This thread is for posting and criquing poetry ;)
Here's mine:

MY ONLY

Sun on our faces
wind in our hair
spending the moment together
with out a care
your hand in mine
our lips meet
for the first time in two weeks
the air never tasted so sweet

(chorus)
My onliy weakness
my only strength
my only life
and my only death
your my only
(end chours)

Your fear becomes mine
as does your guilt
don't worry a minute about me..
I'll be just fine

(bridge)
Your the only person I can say this to but your..

My only lie
my only truth
my only reality
and my only dream
your my only

(chours x2)

(END BITCHEZZ)

let me know what you think!!!:D

This is not by me...but i found it so funny, i would like to share it...lol

When a girl asks you "does this make me look fat?"
how the heck are you supposed to answer that?

You could answer yes, but you better be ready,
cause if you say yes, on the floor is where you'll be,
she'll have your arm behind your back and begging for mercy,
making you wish you would have answered differently,

You could answer "no", but make sure she's smiling,
cause if you say no, and your not looking,
she'll assume your lying, and pain is what she'll bring,
making you wish you hadn't said anything,

You could answer with a shrug, but what will that do,
all that will do is get her pissed at you,
so don't lie, and tell her what you think is true,
before she chokes you, and your face starts turning blue,

Now when a girl asks you "does this make me look fat?"
this is how your supposed to answer that,
this is the sentence you should say that shows you care,
tell her nicely, "you look beautiful no matter what you wear"
and if that sentence doesn't work to make her happy,
tell her "Yes, no" or give a shrug, but be ready,
cause theres no greater rage that a womens fury,
and if you answer her wrong, she'll have you begging for mercy,

The Shell
The Shell may slip put from under your fingers
And the regret from that still may linger
As The Shell drifts and floats out to sea
This may be the way it has to be
You may not have handled it with proper care
Maybe the sun cast a distracting glare
You mourn more and more at how things went wrong
The Shell has more value now that it's gone
Pressing on despite the one thing you lack
The sun seems to beat harder on your back
The shell was so special it sparkled and gleamed
In an array of shells, it stood out it seems
Just when you think there could be no more
Another shell is washed up on the shore
The sparkly galore catches your site
You scoop it up with beaming delight
Now you know to handle it with care
Seeing oppurtunity when it is there
Although this might not be the same shell for which you yearned
At least now you know you lost and you learned
You win you lose, you cheer and you pout
In this tidal wave ocean-washing in and washing out

Great poetry, everyone!

Once I set aside time and motivation, I can go crazy with poetry writing. Here's a quick, rough draft I wrote in a matter of minutes this past summer. I am going to modify it sometime because some parts don't make sense. But you can all read it and let me know what you think.

Untitled - I can't decide on a title!!! ???

Call me crazy,
call me unique,
but please don't be so bleak,
trust my words,
trust my heart,
I don't intend on tearing us apart.

Words and suggestions are deeply heard,
I just like to be heard,

When no one understands,
this unempathic relationship runs amuck,
all my faith is stored up as luck,

the unknown force is driven,
which makes this relationship lean on a balance beam,
to which a foreseen reason is deemed,

two like persons are alike and unlike at once,
slowly this friendship is opened both ways,
tolerating each other's silly stays,

only life's journey knows which path it will go,
enjoying each other's conflicting company,
both in strange ways,
despite my complaints,
never will I give up,
on this friendship I treasure so dearly....

I love writing poetry as a means of expressing my thoughts, feelings and emotions. I don't write a lot of it because of time, but when I get the ball rolling with motivation, I can go on and on with them....

a short little poem I wrote. . .

Change
Late night, swirling navy clouds
Hover above a mind blocked from happiness:
Alone now, wearing masks with painted smiles
Laced with thought of insecurities
Present. Future. Doubt and insecurity
Do dance on shoulders -
Through faith: beauty in the unknown awakens the soul
While memories of a hallmark past linger.
letting go becomes a reality:
visions of change begin to emerge;
Visions of the future bring peace.

Here's a link to a poem my brother wrote. I found this website, and told him about it, and entered him in a poetry contest. The site liked the poem so much, that they put it in a book called "Letters From The Soul." He was even invited to the Shrine auditorium in 2002, to read it in front of fellow poets, and even celebrities, which was pretty cool. Anyway, here's the link:

Looks like the link didn't work, so I'll just post it here. If you want to see it at the site, just type Richard Russ, and go to the poem entitled: "The Brook."

