View Full Version : What songs do you hate by your fave singer(s) / group...
Ireneparalegal 12-17-2005, 07:47 PM I love Madonna to death. I have watched her since she came out in 1983 when I was 18. But! I can't stand her song "Don't tell me". I couldn't get into that song and that video sure didn't help.
Queen: Awesome group/band. However, "Bicycle" I can't even figure out why the hell they thought that song should have ever been recorded. :smash:
Dean Winchester 12-17-2005, 08:00 PM with Madonna, I have never liked "Love Don't Live Here Anymore", she frankly did not have the voice for the song when she recorded it in 1984. I also hated Hollywood from American Life and couldn't believe that song was chosen as a single.
David Bowie, some of the album tracks on "Tonight" were particularly brutal (Loving The Alien and Blue Jean were great, but the rest were terrible, especially his caberet take on God Only Knows by The Beach Boys and a really embarassing cover of I Keep Forgetting by Elvis), and the two Tin Machine albums he cut were frankly unlistenable, as is "Wishful Beginnings" from the Outside album.
Janet Jackson, I have never been a fan of her "sexy ballads" post-Rhythm Nation 1814 except for Any Time, Any Place, the ones on All For You were just horrendous
there's plenty others that I love and have songs I'm not so fond of, those just came to mind immediately

I love Madonna's version (1984 version only) of Rose Royce's song. As a matter of fact, I like it more than Rose Royce's version. I sure don't like the newer version she did of the song shortly after "Evita".
Dean Winchester 12-17-2005, 08:12 PM I love Madonna's version (1984 version only) of Rose Royce's song. As a matter of fact, I like it more than Rose Royce's version. I sure don't like the newer version she did of the song shortly after "Evita".
I didn't like the 1995 version of the song either. I wasn't much of a fan of "Fever" even though I did like the "Edit Two" mix that was in the music video. For the most part, I much rather her sing her own songs when you consider those two and "American Pie", I love a lot of her ballads, just not Love Don't Live Here Anymore.
Ireneparalegal 12-17-2005, 08:16 PM Janet Jackson: "Black Cat" "Pleasure Principle" & "Miss You Much"...i know alot of people love those songs by her, but I couldn't stand those songs. Never.
Dean Winchester 12-17-2005, 08:21 PM Janet Jackson: "Black Cat" "Pleasure Principle" & "Miss You Much"...i know alot of people love those songs by her, but I couldn't stand those songs. Never.
wow, Pleasure Principle's my second favorite track off Control (besides "Control"). For her hit singles, I hate "Someone To Call My Lover", that song is just too cheesy for someone Janet's age, it kinda reminded me of something Mandy Moore would do, the sample made the song nice but the song itself was just too below an artist of Janets level
EmoJoe 12-17-2005, 08:53 PM Carrie's Inside Your Heaven- it was an AI song she was forced to sing because she won AI. I didnt like it and apparently Carrie didnt either. Most of her fans didnt like this song and the music on her debut album is a lot better.
Kelly Clarkson- I don't like a lot of songs from her first album- "Some Kind of Miracle", "Anytime".
Maroon 5- Never really liked "Secret", but it's grown on me.
Pat Benetar- Ooh Ooh Song. The whole song is basically "oooooooh"
Bryan Adams- Flying (from his new album).
Steve M. 12-17-2005, 09:09 PM I newver like d Paul McCartney's "The Other Me," from 1983's Pipes of Peace album. It actually has a line that goes, "Something took a hold of me / And I acted like a dustbin lid." How does one act like the lid of a trash can?
Also, "Emotional Rescue" by the Rolling Stones. Jagger can't sing falsetto.
Dean Winchester 12-17-2005, 09:46 PM Pat Benetar- Ooh Ooh Song. The whole song is basically "oooooooh"
I love Pat Benatar too, and I agree, that song is just godawful, sadly it was a top 40 hit for her, while songs like "You Better Run", "Precious Time" and "Le Bel Age" didn't go anywhere near the top 40, something is wrong with that picture as all three of those songs were infinately better than "ooooooooooh oooooooooh ooooooooh ooooooooh, oooooooh ooooooh ooooooh, ooooh ooooooh oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh ooooooooooooohhhhhhhh" over and over for 4 minutes
Dean Winchester 12-17-2005, 09:48 PM Also, "Emotional Rescue" by the Rolling Stones. Jagger can't sing falsetto.
I never understood how that song got to #3 yet "She's So Cold" off the same album only hit #24, when the latter was infinately better IMO
Rhiannon 12-17-2005, 11:33 PM Parallel Universe by RHCP. blah
vashti1999 12-18-2005, 02:53 AM From Prince, I've never been crazy about the last two songs on Around The World In A Day: "The Ladder" and "Temptation." There's also a b-side he did called "Girl" that's not the most pleasant listening experience. And a song from his Crystal Ball album: "Cloreen Bacon Skin" I can do without.
Superstar 12-18-2005, 04:34 AM Kelly Clarkson - I Hate Myself For Losing You, this is the only song on Breakaway that I hate.
