View Full Version : Happy Days Theme Song wilkie_ray@hotmail.c 11-13-2005, 05:15 PM Can anyone tell me who sings the theme tune from Happy Days and can it be obtained on vinyl (45) Ray robyrob 11-13-2005, 07:47 PM that would be Pratt & McLain, assuming you mean "Happy Days" and not Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock", and I'm sure its out there, but I don't know how hard it would be to find on vinyl... there's some info on it here: http://www.tvobscurities.com/pages/hit_theme.php robyrob 11-13-2005, 07:52 PM Amazon has it on cd as part of a "Happy songs" collection: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000AMJ31A/qid=1131925858/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-4382043-6617700?v=glance&s=music anglemark10 11-13-2005, 09:31 PM Also, Bobby Arvon sang it for the eleventh season. Fonzarelli 11-14-2005, 09:18 PM Also, Bobby Arvon sang it for the eleventh season. I don't really like that version of the theme song. anglemark10 11-15-2005, 12:22 AM I like it a lot better than the Pratt & McClain one. I don't know what it is exactly, but there's something about it that makes me want to hear it over and over. Rich3 11-19-2005, 01:17 AM It's a really great song. I saw a brief clip of the singers on a retrospective of American Bandstand. I think there were two guys with blonde hair singing it. Unfortunately, it reminds me too much of how the show changed when they started filming live and using it as the opening theme (not just the closing them), although the early live seasons were fairly good. By the way, the version of "Rock Around the Clock" used in the opening theme was a new 70's recording by Bill Hailey and the Comets made for Happy Days. To me, it's just as good as the original and sounds amazingly similar. You can hear a difference in the weaker guitar solo, as the original guitarist had died. They also used an electric bass in the 70's version, instead of the stand up bass which had a swingier sound. The original 50's recording is heard at the beginning of the movie American Graffitti. Rich3 12-09-2005, 09:06 AM I also remember that we used to think maybe Fonzie was one of the singers, because there was a strong powerful voice among the singers. Scott_Baios_Gurl 12-10-2005, 03:55 PM I didn't like The rock around the clock song Dr. Thong 12-10-2005, 07:55 PM I don't really like that version of the theme song. I thoroughly HATE that version!! "Sunday Monday, HappEE Days! Wah-wah-ooooh!!"  robyrob 12-10-2005, 10:08 PM I thought since we're already discussing it, lets add a POLL!!!! so vote for your favorite version of the theme song NOW :woohoo: robyrob 12-10-2005, 10:22 PM gonna try this poll AGAIN... gilligan fanatic 12-10-2005, 10:42 PM the regular one that was used for most of the show XDrama 12-12-2005, 12:51 AM Pratt & Maclain's = Happy Days. To me at least. If they were to do a tribute to the show, as they did on the first TV Land Awards for other shows, I'd hope they'd have someone covering this song. :) Race's Girl 12-12-2005, 11:50 AM Pratt and McLain's version and I think that if it were redone for the 21st century, it might have a little rap part Dean Winchester 12-17-2005, 07:48 PM I voted Rock Around The Clock, but much preferred Pratt & McClain's version to Bobby Arvon's. Why did they change the theme song in the last season anyways? Same with the last season theme of Diff'rent Strokes (I know Facts Of Life updated the theme song later into it's run, but that show was still popular when they altered it, HD and DS were in their twilights). Did anyone think season 11 wasn't going to be the last year, so why not just go ahead and retain the classic season 3-10 version just one more year? Rich3 12-22-2005, 11:12 PM I just heard an alternate version of the theme song (maybe Bobby Arvon?) on my videocassette of the 1970 version of "Scrooge (Christmas Carol)" starring Albert Finney. The beginning of the movie shows previews from other classic movies while the alternate HD theme song plays. Kind of weird, but the video is from Paramount and CBS Video. MikeLutton 12-23-2005, 12:14 AM Pratt and McLain's version and I think that if it were redone for the 21st century, it might have a little rap part i didnt like rock around clock either other ones was ok i liked the last version and opening credits witht he jukebox was cool2.but kept going to fast i didnt like that. what version did pasty mcline sing think her name was |