The Brook

Most of my life I was a stream, flowing seperately,
until I met up with this Brook, which grabbed a hold of me,
and as I gaze into this brook, I see your life with mine,
through thin and thick, calm and rough, always flowing in line,
as many rocks and sticks and things, attempt to block the way,
while you and I flow as one, past these everyday,
nothing can impede our path, breaking who we are,
I am yours now and forever together we'll go far,
with every bend and every bank, bringing something new,
no such thing will prove to rough, so long as I have you,
many friends we may meet, such as animals near the stream,
but be aware of those whose key intent, is that to break our team,
in these times I ask of you, please hang on tight to me,
then with my strength, backed by yours, we'll flow eternally,
never stopping, maybe slowing, but picking up again,
as life pollutes us and it harms us, together we will win,
never a split, will be found, as our brook flows on it's way,
because in heart, we shall not part, together everyday,
so in the end when finally, we reach the open sea,
I will hold you by the hand, and you will flow with me.

"Fading In Sufferage"
I thought I knew what went on inside myself
I thought I knew who I was.....
It hurts to findout that you're someone else
As to who I thought you were....

And I thought I knew you all along
And I used to think you were cool
It hurts to know I didn't know you at all
Now I feel like a fool....

(chorus)
May I have a little time
To learn the God forsaken truth?
Take a moment of your time
To reach inside to you
Take a little piece of heart
Shed it with my hand
To know how just wrong I was
To know just where I stand
(end chorus)

All the things you've done to me
(All the lies I believed in)
What I hear and who I see
(All the things taken in sin)

Now everything I know is done
And that's the cold, hard truth
Reach out a thousand miles
To know who I used to...

(repeat chorus)

Now I'm Fading so fast
I simply don't care
Life's not fair!

Fading to Sufferage
Is this what you want?
Lies all your own!

(repeat chorus)

(end)

Ashlee's Awesome Poem (yeah, that's the name:rolleyes: )

Aye Dios Mio
Cried Leprechaun Lou
He ate too much cottage cheese
And thew up on you

He danced and he dance
The jig be the cause
He just couldn't stop
His mouth need gauze

You screamed and you whined
Grab the flowers and the soaps
The Irish fool wouldn't listen
He was now cracked on dopes

Rainbows and Gold
And Cottage Cheese Galore
You got up the nerve
And went to the store

Being in Ireland
All you found there was booze
Where are the perfumes?
I can't bear this cheesy ooze

Alas! Cried the salesman
I do indeed pity you
For I was once
Threw up on too

Ill tell you what
I have something grand
This magic water
Is the best in the land

Bathe in it's fruit
It's greatness will ease
And you will come out
Not smelling like cottage cheese

So you got in
Wondrous! You cheer!
You jump out
Smelling like beer

And the other which I did not nameeeee (viewer discrertion advised cause it had bad wrosd llol)

Edgar P. Pitkett
had nowhere to go
His arm was half bent
His face didn't show

He walked through the woods
on the most fateful of nights
Looking for
Some evening delights

What he found
was not delights at all
but rather young ghosts
no more than four feet tall

But Edgar wasn't scared
No fear in his bones
Even with
Those haunting groans

He danced, he danced!
Alas! He cried
When in the hell
Did you fellas die?

We did in the park
50 years afore
There was shrieks and cries
There was blood and gore

LOL! That's great!
Cried Edgar, that man
I've got
A wonderful plan

The ghost children were pissed
Where is our pity?
You're attitude towards us
is awfully sh*itty

I have no sympathy
Look at my bent arm
Why should I have pity
When I was done harm?

Aye, none of that
It's time for our display
You! Over there
And you! In the hay

What is this?
We're dead, leave us be!
No! Cried Edgar
Stop being a pus_sy

The ghost children obeyed
Behind objects they hid
Whatever Edgar told them to
They did

And so they say
on the most fateful of nights
The children's complaints can be heard
Listen if you might

It is not the wind
It is not any tree
It's the ghost children crying
Bitch! Leave us be!

a million moments between us
have built up something so beautiful
it all happened so quickly
you conducted yourself so deftly
you know what you're doing
and you're taking advantage
but i'm intrigued
i cant help but watch
what will the next million bring?

Great poems everyone!

Here is another one I wrote last March. It's kind of risque, if anyone gets offended.

