It was mainly because of budget costs. But if you want to read the whole story, go here:

Longest running family drama in the history of television...not so shabby!

Yeah, I really hate to say it, but I'm almost glad it's ending. There's been a real drop in quality the last couple seasons, IMO. But I'm looking forward to seeing how things are wrapped up.

I just read about the cancellation on TV Guide's website ...

HEAVEN CAN'T WAIT: The Camdens of 7th Heaven have begun their slow march toward the pearly gates. WB has pulled the plug on the 10-year-old family drama, which will air its final episode in May. Although Heaven remains a solid performer for the network, averaging 5.1 million viewers a week, the show's sky-high budget made it too costly to continue. Must be all those pricey special effects.

Ditto. It was better before Jessica Biel and Barry Watson left. But time marches on, and it's understandable that they were ready to pursue other
projects. I hope the producers will tie together all the loose ends before the
series ends, though.

I agree. After Mary, Matt, and Robbie left, the show went downhill.

That it has! Hopefully, it won't take them forever to issue all 10 seasons on DVD... we have the first two seasons on DVD, but as of a couple of weeks ago, there's been no official announcement as to when Season 3 will be out...

I'll admit, it'll be VERY weird not having 7th Heaven on the air anymore. But I think it was time for the show to end.

I haven't watched the show for about 3 years. I'll probably turn in for the final though.

To tell you the truth, you haven't really missed anything. No offense to anyone. But I really think that it's prime days were when the show had all of the Camdens on the show and Robbie.

Thats when I really enjoyed the show. It got to much for me when Lucy started going out with Kevin and then the Reverend quit the church and all those new characters were added.

Yeah. That's when the show started focusing outside the Camdens. I didn't like that much.

As much as we've loved 7th Heaven over the years, I think it's time to end it as well...

It was great the first few years when the whole family was still around...and yes, we all know kids grow up and go their own way...it's part of life. But it's pure heck when it happens on our favorite TV shows.

When they announced that last season (the 9th) would be the final season of the show, we were even fine with it then...we were glad when they changed their mind and decided to wrap things up this year (although, for a while, it was up in the air whether THIS - 10th - would be their last season)

I actually think that, although the show isn't as "good" as it was when the kids were younger and at home, the writers have kind of kept it somewhat interesting over the years... but now, with Matt & Mary gone, and Simon is no longer the likeable kid he used to be, and with Ruthie turing out to be such a know-it-all who wants to date guys 4 years older than her, and Sam and David (especially Sam) barely able to deliver a line, it's time they closed up shop.

We like Lucy and Kevin (we didn't like Kevin when he first showed up, but the writers do give him some good lines), but they can't really carry a show by themselves... Martin's basically a good kid, and considering he hasn't had a morther or father around for several years, he always seemed to do the right thing (until we found out about his one night stand with Sandy)...this will be interesting to see how this whole father thing plays out with him...

We absolutely HATE Simon's girlfriend/fiance Rose... we didn't like "Georgia" either. His girlfriends are getting worse as the show goes on... Deena is about the only nice girl he's ever gone out with... we didn't like Cecelia because Ashley Simpson herself is so annoying...the "raspy" voice thing gets old real fast...

Yup, it's time to call it a day...and wait for the DVDs to come out...

I'm glad its ending. I was getting worried with some peoples talk of how it would go on for another 2 seasons. It was a good show but it's getting old and because the charecters are older it's not as interesting.
