It's amazing to me how some families have such a strong resemblance to the point that strangers could pick family members out in a crowded room.

My family doesn't have a certain look. I look a lot like my mother. My sister took after my father's side of the family. My other sister and brother looked like they were adopted.

My nephew looks so much like my father....his grandfather. It's interesting that resemblances can skip a generation or even several. You can come across an old photo of a relative you've never met who looks like a family member today.

I have been told by different people that I look exactly like my father and then told I look exactly like my mother so who knows. As for my oldest daughter, everybody says she looks exactly like me.

Out of four kids, I'm the only one who looks more like my Dad. In fact, I get told all the time that I look just like him! I have the same dark hair, light eyes, pale skin and petite height. My three brothers, on the other hand, take after my Mom-- on the tall side, high cheekbones, fair hair, longer nose, etc.

My husband looks so much like his mother. The thing is that she's a very feminine and pretty woman, and he's very masculine looking.

a lot of people tell me that my cousin (whose 4) looks just like me when I was that age... so who knows, maybe she'll be my little mini-me!

I think you look like your dad

Everybody says that my 6 brothers and sisters look alike. But really, I would say that half look like my dad and the others look like Mom. In my own family my daughter and I often get mistaken for each other. It's funny seeing that I am 19 years older than she is!:lol: But I ALWAYS accept the compliment.;) My son is a mixture of both my husband and me. But he really looks more like my husband's side. In fact he has been mistaken several times for his cousin.(My husband's nephew.) They look amazingly alike!

People tell me I look EXAAAAACTLY like my dad. *shrug* I did find a picture of my dad when he was 11 and for a minute, I thought I was looking at a picture of myself :eek: Because the resemblence when we were both 11 is AMAZING.

I look a lot like my dad, and my sister looks a lot like my mom. I don't look anything like my sister or my mother and my sister looks nothing like my father. It's split right down the middle.

in some families i also noticed that it's easiest to tell who looks like who if the two parents look different (meaning different coloring and type features).

i don't know if this is just my family, but does anyone have family members who claim that their nieces/nephews, grandchildren, etc. look just like their side only? :lol: i see it on TV all the time.

Everyone tells me I look exactly like my Dad. The only real difference from looking at pictures of my Dad from when he was my age is that my eyebrows are darker. Even on the Phone people think I'm my Dad, because we sound so much alike.

The funny thing is that I act like my Dad sometimes as well... :lol:

I think it was the week before that. ;) Well, I don't have a scanner, and this cheap digital camera I have (It's like a keychain) doesn't take pics that well. I'll try to get some though!

My mom's side of her family has a lot of siblings who look alike with one of their children. For instance, my sister looks a lot like my mom; my cousin Cristal looks a lot like her mom Silvia; my cousins Martin Jr. and Andres look a lot like his dad Martin; my cousins Gabriela and Marcella look a lot like their dad; etc....

I look more like my dad and paternal grandmother. I am interested in learning in what people see between mine and my sister's looks. Some people say my sister and I look soooo much like (one person even claimed we were twins, even if we are 2 years and 5 months apart!!) while other people say we don't look like each other. What features could these people be seeing where they are seeing different things? It's interesting... Hmmm...

People have said that my brothers look like my dad and I look like my mom. My mom and I have never seen the resemblance, although we are the same height. My brothers are one year apart, and people always thought that they were twins when they were younger. They used to work at the same grocery store and a coworker thought they were the same person for a year.:lol:

I look just like my dad. We have all the same facial features. The only difference is he has darkish brown hair and I've always been blonde (or dark blonde the older I got). I look like my mom when she was younger from pictures, but now she gained weight (so her face is fatter) so I don't think I look like her at all. As for my brother I don't think we look anything a like!

I also look a lot like my cousin and my aunt in some ways.

Nah. I don't like posting pictures of me online, but I do understand what you are saying. The whole "family resemblance" is so intriguing. I mean, all the possibilities ties into the whole genetics and probabilities. Very interesting....

What I find interesting is that MOST (NOT all....) first-born children in families usually resemble the father. In these families, it's usually the second child who resembles more like his/her mother. Then, the even/odd number kids follow the same patterns. Sometimes (but less often) it's the opposites for the firstborn child resembling mom and the second resembling dad, and so on.... I am older and look more like my dad and my sister is younger and looks more like our mom. Has anyone else noticed this too?

Same here. Personally, I don't think I look like either one of them. My baby picture and my dad's baby picture look an awful lot like the same baby. yet I found this picture of my mom in her high school yearbook, that, If I didn't know better, I would have sworn was me!

As for the rest of us, my mom and her youngest sister look alike, but her oldest sister and brother look like they came from some other family. My dad and his first youngest brother look alike, but his youngest looks completely different. Never knew my grandfather, so maybe he looks like him.

anyway the pattern that swedeace said didn't work in my family, at all. actually in my family, the first child resembles the opposite sex parent (my aunt jane looks like her dad, my mom looks like her mom). and my dad looks just like his dad and he is the fourth child, aunt Fran is the third and resembles her mom, Dominick is second and resembles his dad, and Charlie is first and he looks like his mom. so it's opposite on our side :lol:

i was thinking about that too. maybe you will look like one of your parents when you get to their age. about what you said about me having my mom's eyes, most people do think so. i think my light skin comes from her too. :lol: i don't know who my brother looks like though.