Our Tears Are Just The Same

A little girl is crying
Unable to stop her tears
Her brother got shot and is dying
At just 21 years
But somewhere on the other side
Miles and miles away
Another girl is sobbing
She lost her father that day
The fights they keep on coming
It's us or it's their pack
Either way it's hopeless
It won't bring our love ones back
It's because of race they say
Which truely is a shame
Our cultures may be different
But our tears are just the same

All lost in their desires

So let them be

On the inside I’m dying

Look your best
Come on girl this is your test
Don’t make a fool outa me.

i usually don't share my artistic literature with anyone, but one of my favorite lyrics i've written is the line "nothing left to do but bleed out the hate, the pain, the regret and the shame" from a song i wrote last summer about self injury addiction. hell i think it's my favorite music i've written to accompany a lyric too. it kind of reminds me of system of a down's "BYOB". :grr:

Here is a poem, that i wrote on September 5, 2005

When i had been kinda depressed:

The day has come for me to end my sad yet worthless life

I try so hard to be a friend, but nobody ever is nice to me.

False promises, false hopes are all I recieve.

Always ended with some lame excuse.

Please somebody love me.

I need your love, care and devotion.

I"m so sad and lonely, so depressed

I know there is somebody out there waiting for me.

But why can't I know whom.

Life at one time was so sweet and simple.

Now it isn't.

Nobody loves me, nobody cares.

Pull the trigger and shoot the gun.

End my miserable existance please.

I'm probably not any good at poetry, but here goes. I just wrote this.

Sadness
when you feel down and the walls start closing in on you
the dark sets in and you feel blue
what you know is true
isn't what you thought you knew
no one hears your silence tears that rip your heart in two
you wonder if you can make it through

This is a beautiful poem, Jenny. :)

here's one I wrote last night...

Doing something nice
I didn't think twice
But I'm thinking now

I'm not scared anymore
My worries are never more
But I'm scared now

Summer wind was soothing
I got me moving
but I'm not moving now

You were running
My heart was hurting
and I'm hurting now

wrecked and ravaged
a whore and a savage
a theif and a lover
a liar and a mother

x2 :)

here's one I wrote last night...

Doing something nice
I didn't think twice
But I'm thinking now

I'm not scared anymore
My worries are never more
But I'm scared now

Summer wind was soothing
I got me moving
but I'm not moving now

You were running
My heart was hurting
and I'm hurting now

wrecked and ravaged
a whore and a savage
a theif and a lover
a liar and a mother

Really good poem. We have some really gifted poets here at SO.:)

Embers, by Kristel K.

I met you by oceanside,
shells piercing like knives on chapped feet
and the amber sun dipping on milky skies.

The tides rolled; I wondered if I were to drown
if you could save me.
Hope began to ebb away.

I left you by fireside,
glistening embers beginning to fade away
as the moon cut through a velvet sky.
I wanted to bottle it forever.

I'm absolutuely horrid at writing poetry. I fancy myself a writer of stories and such, but poetry is always something I can't do. After I finish it, it all seems so cheesy and ridiculous. Whenever I try, my stuff is always about people, relationships, emotions, etc, which is definitely my forte when it comes to writing.

But anyway, here's something I wrote about three months ago...

Heaven or Hell

Love, it has no limit
But I'm feeling restrained
I can't feel for you because that's not allowed in this game

It's just not right, it is far from fair
All I am is someone who cares

But you're occupied, you're used
Yet I continue to be abused
By the burning rage inside
That I bend over backwards trying to hide

He doesn't deserve you
I am certain of it
Please, just let him go
Let him sulk a bit

I'm tired of asking and I'm tired of crying
I want to be with you, but I'm tired of lying
End it now and end it fast, if my love shall last

But who am I to tell you to leave
The only love you've ever known
I just can't keep lying to him, his world would be blown

So we're at this crossroads and don't know what to do
I'm with someone wonderful, but I want to be with you
You can tell him good-bye and I'll kiss her farewell,
But where will we end up? Heaven or hell?

I've been writing a lot lately, but I just can't seem to write anything awesome. However, I did write this a few days ago:

Wither away
forget my name
get out of my head
get out of my heart

Here are two of mine:

Trembling

Mom comes toward me
her hands raised, I flinch
my body trembles and shakes

I hide the fear inside myself
waiting for the pain to subside
to no avail

Cries of anguish in my soul
wishing for a safer home
to dwell in

Days begin and end like this
the monotony devastating

Death of My Soul

Death is what you are
A hollowness killing my soul like a knife
Days of darkened grey
Come from you

Eternal black surrounds me now
In a place of emptiness with only you to keep me company
Where the colors are dead
And true life is gone

Poetry's hard....I failed my English poetry project....we were suppose to write like 16 types of poems, but I only did 8