Ashlee Simpson - I don't like Say Goodbye, its pretty dull.
dawsongirl 12-18-2005, 05:12 AM For some reason, I don't like Daydream Believer by The Monkees. It's just...stupid. Actually, a lot of their unknown album stuff is better than the hits.
Courtnee 12-18-2005, 07:29 PM My Immortal (album version) by Evanescence. dull I like the band version better...
Dean Winchester 12-18-2005, 07:36 PM My Immortal (album version) by Evanescence. dull I like the band version better...
so someone who is a fan hates that song? I am not a fan of Evanescence but I did enjoy the first two singles they had out, but I hated My Immortal so passionately it took away whatever interest I had of checking them out. I hate Sarah McLachlanesque ballads, I'd rather have the more power-driven type of ballads Celine or Mariah or Whitney would record
Dean Winchester 12-18-2005, 07:55 PM my friend Lisa is one of the biggest Olivia Newton-John fans you'll ever meet (she has occasionally posted here as ONJMagic) but yet she absolutely HATES the song "Physical" and she's also not too fond of the Grease soundtrack.
Michael [hXc] 12-18-2005, 08:00 PM Gone by Kelly Clarkson. i mean Kelly does have a good voice, but she should sing songs that truly show what a great voice she has.
MissZero 12-18-2005, 11:34 PM I hate Sarah McLachlanesque ballads, I'd rather have the more power-driven type of ballads Celine or Mariah or Whitney would record
wow really?? to me sarah mclachlan songs are the best thing since sliced bread lol
Dean Winchester 12-18-2005, 11:57 PM wow really?? to me sarah mclachlan songs are the best thing since sliced bread lol
I dunno what it is but when I listen to a ballad, I want a track that has a real powerful production to it, as opposed to a piano style track like Tori Amos' songs. That's one of the reasons I hated the remake of Listen To Your Heart, it was the voice and the piano and nothing more, while the Roxette version was a lot more exciting IMO.
dawsongirl 12-19-2005, 12:06 AM my friend Lisa is one of the biggest Olivia Newton-John fans you'll ever meet (she has occasionally posted here as ONJMagic) but yet she absolutely HATES the song "Physical" and she's also not too fond of the Grease soundtrack.
barf. Physical is a horrible song. Even some of Olivia's sappy 70s stuff was waaaaaaayyyyy better than that song. And the video only made the experience worse.
Dean Winchester 12-19-2005, 12:23 AM barf. Physical is a horrible song. Even some of Olivia's sappy 70s stuff was waaaaaaayyyyy better than that song. And the video only made the experience worse.
"Make A Move On Me" (the followup to Physical which went to #5) was a MUCH better song IMO

I agree.
vashti1999 12-19-2005, 03:27 AM Physical was the JAM!!
Ireneparalegal 12-19-2005, 11:37 AM Physical was the JAM!!
Tell me you're kidding????
Number 9 Dream 12-19-2005, 02:49 PM I am crazily obsessed over the Beatles, but I can't stand Octopus' Garden or Ask Me Why (a track on their early album, Please Please Me ). Those songs just grate on my nerves.
I've never been fond of "Blue Jay Way" either.
Dean Winchester 12-19-2005, 04:33 PM Tell me you're kidding????
sad thing is, Landslide from the same album only peaked at #52.... I have not met one person whose heard both songs that thinks Physical is better. Landslide rules!! (it's an uptempo song, not a remake the Fleetwood Mac classic)
Dean Winchester 12-19-2005, 04:34 PM I love Cher, but at this point, if I die at 90 without ever hearing Believe again, it still won't be long enough
Courtnee 12-19-2005, 06:24 PM so someone who is a fan hates that song? I don't like the album version. But I do like the band (radio) version. :)
Dean Winchester 12-19-2005, 06:29 PM I like a lot of Mariah's music, but there is basically nothing salvagable off Glitter, the ONLY exception is the remake of Didn't Mean To Turn You On which sounded like something to come out of Minneapolis circa 1983
Ireneparalegal 12-19-2005, 07:16 PM I like a lot of Mariah's music, but there is basically nothing salvagable off Glitter, the ONLY exception is the remake of Didn't Mean To Turn You On which sounded like something to come out of Minneapolis circa 1983
Oh god, she did that song????? glad i didn't hear it...
Dean Winchester 12-19-2005, 07:32 PM Oh god, she did that song????? glad i didn't hear it...
yep, it actually wasn't that terrible
Michael [hXc] 12-19-2005, 07:32 PM i always loved Avril Lavigne and her music (good luck if you can meet someone who is a bigger fan than i was last year), but i still can't stand her song "Nobody's Home".
snl 70s show fan 12-20-2005, 12:49 AM sad thing is, Landslide from the same album only peaked at #52.... I have not met one person whose heard both songs that thinks Physical is better. Landslide rules!! (it's an uptempo song, not a remake the Fleetwood Mac classic)i liked landslide too i wish it had done better on the charts
snl 70s show fan 12-20-2005, 12:59 AM im one of the biggest nataile merchant fans that all of you will ever meet but i hated her ophiella cd every song in it was a real downer
dawsongirl 12-20-2005, 03:07 AM I am crazily obsessed over the Beatles, but I can't stand Octopus' Garden or Ask Me Why (a track on their early album, Please Please Me ). Those songs just grate on my nerves.
