View Full Version : Possible new info on the Wacker's
crystaldawn 12-19-2005, 10:17 PM Well a friend of mine from another UM board found out some info for me and sad to say I believe Bill Wacker has died. :( I wasn't able to 100% confirm this but doing some public records searching a William L. Wacker from Stark County, Ohio (the county mentioned in the UM segment) was born on 3/12/20and died on 7/9/99. He would have been 79 when he died and that would have been around the right age as Bill Wacker plus being from the same county seems like a pretty strong likelihood that it's him. As far as I can ascertain Dorothy is still alive. I've checked some obituary websites and they want you to pay to access any information. I also tried to check on the CantonRep (the newspaper nearest the town of Massillon where they apparently were from) and as a matter of dumb luck I guess their archives begin in 8/99 just weeks after Mr. Wacker died so I wasn't able to find his obituary. Anyway I thought I'd just share with you guys that sad piece of news about the case. If anyone has any more luck in finding an obituary (or any other info) on him please post.

That is sad news Crystaldawn. :(
Well, at least Dorothy has been resting easy lately. It must be good to have been attack-free during the last 6 years.

crystaldawn 12-20-2005, 11:40 AM I agree with Opal, very tacky comment. So if you're convinced that Bill Wacker was responsible tell me how was he able to beat on his own house while simultaneously sitting in his camper (with two witnesses I might add) as well as family members parked across the street their sole purpose being to watch the house?
IndyGirl 12-20-2005, 03:17 PM That is very sad news
ouphe 12-20-2005, 03:48 PM 1. I thought the Wackers lived in Waco, Ohio.
2. Massillon (where I live) has its own fishwrapper... I mean newspaper: The Independent (http://www.indeonline.com/left.php).
3. Many people believe the same thing AKook does.

You may be right on the town they're from ouphe, I'm certainly not an authority. The only reason I said Massillon is when his name came up on the records search that is the name of the town it gave.
ouphe 12-26-2005, 03:18 PM You may be right on the town they're from ouphe, I'm certainly not an authority.Nor am I crystaldawn; I only go by what I've heard. If my remark came off as sarcastic or arrogant, please know that wasn't my intent, and I apologize. You may very well be right.
crystaldawn 12-26-2005, 04:56 PM Ouphe, I certainly didn't think you came across as arrogant. The only way I came up with that name was doing a records search and it had that city listed by his name so you may definitely be right that they're from that other town.
Did you get a chance to speak with your relative who is a retired police detective from Canton about this case?

Did you get a chance to speak with your relative who is a retired police detective from Canton about this case? Not yet; we are attending a New Year's Day celebration where is he supposed to be present. BTW, he's a cop, not a detective, and I just learned he's now retired. I'll ask him, but if the case was indeed in Massillon, I doubt he'll know anything. The best bet would probably be a Sheriff's Department employee, but unfortunately, I don't know any.
The case was talked about a lot around here about ten years ago, but now it seems nobody knows anything. My wife and many other women were understandably concerned about it. Truly weird how such an obnoxious case of harrassment seems to have just dropped off the map. :(
BTW, where is the other UM message board you heard about? I'd like to check it out.
crystaldawn 12-27-2005, 04:28 PM Thanks for the info ouphe. Well I'm not sure if it did just drop off the map....thats why we're all interested in knowing if the harassment continued on for years after the UM broadcast. I wonder if any worthwhile info was called into the telecenter after it aired.
Here's the other UM message board on IMDB:

The Barbs 12-27-2005, 05:10 PM I did a quick search and came up with a William L. Wacker and a Dorothy J. Wacker living in Massillon, Ohio. They even gave the street name and number.
crystaldawn 12-27-2005, 06:10 PM Very interesting Barbs. Do you know how current that info is? Maybe Bill did pass away in 1999 as the Social Security Death Index said but Dorothy is still living there. What address did they give?
The Barbs 12-27-2005, 06:17 PM I think the info is pretty current. The address for them is 10271 Wooster Street in Massillon, OH. Says he was born in March of 1920 and Dorothy was born in April of 1928. Sounds about right to me.
ouphe 12-29-2005, 02:59 PM I think the info is pretty current. The address for them is 10271 Wooster Street in Massillon, OH. Says he was born in March of 1920 and Dorothy was born in April of 1928. Sounds about right to me.Wow! How did you get such detailed info? I used several search engines (including Nexis-Lexis) but couldn't come up with that.
Now that I have her address, I'm half-tempted to pay her a personal visit, just to see how she's doing and if she needs anything.
The Barbs 12-29-2005, 03:26 PM Very simple. www.zabasearch.com You're not really going to go to her house, are you?
crystaldawn 12-29-2005, 04:00 PM You know she seems like such a sweet woman. I don't know if I would stop by for a personal visit.....unless you called her first and she agreed to it. But I had wondered about sending her a note just explaining about the message board and a lot of us had wondered how she was doing and if she is still having a problem with the harassment. Well whatever you decide to do (if anything) ouphe keep us posted!
ouphe 12-30-2005, 07:06 PM Very simple. www.zabasearch.com You're not really going to go to her house, are you?LOL! No, I'm not going to her house. I'm often tempted to do things I don't actually end up doing. We have a very friendly community here, but I would question the wisdom of appearing on some elderly lady's front porch to rehash a ten-year terror campaign she was forced to endure. Even with the most honorable intentions, I just wouldn't be comfortable. She is in my prayers and I hope she spends the remainder of her days in peace.
I must say, now that I know the neighborhood Mrs. Wacker lives in, it seems even more baffling that someone was able to pull off the level of harrassment that was perpetrated against her. More so now than ever, I believe it was an inside job.
Thanks for the URL, btw. :)
Babydollz24 01-03-2006, 01:51 AM I am from the Massilon/canton area as well, but I live closer to Perry township. When I first saw the Wacker case, I was surprised to see that it was a local story (stark county). I have a lot of friends from Massilon, and I wonder if they have ever heard this story. Strange that they never knew who was attacking them...freaky. BTW, the Canton Repository Sux. The only way to find his Obituary would be to prolly be to go to the Stark county library in canton and look at the microfilm records. I would go and find out, but the soonest I can get over there is saturday cuz it is my day off. I will let you guyz know if I find anything.
Dislimb 03-23-2006, 11:40 PM Any new info regarding this case?
