LOT cuter....closer to me in age, too. But, Id have to say my first TV crush was Barbara Eden (As Jeannie)!!< I was a precocious 6 year old, I guess
TV_on_the_Porch 06-24-2007, 05:21 PM I do remember that Pamelyn Ferdin appeared in some Odd Couple eps--now that you mention it I do anyway--but I remember her primarily from Curiosity Shop and (later) Lassie as well as a fine performance in the telefilm "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn."
But she wasn't my first TV crush. That was Jeremy Gelbwaks. :D

I remember her best as the voice of Lucy in the animated Peanuts cartoons.......she had a very distinctive look, and voice!
airhead 07-06-2007, 05:18 PM I kinda crushed on Shaun Cassidy on The Hardy Boys.
Scoobiedoo30 07-09-2007, 03:23 PM my first TV Crush Candace Cameron
needles1987 02-28-2008, 02:11 PM I had a crush on Marcia too.
Tweety 02-28-2008, 09:03 PM I probably developed simultaneous crushes on Barbara Eden of "I Dream of Jeannie" and Elizabeth Montgomery of "Bewitched"...and maybe Ginger of "Gilligan's Island" as well (it wasn't until later on that I realized that Mary Ann was hotter). Oh yeah, and also Betty Jo from Petticoat Junction (later on I realized that Bobbi Jo was hotter).
In terms of child actresses I had early crushes on, I'd say:
1) Angela Cartwright (Penny from "Lost in Space")
2) I had a crush on Pam Ferdin as well, I thought she was just so cute... she not only did the voice of Lucy on some of the Charlie Brown stuff, she also played Lucy Winters on a Brady Bunch episode.
3) Jan and Marcia
I probably didn't start watching the Brady Bunch until about the 3rd season or so... so I thought Marcia was beautiful... then of course, Jan passed her up in Season 5... but I remember when the BB first went into afternoon reruns, and I saw the early episodes for the first time... I was in total shock at how young all the kids looked compared to season 5... Jan was definitely cuter than Marcia during the first couple of seasons, imo.
Of course, once I hit my teens, i had crushes all over the place... Melissa Sue Anderson, Valerie Bertinelli, Kristy McNichol, Kim Richards... same crushes as every other guy!
Oh yeah, I also had a big crush on Darla Hood of "The Little Rascals"
Steve Carras 10-23-2009, 08:23 PM My first TV Crush was Kelly Kapowski.
Mine, too! [Incredulous though for someonme my age..but she is cute.]
Maureen was, and Cathy Garver of Family Affair, Patty Duke, Sally Field, Annette, Hayley M., and Dawn Wells.ANd the Lennon Sisters.Susan Dey,too.
Say Redd, I thought Elizabeth on Sanford and Son was yours.
Dr. Thong 10-24-2009, 01:38 PM I remember being very upset when Farrah Fawcett left Charlie's Angels after only one season.
Then I got a look at Cheryl Ladd and it was like, "Farrah who...?":D
I was ten years old. Fickle. And easily led by a pretty gal. Even one who only existed on TV screens and 16 Magazines.
Novus 10-31-2009, 11:32 PM Jan Brady wasn't my first TV crush, but she was definitely one of the earliest. I never felt the same way about Marcia, though. She was too...conventional.
catlover79 12-31-2009, 10:54 PM I like this recent pic of Maureen:
Dr. Thong 01-01-2010, 04:04 PM I like this recent pic of Maureen:
She looks pissed off.
catlover79 01-01-2010, 04:05 PM She looks pissed off.
Maybe she spotted Eve.
Smartboy 01-02-2010, 01:15 AM One of my early TV crushes was Julie Kinisky from "Gimme a Break!". I was twelve years old when that show first came out. The site of her in designer boots was too good to be true!
JamesG 01-02-2010, 04:12 AM One of my first tv crushes was Nancy McKeon on The Facts of Life.
When I got a bit older it was Nikki Cox on Unhappily Ever After.
As far as The Brady girls go I can't say I was ever "into" them but I have to say I liked Eve Plumb of the three.
I also had a thing for the animated; April O'Neal from Ninja Turtles.

I'm an Eve Plumb fan myself, as for animated characters I'd say Amy from Futurama.
Dr. Thong 05-06-2010, 03:31 PM Jessica Rabbit was the first instance where I found myself, um, intrigued by an animated female.
Lennon 05-06-2010, 03:41 PM I crushed on Cindy the younger Brady. She had the prettiest blue eyes and about the same age i was.