I've never been fond of "Blue Jay Way" either.
Yeah...a lot of their weirder stuff, like She Came in Through the Bathroom Window, or Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite...never could get those. Lovely Rita...also bad. Ick.
Raven-Symone 12-20-2005, 04:29 AM I love Madonna but I don't like her Evite soundtrack I think all the songs on that album was horrible except for one song.
I love Britney Spears but I don't like her song boom boom song, I just think that song suck.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 12-20-2005, 02:43 PM Im not too fond of Britneys ballads, especially Dont Let Me Be The Last To Know. I love Everytime, though.
Dean Winchester 12-20-2005, 03:30 PM Im not too fond of Britneys ballads, especially Dont Let Me Be The Last To Know. I love Everytime, though.
Everytime and Toxic are the only songs I like by her
Number 9 Dream 12-20-2005, 08:20 PM Yeah...a lot of their weirder stuff, like She Came in Through the Bathroom Window, or Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite...never could get those. Lovely Rita...also bad. Ick.
I love all the weird ones, but maybe it's because I'm weird...lol. I could never get too in to their cutesy songs...some of them are ok.
Chain Gang Member 02-15-2006, 12:10 PM Hey Mama-Black Eyed Peas
Know The Rep-John Cena & Tha Trademarc featuring Bumpy Knuckles
Janice Johnson 02-15-2006, 12:37 PM Michael Jackson-Heartbreaker on Invincible! I HATE that song!:barf: When I listened to Heartbreaker, I was like, "Hurry up! When is this song going to finish?" and when it did, I wanted to clap and cheer!(Not the reaction a fan usually gives when listening to his songs) I did not like that song at all!:(
GARFIELDKOOL 02-25-2006, 04:47 PM I love Madonna to death.
:smash:
Kool & the Gang is my favorite group, but one song I don't like from them is "Stone Love" That was way too polished. They were about to fall after that. This song went way from what they started out as.
Jrnygrl 02-25-2006, 08:07 PM I love Pat Benatar too, and I agree, that song is just godawful, sadly it was a top 40 hit for her, while songs like "You Better Run", "Precious Time" and "Le Bel Age" didn't go anywhere near the top 40, something is wrong with that picture as all three of those songs were infinately better than "ooooooooooh oooooooooh ooooooooh ooooooooh, oooooooh ooooooh ooooooh, ooooh ooooooh oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh ooooooooooooohhhhhhhh" over and over for 4 minutes
I agree this song goes into the "What was she thinking!" category.
I love Journey but if I never hear them sing "Open Arms" or "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" again it will be okay with me.
I also love George Michael but I hate "Father Figure." Also EWF's "After the Love is Gone" and "Shining Star."
Ireneparalegal 02-25-2006, 08:13 PM Heatwave "Always and Forever"!!! OMG, "that's our song" man, I get so annoyed when I hear couples, especially the females say that when they hear that song at a club or wedding reception. You know what, you can have that song, it is so burned out, overused and just UUUUGGGGHHH. I can find better romantic songs to dance to with my man than that song.

What????? That's my all-time favorite love song, Irene. I can never get tired of that. When I hear it on the radio, I always sing the tune. I use to sing that song to my ex-girlfriend beause she liked the song too. LOL. But I see what you mean though.
Ireneparalegal 02-25-2006, 10:30 PM What????? That's my all-time favorite love song, Irene. I can never get tired of that. When I hear it on the radio, I always sing the tune. I use to sing that song to my ex-girlfriend beause she liked the song too. LOL. But I see what you mean though.
When that song came out it was DA BOMB, but it got overplayed, especially here in southern California. The hispanics (or chicanos as one is called if they are born here and are of mexican heritage) LOVE THIS SONG TO DEATH. So hearing it at every wedding, party, dance, club, etc. got to me. I like a song that i can call "mine".
Kool & the Gang: Ooh la la la...add that one to this list also.
Plastic Vicar 02-28-2006, 04:16 AM From Prince, I've never been crazy about the last two songs on Around The World In A Day: "The Ladder" and "Temptation." LOL are you sure Cloreen is the only song you dont like off crystal ball (poom poom poom poom poom poom poom poom poom poom comes to mind!!!) ?? i reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaallly dont like Take me with U from Pruple rain!! too cheesy for me and apollonia has a HORRID voice!. i also hate 'youre my best friend' by queen!!
savageamusement 03-05-2006, 03:07 PM I wont say a particular song stands out to me, but I will say I hate when the stars decide to redo Christmas songs every year.
The best of Christmas by NSync, and AMy grant, and Celine Dion and...
Superstar 03-05-2006, 04:32 PM I used to hate I Hate Myself For Losing You by Kelly Clarkson but since I heard it live, I love it.
